NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD

NEGASONIC TEENAGE WARHEAD

Real Name: Ellie Phimister
First Appearance: New X-Men (Vol. 1) #115, August 2001

Powers: Negasonic Teenage Warhead is an immensely powerful mutant of undefined potential. She seems capable of reality altering to an immeasurable degree. Before her death, she demonstrated telepathic and precognitive abilities. Ellie died in the Sentinel attack on Genosha, but apparently willed herself back to life, creating a new home and possibly a new family for herself.

She demonstrated combat precognition (anticipating her opponents moments in advance and reacting to avoid or counter them), teleportation, telekinesis, molecular manipulation, energy redistribution, time travel, and so on.

SLAYBACK

SLAYBACK

Real Name: Gregory Terraerton
First Appearance: Deadpool: The Circle Chase (Vol. 1) #1, August 1993

Powers: Originally a baseline human with no superhuman powers, Greg Terraerton was an expatriated Australian mercenary who became a test subject of the first revival of the Weapon X Program, run through Canadian secret intelligence's Department K. Like most of the agents from that iteration of the Weapon X Program, he is apparently not a mutant. At the time, Weapon X augmented agents using methods like advanced bionics (as with Garrison Kane) or modified derivatives of Wolverine's healing factor (as with Deadpool). Terraerton became Slayback as a result of a failed attempt to combine the two enhancements.

Slayback possessed cybernetic components in place of both arms, and integrated throughout his upper torso and head. He had superhuman strength and some degree of augmented durability. He seemed to possess self-repair capabilities in his mechanical systems, and hyper-regenerative qualities in what remained of his flesh. How well these two functioned together before Deadpool killed him is unknown, but after his return they were a poor fusion at best. Slayback spent nearly ten years regenerating after an explosion and was not completely restored. His mechanics spark and jolt, peeking out through his skin along his arms and face. Although "alive" again, much of his flesh remains yellowed and decayed.

Slayback's bionic arms contain an interlocking series of panels, able to increase dimensions of length and width. Thus his arms can stretch over 30 feet in length and his hands can expand large enough to hold a full-sized man in his palm. They also contain various bladed adaptations: He can extend a single blade from one finger, or create talons from the tips of every finger, expanding with his hands. Slayback can also reconfigure his entire hand into one giant spearpoint. Slayback's decaying flesh does not grow with his bionics: his telescoping cybernetics tear out from his skin every time, leaving ribbons of dead flesh hanging off his mechanical parts. The flesh only regenerates over his cybernetic arms once they return to normal dimensions.

COURIER

COURIER

Real Name: Jacob Gavin, Jr.
First Appearance: Deadpool: The Circle Chase (Vol. 1) #1, August 1993

Powers: Courier is a mutant with a “photo-reflexive malleable genetic imprint”, giving him direct and absolute control over his molecular structure. This allows him to become adaptable to different phenomena, such as immunizing himself to deadly poisons or toxins. He also has broader healing abilities, allowing him to reabsorb severed pieces of his body mass on contact or, if he cannot recover the mass, reconfigure his molecules so that the missing portions of his body are regenerated. If he loses a finger or a hand, for instance, he can reform the missing part by drawing mass from his overall stature. Regenerating in this manner causes him to lose his height bit by bit, though and apparently he's shrank four inches or so over the years through regeneration.

Courier can also shape-shift, altering his physiology to change his gender or mimic the appearance of other people. This cannot be accomplished instinctively as with standard metamorphs, however: He must consciously focus on reforming the various aspects of his body in order to change his appearance. This can require considerable time to properly complete as he requires time to extensively study someone's visage in order to copy them.

Courier is an accomplished negotiator and public speaker.

COMMCAST

COMMCAST

Real Name: Garabed Bashur
First Appearance: Deadpool: The Circle Chase (Vol. 1) #2, September 1993

Powers: Commcast’s mutant power is an electronic form of telepathy. He psionically receives electronic transmissions of data and stores them within his consciousness. He does so passively, in a manner that does not interfere with the regular transmission, and can receive electronic signals over a great distance (even isolating himself in a rural area did not render his mutant power inoperable).

