X-TREME

X-TREME

Real Name: Adam Neramani
First Appearance: X-Force Annual (Vol. 1) #2, October 1993

Powers: X-Treme is a mutant hybrid of human and Shi’ar genes. He possesses enhanced strength, being able to press somewhere in a range above the average Shi’ar, bordering on superhuman. His physical endurance is about more than 20 times that of a human. His speed, reflexes, agility, athletic skills, and dexterity are far superior to both human and Shi’ar. He has pointed ears and his eyesight is superhuman, allowing him to visually perceive objects at least 1 mile away with precise clarity.

His mutant power is to generate a biochemical energy blast that ignites the electrolytes present in a person’s blood, causing the person to burn from the inside out. The intensity of the burn is variable, being anywhere from just a warming sensation to incinerating a person within a matter of seconds. X-Treme can affect multiple targets with this power and the average intensity of it is enough to stun. This does take a tremendous effort for X-Treme and will usually leave him in a weakened state, so he doesn't utilize it very often. Also, in order for X-Treme to ignite the electrolytes he must first oxygenate the blood. This is usually done by cutting the target and exposing their blood to the air. Any person with an open cut becomes a target for him. X-Treme uses a trigger word of "Burn" to activate his power and his eyes will glow with a reddish light.

He often uses a variety of Thet’je blades as well as two retractable blades on each arm, just located above the wrist. He is also a skilled fighter and swordsman.

DEATHBIRD

DEATHBIRD

Real Name: Cal'syee Neramani-(Summers?)
First Appearance: Ms. Marvel (Vol. 1) #9, September 1977

Powers: Deathbird is a member of the extraterrestrial race known as the Shi'ar. The Shi'ar have both avian and mammalian characteristics: Although the Shi'ar are outwardly humanoid and mammalian in form, they have feathers instead of hair. At an earlier point in their evolution, the Shi'ar's had fully developed wings attached to their arms, enabling them to fly. Deathbird herself is actually an evolutionary throwback who possesses these functional wings. Shi'ar females have mammary glands and are viviparous.

As a genetic throwback, Deathbird possesses much more obvious bird-like traits than the rest of her avian people, the human equivalent of a mutant looking like a caveman. She has roughly six times the strength of a normal Shi'ar, in addition to superhuman speed, agility, endurance, reaction time, and durability. She has razor tipped talons on the ends of her fingers, strong enough to slice into steel, and wings which extend underneath her arms and can be flapped with enough force to provide lift and flight. At times in the past, Deathbird used a set of telescopic javelins as her personal weapons. Most of these javelins were held in a brace circling her wrist, but she may have had other hidden on her person. Once removed from their cache, most of her javelins extended to their full 32-inch length. She can use these for close quarters combat or as razor pointed throwing weapons. Certain javelins were designed to explode or release toxic fumes on impact, and some were not designed to extend but instead remained in their shorter form and would discharge high-voltage electrical blasts when two were touched together.

HOPE SUMMERS

HOPE SUMMERS

Real Name: Hope Summers (born Spalding)
First Appearance: X-Men (Vol. 2) #205, January 2008

Powers: Hope Summers is an omega-level mutant uniquely connected to the mutant race in ways not fully understood. Hope was specifically designed by the Phoenix-Force to restart mutant evolution on Earth. Her very birth triggered the resurgence of the mutant gene in humanity despite the reality-altering Decimation mandate of the Scarlet Witch that prevented new mutants from being born or manifesting anywhere across realities.

During the period of time before the Decimation was reversed, Hope had a number of unique attributes. Other mutants only manifested after Hope returned to the present timeline and manifested her own powers. These manifestations were only partial, requiring Hope to make physical contact with these neo-mutants, or "Lights", before their abilities could fully develop. Hope also had a superhuman level of control or influence over the Lights. Their devotion to her manifested in different ways: Velocidad was attracted to her, Zero saw her as a muse, Primal identified her as "master", etc. They naturally felt inclined to do what she wanted and be what she wanted them to be in her presence. Direct commands from Hope could override their willpower entirely. Hope also had some level of influence over the rest of the mutant race, to varying effect. When talking to the Stepford Cuckoos, one seemed highly taken with Hope, one ambivalent, and the last rejected her. Since the Decimation spell was undone by Hope and Wanda, these unique attributes of Hope's existence no longer seem applicable. New mutants manifest without her assistance, and she no longer demonstrates any influence over the Lights or others.

Her own mutant power is "pluripotent echopraxia", allowing her to duplicate the powers of other mutants in her vicinity by replicating their mutatgenic auras. Hope can copy multiple power signatures simultaneously, the upper limit of which is unknown. She is able to access other mutants' abilities so long as she is in their presence. Once she leaves their presence, Hope maintains her copied powers based on how often she uses them.

