SHAM

SHAM

Real Name: Diamonda LaSalle
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #22, July 1995

Powers: Sham was born with the mutant power to manipulate ambient photons and sound particles. She is able to produce audio-visual simulations which fool the senses of other living beings. She can create the appearance of invisibility, or alter her appearance with an image-shape over her features. She can also generate monstrous looking creatures out of thin air to surprise and torment her opponents, or make tendrils appear to break out from the ground and assault people.

GHOST RIDER 2099

GHOST RIDER 2099

Real Name: Kenshiro "Zero" Cochrane
First Appearance: Ghost Rider 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, May 1994

Powers: A native of the year 2099 in the divergent reality of Earth-928, Kenshiro "Zero" Cochrane was a data pirate whose consciousness was saved at the moment of his physical death by a group of artificial intelligentsia known as the GhostWorks. As his body perished, the GhostWorks preserved his consciousness as digital code. They chose him for his rude attitude, arrogant behavior, and lack of respect for authority, which would make him their ideal agent in the physical world. Saving and encrypting his source material, they generated a copy, which they then activated within the GhostWorks, reprogramming it to make it a better agent. Zero 2.0 agreed to become their "anti-viral" agent against dysfunctional social and economic agencies. They then uploaded Zero into a robot form, becoming the Ghost Rider of 2099.

This wardroid body
is a Cybertek 101 chassis composed of silicon and carbon steel, fiber optics, and super-dense meta-tasking nanoprocessors with sufficient integrated hard ordinance to give him superhuman strength, endurance, computer-enhanced reflexes, and reinforced armor for considerable resistance to injury. For offensive purposes, his left hand is made of a polymimetic nanomer alloy that can reshape as desired, generally extending his fingers into foot-long metal spears tapering to sub-molecular thickness allowing them to slice through most materials, and his right hand can transform into an electrosaw, an energized chainsaw with composite ceramic/graphite blades.

His Central Processing Units (CPUs) house a meta-tasking neuro-mimetic network, with a variety of user help files installed in memory. His user-programmable hard light camouflage system allows him to appear as Zero, to scan other beings and replicate their appearance, to generate cosmic flames about his head, and to modify his costume. He can also generate a stealth field that renders him undetectable by both living beings and most computer systems, though this consumes much energy. He initially required daily battery recharges to maintain full capacity and had to resupply the sarrium krellide storage cells regularly or risk crashing the whole system, but he eliminated these limits after connecting to a "Mr. Fusion" heavy duty battery. Besides his existing resilience, Ghost Rider's body contains vast amounts of molecular nanotech, enabling him to rebuild himself automatically even after going offline and being reduced to so much scrap metal, by incorporating nearby chunks of mass.

He can project high-intensity laser beams from his optic sensors, and has a number of visual enhancements, such as telephoto or infrared lenses. He could also scan opponents for weak spots to target, and has advanced aiming software letting him slice through Spider-Man's webbing from 100 feet away. Zero had other ranged sensors, letting him detect electromagnetic transmission and reception in his immediate area, and his fingers could extend cyberjack filaments to link with computer systems, letting him peruse cyberspace and probe computer databanks mentally (since Ghost Rider 2099 and both Zeros could exist as a human personality analog in cyberspace). His motorcycle was a Ford Velociraptor 900XL, customized for wheeled or anti-gravity propulsion, pseudo-leathery upholstery, and street thrusters that pushed him to subsonic speeds. It could also be incorporated into his stealth field and solidified holographic projections.

In his final incarnation, Zero 2.0 encompassed the internet (or its counterpart in the year 3099 A.D.) from Earth to the farthest reaches of the frontier.

LA LUNATICA

LA LUNATICA

Real Name: Unknown
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #3, December 1993

Powers: La Lunatica's mutation gives her a multitude of superhuman attributes. Standing over 6 feet tall, with white skin and hair and blood red eyes, she possesses superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, and resistance to all forms of physical injury. Her senses are also highly developed, and her fingernails can be used as claws to cut into her victims. Lunatica is also a psychic vampire, able to feed off of the negative psychic energy inherent in the emotional turmoil of other people. Making physical contact with her victim causes a flashback, forcing her victim to summon up an intense and painful memory and relive the event psychically, releasing tremendously greater amounts of negative empathic energy that tortures her victim and stimulates Lunatica's system, temporarily augmenting her strength, durability, and other physical powers.

