SLAYBACK

SLAYBACK

Real Name: Gregory Terraerton
First Appearance: Deadpool: The Circle Chase (Vol. 1) #1, August 1993

Powers: Originally a baseline human with no superhuman powers, Greg Terraerton was an expatriated Australian mercenary who became a test subject of the first revival of the Weapon X Program, run through Canadian secret intelligence's Department K. Like most of the agents from that iteration of the Weapon X Program, he is apparently not a mutant. At the time, Weapon X augmented agents using methods like advanced bionics (as with Garrison Kane) or modified derivatives of Wolverine's healing factor (as with Deadpool). Terraerton became Slayback as a result of a failed attempt to combine the two enhancements.

Slayback possessed cybernetic components in place of both arms, and integrated throughout his upper torso and head. He had superhuman strength and some degree of augmented durability. He seemed to possess self-repair capabilities in his mechanical systems, and hyper-regenerative qualities in what remained of his flesh. How well these two functioned together before Deadpool killed him is unknown, but after his return they were a poor fusion at best. Slayback spent nearly ten years regenerating after an explosion and was not completely restored. His mechanics spark and jolt, peeking out through his skin along his arms and face. Although "alive" again, much of his flesh remains yellowed and decayed.

Slayback's bionic arms contain an interlocking series of panels, able to increase dimensions of length and width. Thus his arms can stretch over 30 feet in length and his hands can expand large enough to hold a full-sized man in his palm. They also contain various bladed adaptations: He can extend a single blade from one finger, or create talons from the tips of every finger, expanding with his hands. Slayback can also reconfigure his entire hand into one giant spearpoint. Slayback's decaying flesh does not grow with his bionics: his telescoping cybernetics tear out from his skin every time, leaving ribbons of dead flesh hanging off his mechanical parts. The flesh only regenerates over his cybernetic arms once they return to normal dimensions.