Active use of a copied power set can cause her to lose those abilities in a matter of hours after leaving the original's presence. If she chooses not to use the power set, however, those abilities may remain in her system for days until she chooses to use them. Hope copies the current state of another mutant's powers, for good or ill. For instance, when Cable was given an injection of the Volga effect that made his powers lethally unstable, Hope copying his powers made them unstable in her body as well. Hope can demonstrate the abilities of any pre- or post-Decimation mutant. She can manifest multiple abilities at once and can manifest mutation in latent mutants. Post-Decimation new mutants experienced only partial development of their powers, or were unable to control their abilities consciously, until Hope made physical contact with them and caused their mutation to fully manifest. In addition to mimicry, she can activate and direct the powers of mutants nearby, or improve those abilities (alone or in synergy with other mutants).

HYPERSTORM

HYPERSTORM

Real Name: Jonathan Reed Richards
First Appearance: Fantastic Four (Vol. 1) #404, September 1995

Powers: Hyperstorm’s mutation grants him linkage and access to the extra-dimensional realm of hyper-space. The dimension of hyper-space is accessible from Earth and its physical laws differ from Earth's in the following ways: First, it is possible to surpass the speed of light within hyperspace without directly violating Einstenian laws of relativity. Second, hyper-space is "warped" in comparison to Earth's dimension so that the distance between two points in hyper-space might be immensely shorter than the distance between the equivalent points in Earth's dimension. Lastly, hyper-space is the source of all energy in the universe. As such, Hyperstorm has control of the four basic fundamental forces of the universe (electromagnetism, gravitation, and the strong & weak nuclear forces). He can manipulate these forces so as to augment his physical strength, endurance, reflexes, and durability, increase or negate the effects of gravity, project and manipulate electricity, magnetic fields, heat energy, and explosive bursts, shape ambient energy in any manner he wishes, restructure matter at the sub-molecular level, and perform telepathic feats. His mutant power places him on par with some of the most powerful cosmic beings in the universe.

GENESIS

GENESIS

Real Name: Tyler Dayspring
First Appearance: Cable (Vol. 2) #6, December 1993

Powers: Genesis possessed the mutant power to forge a mental link with the minds of others. Through this link, he could telepathically affix himself to a person’s memories and visually display them as psychoplasmic hologram projections hanging in thin air, in full visual clarity and surround sound. He could also project memories from his own mind as well.

Tyler Dayspring was trained in military tactics, guerilla warfare, and other combat disciplines. He often employed weapons and personal body armor from his era.

JENSKOT

 JENSKOT

Real Name: Aliya Dayspring
First Appearance: Cable (Vol. 1) #1, May 1993

Powers: Jenskot possessed the mutant powers of telepathy and telekinesis. In adulthood, she rarely displayed any of her abilities, preferring armed and unarmed combat instead. During her adolescence, she demonstrated enough proficiency with her abilities that she was able to read and project thoughts while simultaneously operating and piloting a vehicle using her telekinesis.

RUBY SUMMERS

RUBY SUMMERS

Real Name: Ruby Summers
First Appearance: X-Factor: Layla Miller (Vol. 1) #1, August 2008

Powers: Ruby Summers is a mutant from the future timeline of Earth-1191 and possesses a gestalt variant of her parents' (Cyclops and Emma Frost) mutant powers.

Instead of Emma's organic diamond, Ruby transforms into an organic version of ruby quartz crystal. As a result, she is nearly invulnerable and has a practical level of enhanced strength allowing her to exert 3-5 tons of force and pressure. Although she technically has a human form, Ruby has not reverted to normal in decades. She does not age or require conventional sustenance in her ruby form.

She is reportedly concerned that reverting to normal will restore her natural age, causing her to age decades in a moment if she changed back. Ruby can also project blasts of force from her eyes. These blasts are black in color for reasons unknown, but seem to function essentially the same as Cyclops' optic blast. Ruby uses her optic blasts sparingly, and seemingly cannot exert them as frequently as her father.

X-MAN

X-MAN

Real Name: Nathaniel Grey
First Appearance: X-Man (Vol. 1) #1, March 1995

Powers: The X-Man was genetically engineered from the combined DNA of Earth-295’s versions of Cyclops and Jean Grey and force grown into adolescence. Though designed to be phenomenally powerful, a sub-program was inserted into his DNA at the time of his production so that his power would kill him by the time he reached 21 years of age. The X-Man could tap the enormous psychic energies of the astral plane so as to endow himself with telepathy and telekinesis of the highest magnitude.

As a telepath, the X-Man could read minds, project his thoughts and manipulate those of others, communicate mentally, project his astral form, travel to the astral plane, create sophisticated illusions from ectoplasm, and manipulate minds in anyway he desired.

