LACTUCA THE KNOWER

Real Name: Lactuca
First Appearance: Planet Size X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, June 2021

Powers: Lactuca is an omega-level mutant who physically appears as a robed figure resembling the night sky. He possesses a form of unlimited knowledge along with the mutant power to know the exact position of all people and objects in known space, and can trace changes in their position in real time to comprehend movement and trajectories. It is unknown whether his awareness applies solely to the universe or the entire omniverse.

XILO THE FIRST DEFENDER

XILO THE FIRST DEFENDER

Real Name: Xilo
First Appearance: Planet Size X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, June 2021

Powers: Xilo the First Defender is an omega-level mutant with large-sized earthworm characteristics. His mutant power is to disassemble into mutant earthworms, burrowing down into the soil. He is able to integrate with the soil, at which point he can sample the molecular and chemical content of the land, make small adjustments to its aspects such as pH levels and micro-organisms, or massive changes like carving enormous statues from mountainsides. Using his power to terraform the planet Mars, he supplied nutrients and minerals, created bacteria, and such for the planet to be able to support life. He also produced plant growth on Mars to support a breathable atmosphere.

SOBUNAR OF THE DEPTHS

SOBUNAR OF THE DEPTHS

Real Name: Sobunar
First Appearance: Planet Size X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, June 2021

Powers: Sobunar of the Depths is an omega-level mutant whose physical mutation grants him a the appearance of a bidpedal axolotl. He possesses amphibious characteristics and stands three times the average human height.

His mutant power is that his bloodstream contains an entire oceanic ecosystem. Instead of blood, his body fluid
is a complex mixture of 96.5% water, 2.5% salts, and smaller amounts of other substances, including dissolved inorganic and organic materials, particulates, and a few atmospheric gases. When his power is enhanced, his oxygenated blood can create oceans on planetary scales.

ISCA THE UNBEATEN

ISCA THE UNBEATEN

Real Name: Isca
First Appearance: X-Men (Vol. 5) #12, September 2020

Powers:
Isca the Unbeaten is an omega-level mutant born with a power described as an inability to lose. The mechanism for Isca’s power has not been defined, and it does not seem to directly or obviously affect her environment or her own body (i.e.: She does not adapt new traits or powers in reaction to threats, and she doesn't exert influence over her surroundings to actively change them to her advantage. She simply wins).

Her power is expressed through her physical prowess, including incredible agility, reaction time, accuracy, ambidexterity and more. If challenged, she can act with phenomenal precision and strike a target even while blindfolded. It also extends into her cognitive faculties, anything from guessing what number someone is thinking of to identifying weaknesses for advanced tactical analysis. It even allows her to forecast the future, compelling her to change sides in a war once her power ascertains that her current allies will be defeated. This indicates a limit to her abilities, for any given army will not win simply because she is associated with them. It's also unknown if she could choose to lose (remaining with the losing side, for instance), or if she has a biological compulsion to follow her power's influence.

KID OMEGA

KID OMEGA

Real Name: Quintavius Quirinius Quire
First Appearance: New X-Men #134, January 2003

Powers: Quentin Quire developed into an omega-level mutant telepath/telekinetic, although it was a rather haphazard evolution. As an early mutant, Quentin possessed several non-assuming mental abilities. The Stepford Cuckoos described him as having a "see-through mind", indicating his thoughts were immune to detection or manipulation by other psionics. He demonstrated an immunity to Slick's psychic illusions, and was able to extend this immunity to others at will. He has advanced cognition, enabling him to formulate ten million brilliant thoughts per second, an indication of his superhuman intelligence. Quentin was capable of advanced parallel processing, focusing on numerous lines of thought simultaneously, while also demonstrating considerable recall and creativity.

Once he found his confidence and declared himself as Kid Omega (albeit after experimenting with the mutant enhancement drug called Kick), Quentin began demonstrating the full range of traditional telepathic abilities. He could read minds, communicate through psi-links, cast sensory illusions or trap people in illusory mental landscapes similar to the psionic Black Bug Room projections. Quentin also demonstrated superhuman charisma, using his telepathy to bolster his ability to attract and convince others of what he's saying, making them susceptible to his commands.