JUNKPILE

JUNKPILE

Real Name: Unknown
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) # 1, October 1993

Powers: Junkpile has the mutant power of self-induced bionic enhancement. Whenever injured to a certain degree, his body activated a metallic telekinesis effect which drew nearby mechanical parts to him and adjusted them to reinforce and replace damage he had suffered. Afterwards, his bionic form could be repaired even easier than before, as lost or damaged metal parts of his body would reattach themselves automatically if disrupted. He could have an arm blown off, and the limb and shoulder joint would simply extend wires to reconnect with one another, making him fully operational again within seconds. In his earliest appearances, Junkpile's entire physical frame was heavily outfitted with mechanical parts, giving him a massive body with superhuman strength and armor-reinforced durability. It's unclear whether Junkpile had to be injured to activate his power, or if he could replace and enhance his organic parts at any time.

BLOODHAWK

BLOODHAWK

Real Name: Lemuel Krug
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Bloodhawk is a transmorph whose latent mutant power was triggered by the Theatre of Pain. He shifts from his normal human state into an augmented winged predator. He gains superhuman strength, agility, endurance, reflexes, and vision in the transformation. His outer skin is reconfigured into a rough red hide with purple calluses, making him virtually immune to radiation and able to withstand increased levels of physical assault and injury. His fingernails now end in razor sharp talons which can be used offensively, and his feet are morphed to possess only two taloned toes.

Finally, he sprouts wings from his backside, allowing him to fly with great speed and maneuverability, and the wings can be used as striking weapons.

MEANSTREAK

MEANSTREAK

Real Name: Henri Huang
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Meanstreak possesses the mutant power to move, run, and otherwise react at superhuman speeds. A basic speedster, his power is created and maintained by several complimentary mutations: He has superhuman strength and durability across his entire frame, especially concentrated in his lower body. He has the ability to lift 1,000 lbs. with his upper body, and his legs possess Class 1 strength. Meanstreak's durability allows him to resist the adverse effects of air friction, of striking the ground with intense force while running, and he has a unique lubrication in his eyes that prevent them from drying out at high speed. His joints are also specially lubricated to make them move faster and with more fluidity than normal. His body does not produce fatigue poisons frequently, making his metabolism almost four times as efficient as a normal person's and giving him phenomenal endurance. Though his top speed was never gauged, it at least enters the high subsonic ranges. He can move his hands at top speeds with high dexterity to assemble or dissemble objects faster than the eye can follow, grab speeding objects out of the air, dodge bullets, create funnels of air by moving in tight circles, and so on.

KRYSTALIN

KRYSTALIN

Real Name: Ruth Kirsten Porter-Ogada
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Krystalin has the mutant ability to form crystal structures out of thin air. She draws upon atmospheric mineral content and forges those molecules into multi-colored forms of crystal. These crystal shapes come in various densities depending on how she forms them, but they are generally strong enough to withstand bullets or strike a target multiple times without breaking. She can form these crystals into any shape she can visualize. Krystalin has formed giant walls of crystal for protection or to block off a passageway, created a quarterstaff, arm-mounted shield, sai blades, etc. She has also produced a battering ram of solid crystal, or a spray of razor sharp crystal shards.

SERPENTINA

SERPENTINA

Real Name: Kimberly Potter
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Serpentina's mutant power was to generate a negation field which temporarily nullified the structural integrity of her molecular structure, including bones, muscle, and tissue.

This effect made her extraordinarily pliant and capable of stretching her form to a significant degree without tearing. Heavy physical trauma or pressure could still injure her, but most minor forms of injury will mold in her flesh without causing real harm. She frequently used her powers to extend the length of her arms, reaching for distant objects, wrapping them around an opponent to constrict tightly, etc.

METALHEAD

METALHEAD

Real Name: Edward Van Beethoven-Osako
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Metalhead is a ferromorph, his mutant ability is to absorb and mimic the properties of any metallic substance he makes physical contact with.

