First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #62, November 1969
Powers: Using untapped radiations in the Savage Land, the mutant named Magneto built a machine and induced artificial mutations in several of the local indigenous people there into super-powered beings known as the Savage Land Mutates (Amphibius, Barbarus, Brainchild, Equilibrius, Gaza, Lupo, Piper).
Equilibrius has the ability to release waves of psionic energy from his optical nerves that compel individuals within a short distance of himself to gaze into his eyes. Once eye-contact has been established, he can upset equilibrium and cause vertigo in those individuals. He can also cause those under his gaze to follow basic commands.