When his omega-level potential was revealed, Quentin evolved beyond his human body, becoming a loose collection of thoughts constantly interacting with the entire human race's subconscious. His flesh collapsed into a residual liquid state. On more than one occasion, Quentin showed the ability to return to flesh, reconstituting his human form to interact with the physical world for a time before reverting to his astral state. His enhanced potential was awakened in his human form now, allowing him to show powers of levitation and telekinesis for the first time. Kade Kilgore returned Quentin to the flesh for the final time, and Kid Omega has remained human instead of an Omega-level astral consciousness ever since. Whether he can still return to that form is unknown. Kid Omega retains both telepathic and telekinetic powers, as well as his super-intelligence. A combination of his intelligence and telepathy has allowed him to construct entire mental realities to contain people, a full-functional world programmed by his mind with physical laws, structures, semi-independent acting opponents, and so on. It was the equivalent of mentally running every aspect of an open-world MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) video game on psionic power alone. Quentin has also begun to specialize in create psychoplasmic weapons to contain and direct his powers. Instead of Psylocke's psychic knife, however, Quentin creates psychic shotguns or rocket launchers to shoot people with his mind, causing telepathic or telekinetic damage to his targets.

Quentin Quire has also gone against the Phoenix Force, identified as a potential future host and interacting with the present day Phoenix briefly. Depending on the amount he's tapping into the Phoenix Force at a given time, Quentin's powers could increase even further for feats such as space travel, faster-than-light travel, molecular manipulation, cosmic firebirds, and so on.

ELIXIR

ELIXIR

Real Name: Joshua Foley
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 2) #5, November 2003

Powers: Elixir is an omega-level mutant with the ability to manipulate organic matter on a sub-molecular level. Mostly, he was originally limited to using his power for healing purposes. By focusing on himself or on someone else he's touching, Elixir can rebuild damaged tissue and heal all kinds of injuries, from minor to fatal. He does not need to understand what he's doing on a practical level, only focus on what he's generally trying to do. For instance, he was able to remove the neutralizer block on Wolfsbane's powers and awaken Magma out of a deep coma without understanding what his power was actually doing to them to accomplish this.

After nearly dying himself once, Elixir healed himself in a burst of energy that for some reason turned his skin golden in color with a flexible metallic texture. Later, extreme emotions caused him to manifest his powers offensively, creating an effect on contact which made flesh bubble and grow putrid, causing tremendous pain and disfigurement in his victims, and ultimately killing them if he wished. It wasn't clear whether he was directly affecting the organic molecules or causing naturally-occurring bacteria and germ agents to replicate beyond the human body's ability to cope. Furthermore, using his power in this manner caused his golden skin to turn deathly black.

He later recovered and returned to his golden complexion, but patches of a dark, mercury-like substance remained on his flesh, moving about on his skin as if they had a will of their own. Elixir later gained greater knowledge on how to use his powers, by asking the Cuckoos to draw medical knowledge out of Hank McCoy's mind and into his own. Elixir became skilled enough to create an entirely new heart in in another man's body and restore him to life, after the man's old heart was ripped out of his chest. His powers can also restore him to life, even after fatal injuries.

At his present skill level, he can
repair existing tissue or regrow lost tissue out of ambient molecules, manipulate biological functions to force sleep and other reactions, extract microorganisms or nano-viruses from living systems, induce cancers, tumors, and other bio-hazards and pathogens, and even raise the dead.

Elixir was self-taught to Ph.D. levels in biochemistry and also has extensive knowledge of genetics and other scientific fields.

MISTER M

MISTER M

Real Name: Absolon Zebardyn Mercator
First Appearance: District X (Vol. 1) #2, August 2004

Powers: Mister M’s mutant power is absolute control over molecular structures, enabling him to perform any conceivable feat.

An omega-level mutant, he used his power to heal living beings of mental and physical illnesses, produce energy blasts of heat, force, electricity, and nuclear energy, become intangible, genetically transform mutants into humans and even negate or augment mutant powers, generate simulacra of living beings, create force fields, levitate himself and other objects, survive massive injuries, create spontaneous nuclear reactions, repair damaged machinery, evolve life forms, and painfully or lethally scramble organic molecules.

He can turn an opponent inside-out, or exhibit sufficient control over his own molecular structure in order to reach into their chest with an intangible hand and stop their heart. His mind gives off a field of psionic static, making him immune to telepathic probing and creating painful feedback/severe disorientation for any telepath attempting to do so.

His head is crowned with a cluster of tentacles which he typically conceals beneath a fedora. Despite lacking any formal education, Mister M was an avid reader and a self taught authority on a wide variety of subjects.

