FEEDBACK

FEEDBACK

Real Name: Albert Louis
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #118, March 1993

Powers: Feedback is a mutant capable of producing bio-electrical energy in various forms, and absorbing outside forms of electromagnetic force directed at him to increase his energy reserves.

He can radiate electrical surges from his skin, or direct the energy out in blasts from his fingertips. Albert can also produce tangible energy fields shaped from his electricity, which could be used for protection or made into animated shapes like a giant, solid fist or his "shocktroopers".

The "shocktroopers" are humanoid masses of electricity with the full range of movement that can physically interact with objects, yet produce high-voltage electricity enough to stun or kill a man on contact. These "shocktroopers" are an inherent aspect of Feedback's powers and not a skill he has cultivated: He subconsciously manifested them before his powers had even stabilized after their initial development, and demonstrated no difficulty or need for concentration to direct their actions. Though they don't speak or demonstrate individual traits or thought, it's possible the "shocktroopers" are actually created with a semi-autonomous portion of Feedback's mind directing them, allowing them to maintain and operate more or less independently of Albert's own active mind.

YUKON JACK

YUKON JACK

Real Name: Yukotujakzurjimazoata
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 3) #1, May 2004

Powers: Yukon Jack is the prince of an isolated society of people living in the wilds of Canada. These people (or at least the royalty) seem to possess mystical powers. Yukon Jack has enhanced strength, agility, endurance, reaction time, and resilience. He is able to generate a form of light from his palm, sufficient to illuminate a pitch black environment. His body is adorned with patterns of bone which can be animated for use offensively. The bone plates detach on their own accord, with the stylized "centerpieces" of the designs moving to his hands while trailing vertebrate-like shards of bone in an animated straight line out from these centers. Jack can then direct these lines of razor sharp bone to lash or slash at targets from a distance, mystically extending the lengths of these bone shard lines and undulating them like whips.

OMEGA

OMEGA

Real Name: Michael Pointer
First Appearance: New Avengers (Vol. 1) #16, April 2006

Powers: Michael Pointer is a mutant capable of harnessing the bio-energy signatures from the mutagenic auras of other mutants. This process can be carried out remotely, from a distance, and taps directly into the bio-genetic power produced by the x-gene, so even mutants with non-energy based mutations are potential sources of power for him. Michael typically utilizes these energies through bio-electric assimilation, rechanneling the power he absorbs as thrust for flight, a protective aura, and energy bolts fired from his hands. He does have the capacity to utilize the unique mutant energy signatures themselves, however, and can therefore manifest the specific powers of any mutant he is siphoning from.

Whatever his original capabilities would have been, Michael's powers have been dramatically and permanently augmented following his encounter with the Collective, the quasi-sentient energy mass formed from the energy signatures of every mutant who lost their powers on M-Day. Although the majority of the Collective has been cast into the sun, Michael still retains residual energy fields from his contact with the entity, giving him the potential to access all the powers of the decimated mutants. Among the powers Michael Pointer has manifested from the Collective and other sources are superhuman speed, telescopic vision, molecular transfiguration, size-changing, intense cold, force fields, magnetism, superhuman strength, the ability to survive in the vacuum of space, reanimating the dead, telepathy, technopathy, applied healing powers, and dinosaur-like strength, fangs and claws.

After joining Omega Flight, he adopted use of a modified Guardian micro-circuitry costume as a "power regulator", to control the amount of energy he absorbed or released at a given time. The Canadian Intelligence Services manipulated Pointer through the suit, however, using it to turn him into an addict, an "energy junkie" requiring the occasional "fix" of mutant energy to stabilize his powers and metabolic health. At this point, cutting Michael off completely from outside energy sources will apparently kill him in a matter of hours. It seems that the residual Collective energy needed to be "fed" energy like a living organism in order for Michael to maintain some level of constant super-powers.

The Canadian operatives made arrangements to remotely feed energy into the Guardian suit (and therefore Michael) from "donors" -- super-powered criminals receiving leniency for their crimes in exchange for serving on staff as a renewable power source for Omega. Although mostly non-mutant superhumans in origin, these "donors" were being fed a variant of Mutant Growth Hormone, which mixed with their non-mutant powers to create a palatable bio-energy signature similar enough to a mutant's so that Michael could feed off of it. The siphoning process seriously weakens the donors, and more than one has died from having too much of their energies fed into Omega at once.