Commcast’s mind possesses an infinite storage capacity, containing all the data he has ever been exposed to. The data is streamed into his mind far faster than he can accurately scan it all consciously, so even though the information is present in his mind, it requires a combination of meditation, effort, and sheer willpower for him to locate and extract specific information upon command. He uses a data filtering unit called the Dominus Objective which possesses an artificial file search capacity. By routing it through his exoskeletal Black Box armor, it allows him to summon information in his mind at will by merely focusing on it.

COPYCAT

COPYCAT

Real Name: Vanessa Geraldine Carlysle
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #98, February 1991 (as Domino); X-Force (Vol. 1) #11, June 1992 (as herself)

Powers: Copycat’s mutation was empathic metamorphosis. In her default form, she possessed pale blue skin, white hair streaked with red and pink, and red pupils on a black iris.

Her mutant ability enabled her to attune herself with another person in her vicinity and duplicate their physical, mental and genetic traits. This generally happened automatically until she fully mastered her power. Initially, she would develop a semi-empathic bond with the person she was shape-shifting into, instinctively understanding their character better. As the process completed itself, she not only assumed the physical appearance of her template, but also their superhuman abilities and, presumably, at least some aspects of their memories, personality, and special skills like fighting maneuvers.

Once in character, she could remain that way permanently until she chose to consciously reverse the process. Even if she fell asleep or was knocked unconscious, she would still retain her altered appearance. In later years, however, the Weapon X Program apparently altered Copycat’s powers, allowing her to change shape at will like a typical metamorph (without needing a template), but now unable to duplicate special powers or memories with the morphing process.

DEADPOOL

DEADPOOL

Real Name: Wade Wilson
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #98, February 1991

Powers: Wade Wilson was a highly-trained mercenary who was subjected to genetic enhancement at the hands of the Weapon X Program, as they grafted a bottled variation of Wolverine's healing factor onto his cells. The end result left him permanently scarred, but superhumanly powered. Deadpool's strength, agility, endurance, and reflexes have all been heightened to above human limits. His healing factor is capable of regenerating damaged or destroyed areas of his cellular structure at a rate far greater than an ordinary human. It has proven capable of curing cancer, enables him to completely regenerate missing digits or limbs in a matter of hours, and even makes having his brain blown out the back of his skull only a temporary problem. It also provides him with protection from all forms of diseases, poisons, drugs, and extends his lifespan.

The speed at which his power functions is directly proportionate to an injury's severity and partially affected by Deadpool's mental state. It functions most efficiently when he is awake, alert, and in a positive mood. The healing factor is tied into his mind in a manner different from Wolverine, giving it a "mental" aspect which allows Deadpool to accelerate his regeneration even further by focusing on the process. Besides his natural healing powers, he was once cursed by Thanos to forever remain outside the realm of Death, and as a result has regenerated even after being reduced to protoplasm. Due to repeated brain injuries throughout his career, Deadpool's brain regenerates brain cells at such a hyper-accelerated rate that his memories and sanity suffer regular damage. For a time, his mind was mingled with the mutant known as Cable which allowed him to access the latter's bodysliding technology without the use of machinery.

Deadpool is an extraordinary athlete and hand-to-hand combatant skilled in multiple unarmed combat techniques. He is a master assassin, an excellent marksman, and an accomplished user of bladed weapons. He is fluent in Spanish, Japanese, German, among other languages. He frequently employs handguns, grenades, swords, and other weapons in combat, personal teleportation belt and a holographic image inducer as well.

MADCAP

MADCAP

Real Name: Unrevealed
First Appearance: Captain America (Vol. 1) #307, July 1985

Powers: The man who became Madcap was involved in a vehicular accident with a chemical tanker that left him fermenting in a pool of Compound X07 spilled by the tanker's collision. Compound X07 is a chemical mixture of unknown compounds concocted by the Advanced Idea Mechanics and apparently contained enzymes that promoted rapid healing in the human body. His exposure to Compound X07 left him with two separate superhuman powers:

The first is his ability to rapidly heal his own wounds of the flesh, bone, and tissue. Madcap has been observed to mend broken bones rapidly, expel bullets lodged in him, and recover from a variety of lacerations and puncture wounds. He can re-attach dismembered limbs and digits and heal from being burned beyond recognition. He can regenerate brain cells when he sustained an injury to the brain, but apparently he cannot heal the damage done to most of his body's nerve endings that results in his inability to perceive pain. The extent of his tactile sensations is also unknown. He no longer feels pain, and has quickly recovered from every form of physical punishment he has been exposed to since the accident.