EXODUS

EXODUS

Real Name: Bennet du Paris
First Appearance: X-Factor (Vol. 1) #92, July 1993

Powers: Exodus’ mutant power is psionic in nature. He can siphon psionic energy from various sources such as another person’s life-force, heightened emotional state, and/or even from his own personal convictions. He then metabolizes that psionic energy to saturate his body with a wide range of enhanced superhuman powers. Exodus can also absorb psionic energy directly, such as when he fed off of Nate Grey's telepathic and telekinetic assaults during a battle.

Among the powers he has demonstrated thus far include superhuman strength, speed, endurance and reflexes, invulnerability, telepathy, telekinesis (omega-level), interplanetary teleportation, flight, the ability to generate force fields for protection or to obliterate anything that touches them, and both psionic and plasmic blasts of energy. Some sources also suggest his physical strength, endurance, and invulnerability also increase at times, but there could be a psionic base behind that as well.

His greatest display of power consisted of psionically amplifying Genoshan Mutates' hatred of humans, attempting to crush the island nation of Genosha with a massive telekinetic force field, immobilizing Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch, Crystal Maximoff, and Jean Grey in another force field, mentally resisting Professor X's telepathic control, and protecting himself from physical attacks all while single-handedly battling both the X-Men and the Avengers.

LEGION

LEGION

Real Name: David Charles Haller
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #25, March 1985

Powers: Legion’s mutant ability is to manifest new mutant powers at will, altering his own genetic code to both support and develop any super-power or set of super-powers he can imagine. His initial power manifestation was so traumatic that it splintered his mind into multiple personalities, with each personality controlling a different mutant power. He formerly utilized a wrist keypad to focus his power, enabling him to summon his abilities without the personality associated with them for a short period of time.

An omega-level mutant, he has demonstratd the following abilities over the years: Telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, superhuman strength, speed, x-ray vision, clairvoyance, teleportation, empathic amplification & force conversion, shape-shifting, mass-shifting, lycanthropy, heat-siphoning, sonic scream, flight, spear-like arms, elastic and prehensile tongue, animation of unliving materials, transmuting matter into salt, acoustic blasts, electrical blasts, viral genetic pattern, corrosive bile, time-travel, time manipulation, and pocket reality construction.

PROTEUS

PROTEUS

Real Name: Kevin MacTaggert
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #125, September 1979

Powers: Proteus is an omega-level mutant able to manipulate and alter reality in any way he can imagine via psionic influence exerted over fundamental forces and principles. His power was limited by line-of-sight and could only affect matter within his visual range. He most commonly used his ability to ripple space and matter around him, like objects seen through swirling water. This can be extremely disorienting and even maddening to living beings. He can dramatically restructure matter and energy, such as turning a rifle into a snake or Cyclops's optic blast into a harmless spray of flowers. This effect could also animate non-living matter, turning buildings into anthropomorphic constructs or making objects seemingly come to life and attack people. He could make solid structures crumble to the ground or explode violently. Proteus could also manipulate gravity in order to levitate and fly or increase the weight of other people and objects.

Proteus also possesses telepathic abilities that enable him to read minds and attack at psychic levels. He could use his telepathy to communicate telepathically or erect mental shields to block other telepaths. Proteus could also absorb information from people or computer systems by touching them, and cross dimensional barriers at will.

In his natural form, he existed in a vulnerable, but dangerous state of pure psionic energy. Originally, he could take possession of human bodies to contain his vast energies and could possess anyone within a few feet of his position. Possession gave Proteus access to all his victim's memories and emotions. His energies would eventually “burn out” his host bodies (as he did with his own natural body), killing them in the process. His energies quickly ate away at their physical frame, causing them to shrivel like a used up husk until the body could sustain him no more and he needed to find another.

His energy form had a natural aversion to metal, making it the only thing that could block his powers or possession, and disperse his energy state. Upon his first resurrection, Proteus had bonded with the energy-absorbing mutant known as Piecemeal, effectively removing his weakness to metal and need for host bodies, until he committed suicide and returned to discorporation. He was resurrected again under the House of M reality with all his classic weaknesses, but later escaped Wanda's reordering of the universe by traveling to another dimension. During the Exiles' hunt for Proteus, he possessed Angel of House of M, Mimic of the Exiles, Justice of the New Universe, and Hulk of 2099 in turn, assimilating portions of their psyches in the process. The Exiles ultimately caged him when he found a non-degrading host body in the Exile known as Morph, and the Exiles used the Behavior Modification machine from Earth-S to reprogram him to believe himself to actually be Morph. His return to the 616 Universe during the events of Necrosha left him with the ability possess multiple host bodies at once.

