MERCURY
Real Name: Cessily Kincaid
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 2) #2, August 2003
Powers: Mercury’s mutant power lies in the nature of her body, which is composed of a polymorphic liquid metal. Her form has many of the physical properties of the element mercury, but is non-toxic. Her power renders her physiology immune to pheromones and molecular breakdown.
She can dissolve herself into a puddle of liquid metal and employ a form of molecular cohesion to propel herself in this state. Rearranging her bodily molecules allows her to convert into a highly malleable state within a fraction of a second. She can stretch, deform, expand, or compress her entire body or parts thereof into various contiguous shapes, but has limited capabilities of the shapes taken. She can extend her limbs, torso, or neck to great distances and can extend her body in two directions. This aspect of her power also allows her to flow upwards on vertical surfaces or cling upside down to the underside of objects. Mercury can also shape her body into different forms, such as morphing her hands into solid blades or extending spikes from her skin.
Mercury is virtually impervious to all forms of penetration wounds and she does not bleed. Like any metal, she conducts electricity, which can incapacitate her body. She can survive indefinitely without food and water. She can regenerate her cellular structure at an extraordinary rate and is virtually immune to poisons, most drugs, and nearly all terrestrial diseases. She does not possess fatigue-building poisons within her muscles, granting her phenomenal durability and endurance. Though her entire physiology is composed of mercury, she possesses functional naslacrimal (tear) ducts allowing her to cry and smell. Mercury is also resistant to magic.