The X-Man was arguably one of the most powerful telekinetics ever. He could rearrange matter, fire devastating telekinetic energy blasts, levitate matter, create powerful telekinetic force shields, cause violent explosions in matter, and utilize his telekinetic energy to increase the physical power of his blows. He could forge solid constructs by converting psionic energy into quasi-stable matter. Using this ability he created a resilient psi-armor for himself, temporarily restored someone's missing arm, turned Xavier's astral form into a tangible thing, and brought Madelyne Pryor back to life as a psychoplasmic construct duplicating the characteristics of organic matter.

Nate later became "Shaman of the Human Tribe" when he met an alternate version of himself with significantly greater abilities and they mentally bonded, sharing memories and power. Nate developed enhanced psychic senses allowing him to perceive the future and alternate reality possibilities. He received unprompted visions of future events, could read the quantum probability activity around people to see the paths their lives might have taken or predict their actions from moment to moment, or even look directly into different realities along what he called the "Spiral". Nate could also transport himself and others between realities at will. He demonstrated greater control over energy-matter-energy conversion techniques, allowing him to materialize objects from his thoughts or transform his body into pure psionic energy then return to material substance. Nate's powers were overwhelmed when the Sugar Man used him as a conduit for inter-dimensional travel, leaving him with only limited telekinetic powers afterwards.

Since his exposure to the LifeSeed, he has grown substantially more powerful. He can affect things remotely at a global range, influence localized evolutionary and environmental development, impose beliefs and altered or enhanced abilities on others, construct an entirely new reality, etc.

STRYFE

STRYFE

Real Name: Stryfe
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #86, February 1990

Powers: Stryfe was the perfect mutant clone of Cable, created from Cable's healthy cells and therefore possessing all of his power and none of the restrictions imposed by the techno-organic virus. He was also genetically engineered at the time of his creation to be a perfect physical specimen, possessing peak human strength, stamina, reflexes, and genius intelligence. His mutant abilities gave him vast potential for both telepathic and telekinetic feats.

He could sense the presence of other sentient beings, read their thoughts, create psychic links to communicate psionically with others, exert mental domination over someone's thoughts or actions, project directed force to lift and maneuver matter or devastate it where it stood, cast force fields to protect him and others from physical harm or harsh environments like the surface of the moon, etc. He demonstrated sufficient telekinetic power and control to prevent Cyclops and Jean Grey from accessing their mutant abilities in his presence. His armor protected him from significant levels of direct assault.

CABLE

CABLE

Real Name: Nathaniel Christopher Charles Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #201, January 1986 (As child); The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #87, March 1990 (As Cable)

Powers: Nathan Christopher Summers is the mutant son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madelyne Pryor, a genetic clone of the mutant named Jean Grey. His mutant abilities include telepathy, telekinesis, and limited astral time-travel; exhibiting the former two at a very early age.

As a baby, he was telepathically sensitive and could generate a telekinetic force bubble around himself to ward off attack and protect himself from harm. After being infected with Apocalypse's techno-organic virus and transported into a possible 40th century dystopian future, though, the larger portion of his fledgling psionic power was focused on constantly keeping his body together. His telekinesis worked to stop the spread of the virus while his telepathy constantly worked to dampen his sensitivity to the unbearable pain his body was constantly in. As he reached adulthood, his unrestrained telepathic and telekinetic abilities were phenomenal, but most of the time attempting to use them would weaken their grip on the virus, causing him great pain and letting the virus spread. During his teens, he met a fellow psionic named Blaquesmith who helped train him and activated the Professor, the Celestial artificial intelligence formerly known as "Ship" that directly interfaced with his techno-organic parts right before he was sent to the future as an infant, integrating itself into his mind and body. The Professor was able to monitor Nate's bio-signs and access his mutant powers to regulate the virus for Nathan. The Professor also provided him vast amounts of information stored in his databanks, mass and proximity sensors alerting him to potential threats, and wide-spectrum analytical scanning allowing him to monitor the life-signs of other beings, scan them for weaknesses, provide tactical suggestions, etc.