MONARCH

JAMIE BRADDOCK

Real Name: James Braddock, Jr.
First Appearance: Captain Britain (Vol. 1) #9, December 1976

Powers: James "Jamie" Braddock possesses the omega-level mutant power of reality manipulation via quantum means. Jamie perceives reality as an inter-connected web of quantum strings crisscrossing in all directions throughout his surroundings, with people and objects appearing as particularly dense masses of strands. By pulling on these strings or molding them, he can alter reality according to his whims. Jamie has demonstrated telekinetic and telepathic feats, reshaping people into other individuals, animals or grotesque caricatures, making them shrink or grow, redirecting energy, or changing memories. He could also watch objects in other realities, even granting powers to them. Originally he could only manipulate dense forms (phased beings had some level of resistance) and needed to be close enough to touch the strings they were composed of, and if his concentration was disrupted, some items or people changed would spontaneously revert to normal.

There may have been a correlation between his sanity and his power level, as both increased noticeably after he spent time in a coma. With a simple act of will, he could later generate vast, complex illusions, redirect another’s teleportation effect, and open inter-dimensional portals. He could raise the dead, and render someone immune to external influences by tightening their quantum strings, removing the gaps; however, Jamie remained able to affect them at will, possibly because he knew which strings were left available to pull. He created functional copies of the Fury, and could presumably copy other objects too. Jamie appeared to be largely impervious to physical damage; even having large holes shot through him causes purely cosmetic damage that swiftly vanished. He was also able to listen in on telepathic conversations between his siblings, although this power may have been unrelated to his other abilities.

The first manifestation of his mutant ability, combined with mystical manipulations, left him unable to discern fantasy from reality. As a result, Jamie believes himself to be dreaming and uses his power freely. He believes himself to be simply manipulating the dream to fulfill his fantasies without any consequences for others.

Jamie Braddock was an expert race car driver, able to accurately assess a car's optimal speed, turn radius, braking distance, demonstrating skill levels acquired through years of learning and cultivating into his reflexes. Formerly a successful and wealthy Formula One racing car driver, he won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship twice.

STORM

STORM

Real Name: Ororo Munroe
First Appearance: Giant Size X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, May 1975

Powers: Storm has the omega-level mutant ability to manipulate the meteorological energy patterns of the planet she is currently on, allowing her to manipulate and control the weather. She is linked to Earth specifically, and tends to require some time to readjust her powers to the different environments and biospheres of other worlds. Her power can be used in space, but somewhat sporadically. Storm is sensitive to the patterns of electromagnetic energy which influence and guide weather phenomena. She can both mentally and visually recognize how weather patterns are forming, and predict rain, snowstorms, or whatever with extreme accuracy. Storm commands the wind, allowing her to summon anything from a slight breeze to a hurricane force gale. She can form cyclones and tornadoes of various sizes, and direct them to move about at her will. Naturally, she is also able to use the wind to fly.

She is able to form cloud cover on command, blocking out the sun or creating a pea-soup fog at ground level. Storm is then capable of seeding clouds in order to summon any form of precipitation: Rain, sleet, snow, hail, etc. Her power over the wind allows her to aim skyfall at any target, and make it fly almost parallel to the ground if she chooses. She can summon thunder and lightning as well, calling bolts of electricity out of the sky to strike her targets. Combining wind and rain, thunder and lightning can create monsoons and massive storms within a matter of moments. Storm can also ionize the atmosphere around her hands, giving the impressions that she is firing lightning bolts from her own body.

She can manipulate the temperature of her environment, causing sudden heat waves or drop the temperature down to sub-freezing levels.

Storm has used her power over the weather for a number of specific feats as well. She is sensitive to electricity, and can alter her vision so that she perceives her environment solely in terms of electrical flow. Controlled generation of electrical energy can scramble psionic signatures, making her mind more difficult to read or control. She can create a quasi-force field with a pressurized mass of air. She is able to manipulate water, and influence currents and such, but water is a much thicker medium than air and takes a considerable amount of power to affect. Storm also has a certain resistance to the weather effects she generates: Her body is capable of absorbing electricity without harm, and she regulates her body temperature in different climates to remain comfortable despite super-tropical or sub-freezing environments.