PUCK II

PUCK II

Real Name: Zuzha Yu
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 3) #1, May 2004

Powers: Puck II's mutation consisted of an enhanced physique, with near superhuman levels of strength (up to 2 tons), speed, agility, endurance, and reflexes. She reportedly had super-intelligence and rapid cognitive development as an infant. She also seemed to have the ability to harness active motion and kinetic energy, redistributing it to change the direction she's moving in or accelerating her given momentum. Reversing it on impact caused her to bounce in a manner similar to Speedball. This allowed her to strike walls or objects and rebound off of them with even greater force.

CENTENNIAL

CENTENNIAL

Real Name: Rutherford B. Princeton, III
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 3) #1, May 2004

Powers: Rutherford “Rudy” Princeton was a retired Canadian military soldier and police officer whose mutant abilities did not manifest themselves until he was 96 years old.

As Centennial, he gained overall increased vitality. Additionally, he gained superhuman strength, endurance, reaction time, near-invulnerability, flight, and the ability to project highly concentrated thermal energy beams from his eyes.

Rudy Princeton was trained in both the Canadian military and police academy, he was well-versed in both armed and unarmed combat.

MURMUR

MURMUR III

Real Name: Arlette Truffaut
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 2) #1, August 1997

Powers: Murmur III was born with the mutant power to forge a psychic link with another person through physical contact, allowing her to subtly influence their thought processes or use spoken commands to take direct control over their actions and behavior.

Generally speaking, Murmur III relied on single word commands such as "sit", "sleep", or "attack" to direct people. In other examples, she has removed Flex's fear and hesitancy by saying "courage", or triggered Virgo's teleportation equipment by saying "Paris". Besides these short and forceful commands, Murmur III could also employ a more subtle hyper-persuasive ability, making people considerably more willing to believe what she says or agree with her suggestions so long as she maintains physical contact with them.

Murmur III could also use her powers on herself occasionally. For example, making herself feel brave when she was afraid. Also, her powers proved to be ineffective on fellow mental manipulators with stronger willpower, such as Mesmero.

FLEX & RADIUS

FLEX & RADIUS

Real Names: Adrian Corbo (Flex); Jared Corbo (Radius)
First Appearance: Alpha Flight: In The Beginning (Vol. 1) #1, July 1997

Powers: Flex has the mutant power to morph portions of his body into organic metal. He demonstrated two different forms of this transformation, by either flattening out his body or actually altering the shape of his body. Initially, Flex performed the latter: Morphing his hands from about just above the wrist into paper-thin and razor sharp blades resembling cleavers. More than likely, he was compressing his mass in this process to make the blades incredibly durable. Similarly, Flex would also morph his shins, compressing the area between his knees and his ankles into a thin sheet of metal as well. Eventually, Flex's powers changed significantly He can flatten his body into the sheet metal state, but not compress his mass at the same time. Instead, his body expands into a larger length and width while loosing its depth. When morphed like this, Flex has large hands that could be swatted at an opponent, and could use his floppy metal body to cover and protect people and objects.

Radius’ mutant power is that his body constantly projects a thin but impenetrable layer of force around it. This field makes him virtually invulnerable, and allows air to pass through so that he can breathe, but prevents him from eating directly. Radius must strap a device resembling a surgical mask over his face in order to get food through his field and eat. He can mentally expand and alter the shape of his field to some degree. Radius can thus repel people and objects close to him, reshape his field into an incline so it acts as a solid ramp, and form a giant set of "clappers" around his hands and swing them together to hit an enemy in front of him.

WYRE

WYRE

Real Name: Unknown
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #114, November 1992

Powers: Wyre was the genesis for a Weapon X style program known as The Breed. He was apparently a mutant possessing naturally superhuman levels of strength, speed, agility, endurance, and reflexes. He also had enhanced senses, especially hearing, night vision, and the ability to track by his sense of smell, as well as regenerative powers.

In addition, he was implanted with a series of inorganic spikes which he could mentally extend and manipulate. At their smallest, these spikes resemble nothing more than tiny, razor sharp hairs poking out from his skin. They can extend out to at least 10 feet in length, either as straight and stiff spear points, or as prehensile wires which he can use to wrap around and restrain opponents or lift and carry objects through the air.

STITCH

STITCH

Real Name: Jodi Furman
First Appearance: Alpha Flight Special (Vol. 2) #1, June 1992

Powers: Stitch’s mutant power is mild ferrokinesis. She is only able to psionically manipulate small pieces of metal with precision.

It is unknown if the limits of her power are genetically-based or purely psychological.