Something happened to him between his last recorded appearances in the future with the Clan Chosen and his first appearance in the present with Six Pack as Cable: His telekinesis was far weaker than it had ever been growing up and his telepathy was simply gone. By the time he began operating as Cable in the modern era, virtually the entire left side of his body had been co-opted by the virus. Cable had forced his T-O virus to work for him, incorporating various weapons and devices into the metal components. First, he used exterior camouflage that would disguise his techno-organics as non-living bionics or synthetic organic material. His strength level increased into the 1 to 5 ton range, and his left eye was equipped with infrared sights, night vision, and computerized targeting options. He often employed retractable laser or plasma weapons, finger torches, cyber-jacks for computer uplinking, and hidden compartments built in his metal for storage. Nathan also had latent transportation powers which the Professor coordinated for him through mechanical relays on Greymalkin, a massive space station Cable had brought back in time with him, complete with a teleportation matrix and TDC (Time Displacement Core). Using computerized commands, Cable could activate body- and tech-slide or time-rip transportation signatures in order to move through time and space. He could travel alone, or coordinate his systems to transport additional organic or mechanical mass. Bodyslide by One, for instance, would teleport him alone; Bodyslide by Six would teleport him and the five people in closest proximity to him; Bodyslide by Six, Pack Gene-Scan would isolate the genetic signatures of his Six Pack team for teleportation wherever they were in his general vicinity, and so on.

During his time with X-Force, Cable's telepathy returned and he began to hone his psionic powers to a greater degree than before. As a telepath, he can read minds and project thoughts, communicate mentally, create mental illusions, fire “mental bolts” used to stun or kill, project his astral form and travel to the astral plane, and exert mental control over a person’s mind. Telekinetically, he can levitate people and objects, create powerful telekinetic blasts, and create a telekinetic force shield.

His astral time travel abilities were completely latent. He could not consciously or deliberately access them at all. Their only use was to act as a catalyst for mechanically engineered space/time displacement, like his bodysliding, TDC, or Shi'ar technology. Essentially, he is a biological power source for time travel effects.

Of course, the extent of his abilities has fluctuated over the years, depending on the state of his T-O infection. After temporarily losing his powers, he began using an Askani weapon known as a psimitar lance to help focus his powers. The psimitar was made from a psycho-sensitive metal that drew upon and amplified the wielder's mental energy into blasts of energy. After his powers eventually returned, Nathan became capable of wielding the full potential of the psimitar. When the cure for the Legacy Virus was released into the world's atmosphere, Cable sensed that it had caused a subtle shift in his own T-O virus, making it possible for him to remove the virus. He succeeded in the attempt, and his power levels began to grow dramatically as a result. The T-O virus eventually returned, but with his expanded power levels, the virus was a minor nuisance at most. Being artificially reduced to childhood and then rapidly accelerating back to his actual age caused him to lose his powers again altogether.

To compensate, he began using technological aids to artificially duplicate his lost powers. He incorporated technology from the Dominus Objective into his mechanical systems, which allowed him to access the Infonet, the electronic datastream blanketing the planet. Essentially a mental and hyper-accurate search engine, Cable could scan through the entire contents of the internet, e-mails and personal correspondences, radio broadcasts, and anything ever transmitted by electromagnetic signal. The Objective enabled him to more efficiently sift through the Infonet's contents to locate whatever he wishes to find. Like telepathy, he can also use the Infonet to project data into other people's minds -- either sharing knowledge he has gleaned from the datastream or his own thoughts and memories. Unlike the intimate mind-touch of telepathy, though, being fed information by the Objective is like "feeling a book". Furthermore, Cable adopted a military force field project called the "Cone of Silence" into use as a personal body suit. He could surround himself with a gravimetric sheath, a protective shield which deflected any kind of personal attack and enabled him to levitate and fly at high speeds. It could also be manipulated outwardly, creating hands of energy which he could use to physically grab people or objects, moving them around or crushing them to pieces.

During the decade-plus he spent raising Hope Summers in the future, Cable's telepathy and telekinesis became active again, but he slowly lost control over his techno-organic virus as well. Later, the techno-organic infection was completely purged from Cable's body by Hope, using the power of the Phoenix. Although he is now unaffected, Cable's human form did not quickly recover or regenerate in the absence of the virus. His left eye is missing, leaving him with an eyepatch, and his left arm was weak and atrophied. He used a "battle-arm" designed by Forge, acting as an exoskeleton to support his arm's weight, provide a level of superhuman strength, and include several forms of micro-munitions launchers. Cable's psychic powers were also remotely manipulated by Blaquesmith and a future version of Hope. He had strong telepathy and telekinesis once more, in addition to fully realized precognitive abilities that fed him information on upcoming threats and disasters. The potency of the visions was so strong, however, it could potentially kill him. Forge and Doctor Nemesis developed a way to mechanically streamline Cable's future-sight, diverting it onto the "mission board" screens at their base for everyone to witness, and lessening the stress it puts on Cable's body at the same time.