Storm has an extraordinary ability for lock and pocket picking, she is also an excellent marksman with handguns.

HOPE SUMMERS

HOPE SUMMERS

Real Name: Hope Summers (born Spalding)
First Appearance: X-Men (Vol. 2) #205, January 2008

Powers: Hope Summers is an omega-level mutant uniquely connected to the mutant race in ways not fully understood. Hope was specifically designed by the Phoenix-Force to restart mutant evolution on Earth. Her very birth triggered the resurgence of the mutant gene in humanity despite the reality-altering Decimation mandate of the Scarlet Witch that prevented new mutants from being born or manifesting anywhere across realities.

During the period of time before the Decimation was reversed, Hope had a number of unique attributes. Other mutants only manifested after Hope returned to the present timeline and manifested her own powers. These manifestations were only partial, requiring Hope to make physical contact with these neo-mutants, or "Lights", before their abilities could fully develop. Hope also had a superhuman level of control or influence over the Lights. Their devotion to her manifested in different ways: Velocidad was attracted to her, Zero saw her as a muse, Primal identified her as "master", etc. They naturally felt inclined to do what she wanted and be what she wanted them to be in her presence. Direct commands from Hope could override their willpower entirely. Hope also had some level of influence over the rest of the mutant race, to varying effect. When talking to the Stepford Cuckoos, one seemed highly taken with Hope, one ambivalent, and the last rejected her. Since the Decimation spell was undone by Hope and Wanda, these unique attributes of Hope's existence no longer seem applicable. New mutants manifest without her assistance, and she no longer demonstrates any influence over the Lights or others.

Her own mutant power is "pluripotent echopraxia", allowing her to duplicate the powers of other mutants in her vicinity by replicating their mutatgenic auras. Hope can copy multiple power signatures simultaneously, the upper limit of which is unknown. She is able to access other mutants' abilities so long as she is in their presence. Once she leaves their presence, Hope maintains her copied powers based on how often she uses them.

Active use of a copied power set can cause her to lose those abilities in a matter of hours after leaving the original's presence. If she chooses not to use the power set, however, those abilities may remain in her system for days until she chooses to use them. Hope copies the current state of another mutant's powers, for good or ill. For instance, when Cable was given an injection of the Volga effect that made his powers lethally unstable, Hope copying his powers made them unstable in her body as well. Hope can demonstrate the abilities of any pre- or post-Decimation mutant. She can manifest multiple abilities at once and can manifest mutation in latent mutants. Post-Decimation new mutants experienced only partial development of their powers, or were unable to control their abilities consciously, until Hope made physical contact with them and caused their mutation to fully manifest. In addition to mimicry, she can activate and direct the powers of mutants nearby, or improve those abilities (alone or in synergy with other mutants).

VULCAN

VULCAN

Real Name: Gabriel Summers
First Appearance: X-Men: Deadly Genesis (Vol. 1) #1, January 2006

Powers: Vulcan possesses the mutant power to manipulate energy. He is able to tap into any existing source of energy and bend it to his will. He is capable of flight, presumably due to an influence over graviton particles, and is capable of accelerating from a standing start to leave Earth's atmosphere in less than a minute. He is also able to project devastating amounts of energy as light, heat, force, magnetism, and electricity by tapping into, amplifying, and directing naturally-occurring photons, static electricity, and thermokinetic activity from his environment. His power seems capable of producing some kind of protective field, since he can both survive in the vacuum of space and withstand severe physical punishment. He can control directed energy beams or assaults, causing them to disperse or mentally altering their course.

Vulcan can also feel out the power source of an energy projection, reaching out with his power to shut it down on command. He can also use his power to control electronic systems, the electro-chemical current in the brain, etc. His power apparently extends to controlling the bio-energy patterns produced by a superhuman's power signature, letting him manipulate their powers directly. He can suppress energy to render his opponents powerless or access their abilities for his own purposes. It also appears that he doesn’t share the mutual power immunity that exists between his brothers, Cyclops, Havok, and X-Treme. Even so, he is capable of using his mutant power to bend their energies to his will.

When M-Day occurred, Vulcan was directly exposed to the Collective energy wave following the Decimation. This boosted his powers to omega-levels while temporarily giving him access to the geomorphic and temporal psychometry powers of his former teammates (Petra and Sway), while hosting Darwin's reactive evolutionary form.

