SLAPSTICK
Real Name: Steven Harmon
First Appearance: Slapstick (Vol. 1) #1, November 1992
Powers: Steve Harmon was a 15-year-old New Jersey high school student who underwent an unregulated passage through a dimensional portal (disguised as a funhouse mirror) and ended up being mutated into electroplasm, a form of animated unstable molecules native to Dimension X. Left a puddle of goo with limited mobility, the Scientist Supreme of that dimension rescued Steve, brought him to a stabilized form, and then outfitted him with gloves containing hi-tech micro-circuitry with useful applications.
In his altered state as Slapstick, Steve can flex and distort his body in numerous ways, making him virtually immune to physical injury and able to assume any form, limited only by his mass and his imagination. With both the appearance and the unlimited physical malleability of an animated slapstick cartoon character, he can be squashed flat but pop back into place, withstand extreme temperatures with no ill effect, and be bent and twisted in inhuman ways without suffering from the attack. Because of the nature of the electroplasm, Slapstick can be rejuvenated and temporarily increase his physical strength by being exposed to electricity.
His left glove stabilizes his form and allows him morph to and from his human form upon command. His right glove opens up into a sub-spatial warp, allowing him to store an apparently infinite amount of mass in a pocket dimensional space. He can then summon objects out of sub-space with a wave of his hand, though the only object he was known to keep there was a large mallet of extra-dimensional composition, After joining the Initiative, Slapstick has apparently been stuck permanently in his electroplasm state. Also, the “infinite pocket” from his glove now tends to manifest inside his pants’ pockets.
Steve Harmon is an experienced practical joker with a highly developed bizarre sense of humor.