Cable's abilities changed again following the Alexandria incident. He was injected with a biotech formula called the Volga effect, designed to weaponize mutant abilities and causing them to violently explode as their powers were destabilized. He attempted to stop the detonation by cutting off his own arm, but the formula continued to exist in his system. As a result, Cable and Doctor Nemesis devised a treatment placing him in cryogenic suspended animation, halting the destabilizing effects of the formula altogether. Sequential clones are then grown from Cable's corrupted cells, and mnemonically imprinted with a copy of his memories. These clones were just as unstable as the original Cable, and would die or explode every 24 hours due to the formula. The mnemonic headband he wore helped maintain some cerebral continuity for Cable between incarnations, recording and then transferring memories from one clone to the next. Cable was working on borrowed time, because his real body would lose two minutes of life every day when it was thawed out for the cloning process. Cable's powers were drastically limited in that state. He could manifest extremely mild telekinesis at times, as well as a few seconds of precognitive insight to guide him in combat. Mostly, he relied upon technological aids such as remote bodysliding and the bionic arm replacing his amputated one.

After Hope cured him of the Volga effect, Cable's capabilities were at an all-time low. He no longer possessed telepathy, telekinesis, or techno-organic capabilities. Even Cable was beginning to feel his physical age, making him weaker and more tired than in the past. He only possessed a limited precognitive ability at this time. Cable was revitalized during a temporal mission which streamlined various divergent timelines growing out of his complicated continuity. Cable merged with these timelines, gaining increased vitality and restoring his telepathy, telekinesis, and techno-organic components. Cable began operating as a temporal warrior, with timeslide and bodyslide capabilities integrated into his techno-organics. They were coordinated by Belle, a "tattoo" on his T-O arm that acted as an artificial intelligence maintaining his technological capabilities, as well as possessing ranged scanning sensors, wireless data retrieval, and so on.

Cable is a highly accomplished warrior and battle strategist. He is highly adept in many forms of hand to hand combat in the use of various forms of weaponry from both the 20th and 40th centuries. Cable also holds a law degree and is licensed to practice law by the New York bar association.

PRESTIGE

PRESTIGE

Real Name: Rachel Anne Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #141, January 1981

Powers: Formerly known as Phoenix III and Marvel Girl III, Rachel Summers is a mutant originally possessing moderate-to-high telepathic and telekinetic abilities inherited from her mother (Jean Grey of Earth-811). She can read minds, broadcast her thoughts, create realistic illusions in a person’s mind, project her astral form, control a person’s mind, communicate mentally, and project bolts of mental energy used to stun or kill a person. She can telekinetically move or manipulate objects with mental energy from her mind, erect force fields of telekinetic energy, and create bursts of telekinetic energy.

Her mutation also includes a time-shifting power. Through a psionic act, Rachel can take the astral consciousness of a living being and cast it through time and space. This allows Rachel or any other person she chooses to view the past as an invisible and intangible spectre before returning to their present. Rachel was also able to switch a person's mind with their own past counterpart, sending the future Kitty Pryde's mind to possess her Earth-616 past body and vice versa.

After becoming the host for the Phoenix Force, Rachel's powers expanded considerably. Her mutant powers dramatically increased in power and scope. She became capable of projecting the Phoenix Raptor around her body to shield herself from harm, survive in the vacuum of space, travel faster-than-light, and use the raptor's cosmic flame as a focus for tremendous energy to disable opponents. Her time-shifting power was also augmented so that she could physically travel through time. Rachel was now capable of jumping ahead a few second in the timeline in order to avoid attacks, or transport herself and others into completely different temporal eras. She also could rearrange molecular structures, and generate temporal shields as protection from time- or reality-based distortions.

After the Phoenix Force abandoned her body and she returned to the 616 timeline, Rachel's powers were greatly diminished back to roughly their original levels. Later, she was the pawn of Elias Bogan for some time. It remains unclear how this may have affected her long term, but Rachel came to possess a new power signature (a visible sign of her psychic abilities being used): Her skin turned jet-black in coloration and a Phoenix symbol appears over one eye. This effect faded after being exposed to Korvus' Blade of the Phoenix and she later manifested her power through the blue Phoenix flame of Rook'shir. This returned her to her Phoenix-potential power levels. However, the Phoenix fragment mysteriously left her once more.

GOBLIN QUEEN

GOBLIN QUEEN

Real Name: Madelyne Jennifer Pryor-Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #168, April 1983

Powers: Madelyne Pryor was a clone of Jean Grey, but originally possessed no powers of her own. The Asgardian mystical Firefountain transformed her temporarily into a healer called Anodyne. She could not only heal any physical wound or disease in this form, but also more specialized problems like Cyclops and Rogue's uncontrollable powers, Aurora's mental problems, Sasquatch's bouts of bestiality, and Puck's mystically-induced shortness. She lost these powers in short order, though.