He gains varying levels of superhuman strength and invulnerability in the process. After his metallic state was infected with a bio-engineered virus from Contagion, Metalhead physically mutated into a state of pure metal alloy (a flowing mixture of gold, Adamantium, and steel) with sloping arms, a bald head directly atop his shoulders, three fingers on each hand and only two toes on each foot. He was permanently trapped in this state and could not use his mutant ability. His power later returned, and he absorbed the extraordinarily durable metallic hull of an intergalactic vessel and used it as his default state from then on.

DESERT GHOST

DESERT GHOST

Real Name: Xi'an Chi Xan
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Xi'an Chi Xan’s hands are his mutant power. His left hand mutated when his power first manifested itself during puberty, turning a sickly shade of green and sprouting boils and abrasions. This hand can break down the molecular structure of matter on contact, disintegrating whatever he comes into contact with. The effect can work purely through direct contact, or he can create a chain reaction in the molecules of a surface he touched, causing an entire wall to crumble instead of just the surface area he made contact with.

After suffering a near fatal injury, the Desert Ghost subconsciously produced a protective shell which grew over his body as a sort of cocoon, accelerating his own healing processes while keeping his body preserved in a form of suspended animation. When he had fully recovered and burst forth from the cocoon, his right hand underwent a mutation. Having a color and texture resembling gold, this hand could cure any number of bodily injuries, diseases, or pathogenic infections on contact. Overexerting this power could tax his own strength, rendering him physically ill and unable to use his power for a time without risking permanent health problems.

CEREBRA

CEREBRA

Real Name: Shakti Haddad
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Cerebra was a neuropath. Her mutant power enabled her to psionically detect the brain wave activity of other sentient beings, pinpointing nearby people and recognizing familiar mental signatures. Cerebra was not a telepath, she couldn't read minds, but she could detect if their cerebral activity is getting stronger or weaker, allowing her to monitor vital signs. She could also distinguish between humans or mutants with her neuro-sensory abilities, even detecting unborn mutants in the womb. By manipulating someone's nervous system, she could assume remote control over a person's movements, paralyzing them in place or moving their bodies under her command. She could manipulate neural receptors, triggering intense amounts of agonizing stimulus or negating a person's ability to feel pain and any other tactile sensation. She could also will people to fall unconscious, and stimulate other non-higher brain functions, like various reflex actions. Cerebra often required physical contact or extreme close quarters to activate her powers.

SKULLFIRE

SKULLFIRE

Real Name: Timothy Sean Michael Fitzgerald
First Appearance: X-Men 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, October 1993

Powers: Skullfire’s mutation grants him energy rechanneling powers which grew considerably over time. Skullfire can actively absorb energy out of his environment, such as draining nearby electrical systems dry of power. When fully charged with energy, he took on the appearance of a glowing green radiograph, x-raying his body to give a glimpse of his skeleton. Initially, his power acted as an instinctive response that triggered uncontrollably, often in response to stress and threatening situations. He would drain all available power from his surroundings, conduct the charge through his body, and release it from his hands or in any direction as raw explosive-concussive energy, capable of incinerating a human being or doing significant structural damage. With training, he learned to control the various aspects of his mutant power: Absorbing energy at will from chosen sources, storing energy instead of automatically releasing it, and modulating the intensity of his blasts.

Skullfire was apparently an energy based life-form who was simply clinging to his old flesh-and-blood body out of habit. After he was killed and subsequently reanimated, he managed to reassert his free will and return to a normal life, though he now constantly glowed with excess energy. He also demonstrated a sensitivity to energy sources, allowing him to mentally pinpoint hidden power sources and draw upon a wider range of different energy signatures. Ultimately, his body was destroyed, leaving him as a non-corporeal sphere of living energy. Eventually, he managed to reform himself into an indistinctive humanoid form, a rough silhouette made of pure green energy. He could now draw upon ambient energy in the atmosphere and direct it to his will, as well as being virtually intangible and capable of flight.