FRANKLIN RICHARDS

POWERHOUSE

Real Name: Franklin Benjamin Richards
First Appearance: Fantastic Four Annual (Vol. 1) #6, November 1968

Powers: Franklin Richards is the son of Reed and Sue Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four). The cosmic radiation which altered the Richards' genes to give them superhuman abilities resulted in the development of an x-gene in their son's genetic structure. As a result, Franklin was born a mutant and, unlike most mutants, manifested his powers during childhood.

Franklin possesses phenomenal potential for mental powers, including telepathy, telekinesis, and reality altering. Early occasions showed Franklin capable of atomizing living beings with explosive psionic force, bestowing superhuman physical and psionic powers on other people ("Ego-Spawn"), and aging himself and his powers to adulthood on a whim ("Avatar"). After this last incident, the adult Franklin returned himself to childhood, placing psionic dampeners on his own mind to keep his abilities in check until he reached adulthood. A small fragment of his powers still managed to manifest itself through the dampeners, though, and it was during this period of time that Franklin was a member of the Power Pack as Tattletale. He began receiving precognitive visions in his dreams, as his unconscious mind began playing out scenarios based on upcoming events. These dreams varied in intensity and accuracy, but always represented something that was going to happen in the near future. He could also project his "dream-self", similar to an astral form. Tattletale would project his consciousness as a psionic representation of his physical body, visible to the naked eye and indistinguishable from his normal appearance. His "dream-self" was intangible and could travel anywhere he could conceive of in an instant. His mind was still active in his body while his "dream-self" was out, though: He could send his psi-form out on reconnaissance, and physically report to others what his "dream-self" was perceiving at another location.

His other powers began to manifest themselves far more frequently, however, and Franklin's psionic potential was beginning to rage out of control. His grandfather, Nathaniel Richards, removed him from our timeline and raised him in a parallel reality, sending him back to the Fantastic Four the instant after he left, only now as a teenager. Franklin, now called Psi-Lord, had full access to and relatively good control over his telepathic and telekinetic powers now, capable of performing all the standard feats associated with those abilities (read minds, communicate psionically, control or alter thoughts and memories, create illusions, project psionic force blasts or fields, levitate himself and other forms of matter, etc). He also used wrist braces which allowed him to access a full suit of psi-sensitive armor, normally stored in a pocket dimension. This suit was equipped with psi-sensitive materials that could dampen his psi-energy to safe levels if he got out of control, and harness his powers to channel them safely without risking an overload. The suit also contained a series of sensors capable of detecting energy signatures, psionic activity, dimensional transits, etc. At one point, though, Franklin's powers began to manifest uncontrollably, creating a series of pseudo-independent counterparts: Tattletale, Ego-Spawn, and Avatar. Eventually, his alternate timeline son, Hyperstorm modified the timeline to return Franklin to his correct age, effectively undoing Psi-Lord's existence.

Often considered to be the most powerful mutant ever born, his reality altering power is such that he can create entire universes at will. He can control their growth, shape their physical laws, conjure new elements to the universe (as Onslaught did with Franklin's powers when he created a second sun in the sky). He hasn't demonstrated absolute power over life and death, however, other than nurturing the development of life in his pocket universes. So while there were many, many people created by Franklin to inhabit the Heroes Reborn universe, he hadn't shown the ability to individually wish them in and out of existence. His reality-altering mutant ability is universal and omega-level as he can manipulate matter and energy, laws of physics, and has demonstrated control over memory and history.

MAGNETO

MAGNETO

Real Name: Max Eisenhardt
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, September 1963

Powers: One of the world’s most powerful (Omega-level) mutants, Magneto possesses a high electrolyte count in his bloodstream which increases his personal bio-magnetic field. Furthermore, that field resonates on the same wavelength as the Earth's own electromagnetic field, placing him in attune with the energy patterns of the entire planet. This allows him to manipulate magnetism and other electromagnetic forces in a variety of ways.

Magneto is capable of using magnetism to levitate, position, and manipulate anything made of or containing ferrous molecules. He can influence intricate moving parts within a machine or hurl tons of metal through the air at over 100 mph. By gathering trace metallic molecules and adhering them to solid objects, Magneto is capable of utilizing his power to manipulate non-metallic items in much the same way as he does metallic ones. He can levitate himself in order to fly, and is capable of generating magnetic energy as concussive blasts from his hands, or to shape force fields for protection or containment purposes. His own natural bio-magnetic field tends to provide him with an increased resistance to impact at all times, even without a visibly present force field. In addition, he can weave a magnetic force through the metallic fibers of his uniform, making the thin material the equivalent of battle armor. Magneto is capable of manipulating metals at a molecular level in order to superheat objects, causing them to melt. He can harmlessly absorb electricity into his own magnetic fields, and can produce electrical energy as a by product of his own powers.