When Madelyne was shaped by the demons of Inferno into the Goblin Queen, the demonic influence awakened and shaped her latent powers by tapping into the small portion of the Phoenix Force that empowers her consciousness to manifest telepathy and telekinesis. She also gained the abilities to rearrange molecular structures and convert people physically into demons. She also demonstrated mind reading, force fields, telekinetic blasts, flight, and the ability to influence the minds of others, corrupting their desires and seducing them into her service. After her death, a version of Madelyne was brought back accidentally by Nate Grey, a psychoplasmic entity containing an echo of Maddie's memories and personality. This "new" Madelyne was not actually flesh, but psychic energy molded by Nate's tremendous power to look and act like an organic being. In this incarnation, she demonstrated telepathic, telekinetic, and teleportation powers.

Madelyne later had an encounter with Queen Jean Grey of a parallel earth, who "killed" her and replaced her at Nate Grey's side. Madelyne then reappeared as the Red Queen, a psychically-powerful spirit without physical substance.

VULCAN

VULCAN

Real Name: Gabriel Summers
First Appearance: X-Men: Deadly Genesis (Vol. 1) #1, January 2006

Powers: Vulcan possesses the mutant power to manipulate energy. He is able to tap into any existing source of energy and bend it to his will. He is capable of flight, presumably due to an influence over graviton particles, and is capable of accelerating from a standing start to leave Earth's atmosphere in less than a minute. He is also able to project devastating amounts of energy as light, heat, force, magnetism, and electricity by tapping into, amplifying, and directing naturally-occurring photons, static electricity, and thermokinetic activity from his environment. His power seems capable of producing some kind of protective field, since he can both survive in the vacuum of space and withstand severe physical punishment. He can control directed energy beams or assaults, causing them to disperse or mentally altering their course.

Vulcan can also feel out the power source of an energy projection, reaching out with his power to shut it down on command. He can also use his power to control electronic systems, the electro-chemical current in the brain, etc. His power apparently extends to controlling the bio-energy patterns produced by a superhuman's power signature, letting him manipulate their powers directly. He can suppress energy to render his opponents powerless or access their abilities for his own purposes. It also appears that he doesn’t share the mutual power immunity that exists between his brothers, Cyclops, Havok, and X-Treme. Even so, he is capable of using his mutant power to bend their energies to his will.

When M-Day occurred, Vulcan was directly exposed to the Collective energy wave following the Decimation. This boosted his powers to omega-levels while temporarily giving him access to the geomorphic and temporal psychometry powers of his former teammates (Petra and Sway), while hosting Darwin's reactive evolutionary form.

CORSAIR

CORSAIR

Real Name: Christopher Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #104, April 1977

Powers: Corsair is a baseline human from Earth who possesses no superhuman powers. Prior to his capture and enslavement by the Shi’ar, Christopher Summers was already a superb pilot, and thanks to his military training, skilled at the use of various weapons and at hand-to-hand combat.

A member of the United States Air Force, he earned the rank of Major. As Corsair, he developed himself into a brilliant starship pilot. He also greatly improved his skills at hand-to-hand combat and mastered the use of various Shi'ar weapons. Corsair also become a highly accomplished swordsman. He also carried exo-gems on his uniform to store objects within pocket dimensional space for easy retrieval, including a pair of pulse blasters, grappling projector, and an alien metal fencing sword.

FONTANELLE

FONTANELLE

Real Name: Gloria Dayne
First Appearance: Gambit (Vol. 3) #1, February 1999

Powers: Fontanelle is a mutant telepath whose power specializes in psionic scanning. She can telepathically sift through an individual's memories as well as scan and impose herself in their dreams during REM sleep.

BLACK WOMB

BLACK WOMB

Real Name: Amanda Mueller
First Appearance: Gambit (Vol. 3) #4, May 1999

Powers: The Black Womb’s mutant power includes both advanced mutagenic levels and a stunted aging process. While this gives her an extended life span (near-immortality), her body still undergoes the normal progression of vitality, rendering her susceptible to the effects of aging.

MR. SINISTER

MR. SINISTER

Real Name: Nathaniel Essex
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #221, September 1987

Powers: Nathaniel Essex was a biologist in Victorian England when he received his abilities through bodily augmentations by the mutant known as Apocalypse. Apocalypse’s transformation of him served to activate his latent “x-factor” gene making him a mutant.

The transformation initially left him with pale white skin, an increased lifespan, and apparently some level of enhanced strength and resilience. He later incorporated the shape-shifting cells of a time-traveler mutant named Courier into his genetic structure, and manipulated them to their ultimate potential to give himself a number of special abilities. Mr. Sinister possesses superhuman strength, endurance, reflexes, and apparently an endless lifespan. He can manipulate the density and structure of his body to become nigh-invulnerable, or simply allow his regenerative powers to handle any damage. Sinister has had a baseball-sized hole blown straight through his skull and his upper body nearly severed from his lower, and in both cases he experienced no pain or discomfort. The damage regenerated itself completely within a matter of minutes. Despite false information he once gave to the X-Men, he is not vulnerable to Cyclops' optic blasts whatsoever. Though his shape-shifting powers are not as extensive as Apocalypse's, Sinister can still transform himself in moments into any human shape or form he can imagine.