HULK 2099

HULK 2099

Real Name: John Eisenhart
First Appearance: 2099 Unlimited (Vol. 1) #1, July 1993

Powers: John Eisenhart became Hulk 2099 after exposure to a massive dose of gamma radiation that was unleashed on him by the experiments made by the Knights of the Banner, a male survivalist group who worshiped the natural freedom epitomized by the original Hulk. Eisenhart became a massive green behemoth, roughly resembling Banner's form but with enlarged spines on his backbone and an elongated tongue. He possessed in excess of Superhuman Class 100 strength, tremendous stamina, the ability to leap several miles in height or distance, and was nearly impervious to all manner of physical harm. Like the original Hulk, his strength level and recuperative powers also increased with his rage. John could originally transform back and forth at will, maintaining his regular personality in either form but showing a different perspective on the world as John or as the Hulk. This perspective eventually developed into an outright personality shift during his transformation: Although he still retained all of his memories whether active as John or the Hulk, each side of his personality began vying for greater control over the body.

John Eisenhart
holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and is a practicing entertainment lawyer. Possessing extensive knowledge of the American legal system, he is both admitted to and licensed to practice law by the California State Bar Association. He has encyclopedic knowledge of the legal aspects of the entertainment industry, including film, music, television, theater, publishing, visual arts, and multimedia.

SPIDER-MAN 2099

SPIDER-MAN 2099

Real Name: Miguel O'Hara
First Appearance: Spider-Man 2099 (Vol. 1) #1, November 1992

Powers: Miguel O'Hara was originally a baseline human native to the year 2099 of Earth-928. A genius engineer, he was transformed into Spider-Man 2099 while trying to repair his genetic imprint from a hyper-addictive drug called Rapture that had been bonded to him. Miguel's attempt to use the transformation chamber from his Corporate Raider project to overlap his original genetic code onto the Rapture-modified one, however, was interrupted by a jealous co-worker who replaced Miguel's own genetic file with one designed to emulate the original Spider-Man, and increased the power levels to the maximum. As a result, Miguel gained his own version of the proportionate strength of a spider. He developed Class 10 strength, heightened speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, leaping abilities, balance and coordination. He also gained accelerated vision which allowed him to see in near darkness (though he became permanently sensitive to light) and extend his sight to telescopic magnitudes by concentrating. For wall-crawling, the he developed molecular talons which extended from the tips of his fingers and toes. Able to cut through virtually anything, these talons made lethal weapons and were curved at such an angle that he could scale vertical surfaces, piercing walls and ceilings and then supporting his weight. The talons could fold flat against his skin when not in use to become unnoticeable, and did so automatically as a protective reflex whenever he touched himself. O'Hara also developed spinnerets within his forearms that could squeeze out pressurized streams of organic webbing from the back of his hands when he contracted his muscles. The webbing seemed to be a duplicate of Peter Parker's in terms of tensile strength, elasticity, adhesiveness, and eventual dissolution. Finally, Spider-Man 2099 had a rarely used set of fangs in place of his canine teeth, filled with an adaptive venom that paralyzed his victims after entering their bloodstream. His costume was made of UMF (unstable molecule fabric), and he wore a patch of lytebyte cloth resembling webbing on his back, which could catch air currents and enable him to glide short distances.

After operating in the present, Miguel modified his M.O. somewhat. His personal A.I., Lyla (LYrate Lifeform Approximation), is housed in a wrist-mounted projector he wears at all times. Lyla contains a database of information from Miguel's time, as well as the ability to wirelessly interface with local systems to accumulate new data. She is capable of manifesting herself in a holographic projection, and can also project holograms for strategic purposes. Miguel uses Lyla's holograms to distract or divert his opponents in combat. In addition, Miguel regularly wears his UMF costume while merely having Lyla project a solid holographic image of street clothes over his body. To become Spider-Man 2099, then, he simply pulls on his mask and has Lyla disable the holographic clothes. After Secret Wars, Miguel upgraded his costume with the assistance of Parker Industries technology. The suit now functions like battle armor, with a Kevlar equivalent worked into the UMF to make it incredibly durable. His mask has GPS, radar, and wireless data feeds to access, as well as infrared vision capabilities. He can launch delayed explosion "spider-saucers" from his wrist arrays. Boot jets now increase his gliding abilities for virtually unaided flight. The jets are not very maneuverable, and are mostly designed for shooting him straight up off the ground to make use of the lytebyte material.

Miguel O'Hara holds a master's degree in genetics and is a genius in the field of genetic engineering.