He can also use immense cold like a super-conductor to magnify his powers. Magneto is sensitive to the electromagnetic field, and so can detect the presence and movement of anything metallic or with an electromagnetic signature in his vicinity. He may even be capable of sensing the electrical activity in the human brain, alerting him to the presence of living beings. Magneto can manipulate the iron content in human bodies for various effects, making people woozy, experience intense pain, or fall unconscious. He can also trigger aneurysms to quietly kill a victim, or violently tear their body apart by causing all their blood vessels to rupture and burst open. He can also aid the healing process by magnetically holding back blood flow and clotting open wounds.

Magneto is an extraordinary genius with expertise in genetic engineering and other areas of technology. He is also a master strategist.

MARVEL GIRL

MARVEL GIRL

Real Name: Jean Grey-Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, September 1963

Powers: Sometimes known as the Marvel Girl or Phoenix, Jean Grey is gifted with the mutant powers of telepathy and telekinesis. Through years of improving and refining her abilities, she has become one of the world’s most powerful psionic talents

Initially, she manifested telepathic abilities at an early age, and they almost destroyed her mind until Charles Xavier helped her control her mutation. Xavier placed psychic dampeners on Jean that blocked her from accessing her telepathy, encouraging her instead to develop the telekinetic powers she had also manifested. After joining the X-Men as Marvel Girl, Jean's telekinesis was rather limited, preventing her from affecting objects weighing more than herself. She could levitate small objects and move them around from a distance, and was skilled enough to manipulate things she couldn't see, like the mechanisms inside a lock or anything if she was blindfolded. Though she couldn't fly yet, Jean could "boost" to launch herself over a wall and slow her descent when coming down. She could not create force fields yet, and had to consciously "push" projectiles or other attacks away from her.

Her powers continued to grow, though, especially after Xavier unlocked her telepathic abilities (mind reading, thought projection, excellent memory recall, astral projection, illusion casting, mind control, manipulation of mental and bodily processes, and projection of mental force bolts) before going underground for a time. Marvel Girl developed her abilities to hover and move around through the air at low speeds, and project telekinetic blasts and shields. After suffering serious radiation poisoning, Jean was placed in a recuperative suspended animation by the Phoenix Force, until she was woken up years later by Reed Richards. Her awakening was ahead of schedule, and damaged her so that she could not access her telepathic powers. Her telekinesis, however, had developed much stronger in her recuperation period. Jean could now levitate tons of matter at a time, and could now full-out fly while carrying additional people with her. As time passed, glimpses of telepathy resurfaced for her until she was psychically attacked by Psynapse, reawakening her telepathy completely.

Dropping the codename "Marvel Girl", Jean Grey later would take the name "Phoenix". During the time that the Phoenix Force had copied her mind and body, it had formed a connection with Jean and she began manifesting the power of the Phoenix herself, creating the fiery Phoenix raptor as a signature of her mutant abilities. Her evolution as the Phoenix was stunted by the disruptive effects of the Psi-War, and later she lost her telekinetic powers in a still-undetailed conflict against the Shadow King with Psylocke. Betsy gained Jean's telekinesis, while Phoenix absorbed Psylocke's telepathy into herself, greatly magnifying her own telepathic abilities. Her telekinesis eventually returned on its own, and the Phoenix Force began manifesting itself directly through her physical form. Jean's powers developed to cosmic proportions, allowing her to rearrange matter at a molecular level, create intense heat and thermal energy by stimulating molecular activity, manipulate the voluntary and involuntary responses in the human body, and manifesting a "telekinetic sensitivity" that let her feel the texture of objects she had a telekinetic hold on, feel when other objects came into contact with them, and probe them at a molecular level to identify alien materials or feel when two things she "held" were similarly composed.

Her telepathy eventually became categorized as omega-level, giving her unlimited capacity for performing all telepathic feats.