He has also demonstrated the power to fire concussive energy blasts from his hands, and certain telekinetic and telepathic powers such as mind control, astral projection, the creation of mental blocks in his opponents' minds, and psionic backlashes to disable telepaths attempting to assault his mind. He also commands a tesseract laboratory, which employs folding space technology to access multiple locations around the world simultaneously. This technology also enables Sinister to teleport to and from virtually anywhere on the globe instantaneously.

A genius in genetics, Mr. Sinister is a brilliant biologist and a skilled surgeon. He is an expert in the science of cloning.

APOCALYPSE

APOCALYPSE

Real Name: En Sabah Nur
First Appearance: X-Factor (Vol. 1) #5, June 1986

Powers: Apocalypse is one of the first Earth-born mutants. His mutation originally consisted of superhuman strength, megamorphic capabilities, longevity, and energy discharges. He possesses Class 100 superhuman strength, superhuman agility, endurance, reflexes, and invulnerability. He can withstand a tremendous level of physical assault. As a megamorph, he can alter the molecular structure of his body in anyway in order to change his shape and form.

Apocalypse has an extremely long lifespan due to his status as an External. Externals are mutants who, in addition to having powers from their active x-factor gene, are gifted with near-immortality. An External’s immortality manifests at the point of their first mortal death. Externals apparently can die at the hands of another External’s powers, the Legacy Virus, or the destruction of their astral forms.

After becoming a techno-organic cyborg merged with Celestial technology, Apocalypse incorporated his mutant powers into those modifications. The mechanical aspects of his body are equally controllable by his powers, enabling him to transform his hands into giant drills or vise grips, stretch his arms, legs, or torso to great lengths, grow wings and/or jet booster engines in order to fly at supersonic speeds, and manifest projectile or energy weapons of various types out of his own skin. Apocalypse can also transform into human forms, completely hiding his cybernetic parts. He is capable of teleporting instantaneously from one location to another. His cybernetics contain sub-spatial accesses, allowing him to tap into vast storages of raw energy from his Celestial technology, amplifying any of his abilities to even greater levels. Apocalypse's costume is actually part of his body, and he can alter its appearance at will. He can also levitate himself telekinetically has demonstrated some level of telepathic skill.

Despite his External status, he is unable to exert his accumulated power levels indefinitely, requiring him to spend decades at a time in rejuvenation chambers or transition into a new form. The various techno-organic viruses in his body have added a polymorphic capacity to his DNA to make it highly adaptable to take that new form. He does this either by taking possession of a living host or mixing his blood with raw materials, using his T-O virus to re-write existing genetic codes to reincarnate himself with all his powers and memories from existing sources of living or dead tissue over a period of time.

Apocalypse is an extraordinary genius possessing knowledge of genetic engineering, technology, and various areas of science that is advanced beyond humanity. He is also a master strategist.

HAVOK

HAVOK

Real Name: Alexander Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #54, March 1969

Powers: Havok’s mutant power is that his body constantly absorbs ambient cosmic energy (ambient stellar radiation, x-rays, and even gamma rays) into his body and stores it within special enclaves in his body cells. He can then release that energy as waves of force that heat the air in its path, turning it into plasma, the super-heated state of matter. This energy radiates out from his chest as concentric rings that expand larger and larger as he powers up. In discharging a plasma blast, he normally focuses it along his arms and out from his fists, but can in fact cause the rings to angle and discharge out in any direction from his body.

His plasma blasts instantly raise the temperature of whatever they strike thousands of degrees, and this sudden shift in thermal energy causes most objects to violently explode or simply disintegrate. Havok has learned how to divert the impact of his plasma blasts so that they only displace the air in his path, causing concussive shockwaves which are still effective in battle but far less lethal than turning a direct plasma blast on a living being.

Originally, Havok could not control his power and wore a suit that monitored and regulated his energy output. Eventually, he overcame this difficulty though training. Havok is also immune to the optic blasts of his brother, Cyclops, the biochemical energy blasts of his younger maternal half-brother, X-Treme, and vice-versa.

Alex Summers holds a masters degree in geophysics with some doctoral work completed. He is also an instinctive tactician and strategist.

