Real Name: Harold Leland

First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #132, April 1980

Powers: Harold "Harry" Leland possesses the mutant power to geometrically increase the weight of any object or person within 350 feet of his immediate vicinity, weighing it down with enormous gravitational pressure. It is not entirely certain whether he produces a plus G gravitational field or remotely fed mass into his target from an extra-dimensional source since his power does not affect aspects such as size or volume.

His power can pin animated objects (like people) to the floor, and often will increase the weight of matter to the point where the floor collapses underneath it, or else the object itself is destroyed. Active resistance by the subject makes it more difficult for him to assert his power. The potency of his power was further weakened by his morbid obesity, general lack of endurance, and years of alcohol abuse that led to his overall poor health.

Harry Leland was the Black Bishop of the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle. Either coming from a prominent family or having an exceptional amount of self-made wealth and influence, Leland holds a Juris Doctor degree and is a brilliant litigator with encyclopedic knowledge of corporate law.