ICEMAN

Real Name: Robert Louis Drake
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #1, September 1963

Powers: Iceman is an omega-level mutant born with the ability to lower his internal and external body temperature to a minimum of -105.7° degrees Fahrenheit. In such a state of drastically lowered body temperature, he can project a form of energy that retards molecular activity, causing temperatures to decrease (the thermokinetic energy present in molecular activity is being efficiently displaced extra-dimensionally by his power, as it doesn't appear to travel to any other location). He can reduce temperatures to as low as absolute zero (-459.67° degrees Fahrenheit). Like any normal human being's, the nerve centers for regulating Iceman's body temperature are found in the part of the brain called the hypothalamus. However, he can mentally override his hypothalamus to allow his body temperature to be lowered by his power. A related mutation has rendered his body tissues unaffected by sub-zero temperatures. Iceman can consciously, immediately lower his body temperature from its normal 98.6° Fahrenheit to that of -105.7° F within the span of a few tenths of a second.

Applying his power to liquids causes them to freeze instantly, and freezing solids often causes them to become brittle and crack under the sudden temperature shift. Primarily, he uses his power to create ice by cooling and condensing water vapor and moisture in the atmosphere. When attacking solid objects, he tends to direct his freezing beams at the atmosphere around them instead of the object itself, covering it in layers of ice instead of disrupting its molecular integrity with a quick-freeze. By focusing, he can shape the ice he makes into various forms like a spray of ice daggers, walls or domes of ice for protection, ladders, columns, boomerangs, lassos, etc. Iceman's usual mode of transportation was his ice slides, ramps of ice supported by a series of columns which he could slide along.

Iceman can also affect his own body with his powers. Possessing a natural resistance to intense cold and its side effects, he originally produced a thin layer of snow over his body to disguise his features. Shortly after gaining more experience, he hardened this into a layer of ice, which constantly cracks and refreezes as he moves due to the sub-zero temperatures his body is radiating. This ice sheath mildly shielded him from physical impact and injury, and obscured his features during the period of time where he still maintained a secret identity.

Experiences with both Mikhail Rasputin and Emma Frost convinced Iceman to further experiment with his powers. First, he started with adding additional layers of ice onto his body, artificially bulking up his body with an exo-armor of ice that increased his strength and durability. Not that much longer after that, Iceman learned how to physically transform his carbon-based body into "organic ice", morphing himself into a sentient and animated ice statue. This granted him a number of new abilities. As organic ice, Iceman could now manipulate his icy body on a molecular level. He can suffer all kinds of physical damage without sustaining injury: He can lose an arm or have a hole the size of a soccer ball blown through his chest, and his powers can simply freeze new ice to replace the missing substance, leaving him no worse off providing he does this before attempting to transform back to his human form.

Iceman can also morph his organic ice body in different ways, adding additional amounts of ice to grow to giant size at will, extend his arms to different lengths, transform his hands into blades or hammers, etc. Iceman later learned he could mentally alter his body's state of matter, transforming from ice into water or water vapor. He can project his consciousness through a uniform, unbroken medium in these states, allowing him to relocate himself at the speed of thought. For example, if Iceman was in a lake and transformed into water, his consciousness could transfer itself instantly into any other water molecules around him, allowing him to immediately reform himself anywhere along the shore of the lake, since all the water there is connected. By becoming water vapor, he could move instantaneously around a moisture-rich atmosphere in the same manner.

Years later, a secondary mutation in him activated, forcing Iceman to remain in his ice form at all times and not allowing him to revert back to flesh and blood at all. Therefore, it seems likely that he no longer required sustenance such as food, drink, or oxygen in order to survive. When M-Day occurred, this secondary mutation vanished and he could once again revert back and form between human and ice forms. Iceman has demonstrated new applications of his abilities over time. He's experimented in creating animated ice sculptures, constructs he can move like stop-motion cinematography by cracking and refreezing them thousands of times a minute. Eventually, he learned how to split his consciousness between multiple ice bodies like this, creating a series of organic ice forms and animating all of them simultaneously. Although this allows him to be in many places at once, a side effect is that different aspects of his personality often assume control over the split forms, similar to the Multiple Man's duplicates.

Iceman is capable of controlled size-changing, growing to enormous proportions by accumulating moisture from the air, and then dispelling it to revert back to human size. His transmutation powers can protect him from injuries to his human form now as well. When his human was vaporized, his mind and powers remained active long enough to freeze his stray molecules back into ice, then revert to human. When Mystique poisoned him, Iceman changed to organic ice and then "filtered" his body by exchanging every molecule of his body with new moisture pulled from the atmosphere, cleansing his human state of the poisons.