CYCLOPS

CYCLOPS

Real Name: Scott Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, September 1963

Powers: Cyclops’ mutant power is the ability absorb ambient solar energy and electricity into his optic nerves. He then metabolizes the energy in order to open a dimensional aperture through his eyes to unleash a ruby-colored form of heatless exotic energy. Cyclops' eyes are no longer the complex organic jelly that utilizes the visible spectrum of light to see the world around it. Instead, by absorbing said energies, they become inter-dimensional apertures between this universe and another, non-Einsteinian universe, where physical laws as we know them do not pertain. This non-Einsteinian universe is filled with particles that resemble photons, yet they interact with this universe's particles by transferring kinetic energy in the form of gravitons (the particle of gravitation). These particles generate great, directional concussive force when they interact with the objects of this universe. The ambient energies he absorbs only serve to open the apertures, it does not affect how powerful his blasts are (though he has shown himself capable of mentally adjusting the intensity of his optic blasts to some degree).

Cyclops' mind has a particular psionic field that is attuned to the forces that maintain the apertures that have opened via his eyes. Because his mind's psionic field envelops his body, it automatically shunts the other-dimensional particles back into their point of origin when they collide with his body. Thus, his body is protected from the effects of the particles, and even the thin membrane of his eyelids is sufficient to block the emission of energy. The synthetic ruby quartz crystal used to fashion the lenses of Cyclops' eyeglasses and visor is resonant to his minds' psionic field and is similarly protected.

The width of his optic blasts seems to be focused by his mind's psionic field with the same autonomic function that regulated his eyes' ability to focus. As Cyclops focuses, the size of the aperture changes and thus act as a valve to control the flow of particles and beam's relative power. The height of the optic blast is controlled by his visor's adjustable slit. His narrowest beam, about the diameter of a pencil at a distance of 4 feet has a force of about 2 pounds per square inch. His broadest beam, about 90 feet across at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of about 10 pounds per square inch. His most powerful blast was a beam 4 feet across which, at a distance of 50 feet, has a force of 500 pounds per square inch, but that has since been surpassed. The maximum angular measurement of his optic blast is equivalent to a wide-angle 35mm camera lens field of view (90 degrees when measured diagonally). The minimum angular measurement is equivalent to the angle that the thickness of a pencil would subtend at 4 feet (3.5 degree, about a quarter of an inch viewed at 4 feet). The beam's effective range is about 2,000 feet, at which point a 1-inch beam has spread out to 10 feet square, and then has a pressure of .38 pounds per square inch. His maximum force is sufficient to tip over a filled 5,000 gallon tank at a distance of 20 feet, or puncture a 1-inch carbon-steel plate at a distance of 2 feet. The extra dimensional supply of energy for Cyclops' optic blast is practically infinite. Thus, so long as Cyclops' psionic field is active (which is constantly), there is the potential to emit energy. Because his power source is so plentiful, and because the apertures only require a small fraction of energy in order to stay open, it is virtually impossible for Cyclops to deplete the energy needed to power them.

The only limit to the optic blast is the mental fatigue of focusing constantly. After about 15 minute of constant usage, the psionic field subsides and allows only a slight leakage of energy to pass through the aperture. Cyclops' metabolism will recover sufficiently for him to continue in about an additional 15 minutes.

For years, it was believed that brain damage sustained in childhood during the first manifestation of his mutant ability rendered him unable to control his power. However, it was later established that Cyclops subconsciously decided to make his optic blasts uncontrollable so that he would be forced to remain constantly vigilant. His eyes constantly emit optic blasts and he does not direct them to cease fire. The only ways that Cyclops can suppress his optic blasts are by shutting his eyes or by donning eyeglasses (or his visor) made from ruby quartz that diffuses the optic energy, thus rendering it undetectable. His visor has gone from being controlled by dials on the side to studs on his gloves to being completely controlled by cybernetic signals picked up from his brain. Cyclops can mentally cause the visor to adjust its lenses, making his blast as thin as a pencil or over a meter wide. The unique properties of the blasts also enable him to perform "bank shots", ricocheting the beams off of solid objects in order to hit multiple targets at once. Cyclops is immune to the effects of his own power. There also exists a mutual power immunity between both him, his brother, Havok, and their younger maternal half-brother, X-Treme.

It was assumed that the aftermath of his experiences as a host for the Phoenix Force left his power in a malfunctioning state. As a result, his optic blasts would spray out uncontrollably in multiple directions simultaneously. This allowed him to hit many targets at once, even outside his line of sight as the beams curved themselves, but he could not always control where the beams went. It was later revealed that the power disruption was due to nano-Sentinels that the Dark Beast unleashed on the five hosts. Cyclops suffered fatal exposure to the Inhumans' Terrigen Mists and died of M-Pox. He was later revealed to be alive due to Kid Cable siphoning off a portion of the Phoenix Force and using it to resurrect Cyclops' body.

Cyclops is also an experienced battle tactician, strategist, and pilot of multiple aircraft.