Madcap's second superhuman power is the ability to psionically stimulate the inhibition centers in other human beings' brains. By stimulating them, he can cause other people to act in a generally euphoric, uninhibited, outlandish manner. He cannot control the type of behavior his subjects will exhibit; that is dictated by the subjects' own psyches. Apparently a person must establish eye contact with Madcap in order for him to affect his or her brain. It is not known precisely how long a person will be prone to aberrant behavior from a single stimulation of one second's duration. This also may be determined by the individual's psyche and normal inhibition level. Madcap's victims have been observed to act crazily for fifteen minutes to a half hour after a single stimulation. If Madcap were to repeatedly stimulate someone before the effect of the first stimulation wore off, he could keep them acting crazily indefinitely.

SWARM

SWARM

Real Name: Fritz von Meyer
First Appearance: Champions (Vol. 1) #14, July 1977

Powers: Fritz von Meyer is a Nazi war criminal/entomologist now comprised of bees. His insect experiments uncovered a hyper-intelligent colony of bees in South America, apparently mutated by an irradiated meteor. Dr. von Meyer antagonized the bees into attacking him and was consumed by them, but managed to sustain his consciousness through a psychic connection to the mutated queen bee. Reduced to nothing more than a skeleton, Fritz animated himself as a human-shaped mass of bees surrounding his irradiated bones, calling himself Swarm.

Swarm was functionally resistant to most form of physical injury. The mass of bees that made up his body could move aside to avoid attack, and the death of individual bees when struck by blades or fire only momentarily incapacitated him, as his queen could rapidly produce new offspring to repopulate his form. Swarm was mentally connected to all his bees and received all their sensory input, allowing him to send out drones as scouts or spies over great distances. The exact distance Swarm could dispatch drones away from the main hive is unknown, but they could apparently cross continents and remain connected to him. Swarm could "fire" bees at his opponents, sending off large quantities of bees to sting his victims. At times, he has demonstrated the ability to assimilate other bees into his hive, greatly increasing the number of bees under his control, and increasing his relative mass to achieve superhuman size and strength. Normally, the colony that comprises Swarm's body is roughly 220,000 mutated bees at any given time, though he has controlled up to 2 billion on occasion.

Recently, he even demonstrated the ability to create additional humanoid constructs of bees, including a set of doppelgangers to fight the Mighty Avengers. Swarm is occasionally depicted as dependent on his queen bee and irradiated human skeleton to maintain his form and his control over the bees, but this isn't always the case. Sometimes his radioactive psyche can name a new queen, and establish a new colony to contain his consciousness, even without his skeleton.

The bees possess sentience and awareness approaching that of a human, as well as an acquired "killer instinct", and are powerful enough to sting through normal apiculturist protective garb. When independent of Swarm's control, the bees will revert to their more pacifistic lifestyle. They're vulnerable to insecticides, have a natural enmity towards arachnids, and are able to ingest synthetics by rapidly eating through it. They can rapidly assemble giant hives large enough to engulf buildings within minutes, and can build honeycomb walls durable enough to withstand blows from even demigod beings such as Hercules, reinforcing them from their side faster than their opponents can inflict damage from the other side. The queen bees are moderately telepathic, able to communicate feelings to sensitive humans.

Fritz von Meyer is a gifted intellect with Ph.D.'s in both toxicology and entomology. Highly skilled in both fields and apiculture, he is also a passable roboticist, able to build gigantic radio-controlled mechanical bees. These constructs have sufficient strength to fly while carrying full-sized humans and are armed with powerful short-range energy stings to stun or kill opponents.