AURIC & SILVER

AURIC & SILVER

Real Name: Zhao Tang (Auric) & Jhimon Tang (Silver)
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #76, November 1989 (both)

Powers: Auric and Silver are fraternal twin siblings with the mutant powers of self-propelled flight and projecting energy discharges from their eyes.

Auric’s mutant ability is to bodily generate thermal energy and discharge it through his eyes. The released energy acted as a molecular agitator beam, inducing intense heat in his targets to cause various effects including combustion, melting, or even sublimation at high levels. He was also capable of self-propelled flight, presumably by riding the thermal updrafts generated by his power.

Silver’s mutant ability is to bodily generate sub-zero energy and discharge it through her eyes. The released energy reduced molecular motion, draining thermal energy to create intense cold. Her eye beams frequently froze the water vapor in the atmosphere, creating thick layers of ice around her targets. She was also capable of self-propelled flight.

MANIKIN

MANIKIN

Real Name: Whitman Knapp
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #43, February 1987

Powers: Manikin is a mutant able to access the Mindwell, an extra-dimensional pocket realm that represents the evolutionary development of the human species. By connecting with the Mindwell, Manikin could summon “evo-matter” into our dimension, manifesting living beings that represented humanity at different points in its evolution from the primordial state. These others were not actual people or beings plucked from the past or future, but avatars representing the development of humanity in general. They also had only very limited self-direction abilities, requiring Manikin (aka the “Prime Unit”) to command them in battle. Manikin would typically manifest three evolutionary counterparts of himself known as Proto, Apeman, and Highbrow, although he may have had the potential to create more.

Proto was a small blob of proemial organic matter, constantly shifting in shape and dimensions. “He” could extend pseudopods and prehensile tentacles to grab and manipulate matter from a distance, and produced a molecular acid that would break down matter and dissolve it on contact.

Apeman represented Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis, a caveman with naturally greater than human strength and agility.

Highbrow represented the future of humanity, with hyper-developed psionic potential. He was able to probe the surrounding area for thought patterns, levitate himself and others, generate psionic force as energy blasts or protective shields, and teleport himself and others over several miles. He wears specialized eyeglasses that extend his vision beyond the range of the spectrum perceptible by normal humans. He also wears computer circuits on his limbs and clothing.

After Manikin was seriously injured fighting the Jackal, the others appeared to him in the Mindwell and sacrificed their existence to accelerate his recuperation. Manikin was apparently left powerless for a few months afterwards, but soon learned his ability had merely mutated. Instead of manifesting his counterparts externally, Manikin can now physically transform himself into one of his others at a time.

Dr. Whitman Knapp holds an M.D. with a concentration in surgery.

SCRAMBLE THE MIXED UP MAN

SCRAMBLE THE MIXED UP MAN

Real Name: Lionel Jeffries
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #30, January 1986

Powers: Dr. Lionel Jeffries (aka Scramble the Mixed Up Man) is the older brother of Madison Jeffries. Like his brother, he is a mutant with transmutative powers.

His mutant power is the ability to morph and restructure all manner organic substances on a molecular level upon physical contact. By focusing on the person he's touching, Scramble could rebuild damaged tissue and heal various forms of physical injuries, from minor to near-fatal. His power could not restore the dead, a fact that caused him to suffer a psychological breakdown for at least a decade. Originally, he could not affect himself with his own powers, however an encounter with his brother and the interaction of their powers allowed Scramble to repair his disordered brain. He could now use his powers on himself as well as heal mental damage in others and himself.

He can restrain someone by fusing their limbs together into a single mass, or he can transform people into horribly disfigured monsters. When Scramble conceived of the idea of fusing himself with Roger Bochs, the two of them became Omega. Morphed into a solid mass of flesh, Omega combined Scramble's transmutative abilities with Bochs' imagination and creativity, but Jeffries was the dominant mind and soon "killed" Roger's consciousness while retaining his skills. Omega was a massive creature that had absorbed corpses and random pieces of dead flesh to become an enormous and ever-shifting blob. Manipulating his mass allowed Omega to extend tentacles or spikes of various shapes and lengths. He could identify dormant superhuman potential in others and approximately sense his brother's location if he was nearby.

Dr. Lionel Jeffries was a genius-level intellect who held an M.D. with a specialty in surgery. He was a combat medic specialist with the United States Army where he underwent armed/unarmed combat training and patient care, and later joined the United States Army Medical Corps. He was an expert surgeon, a skill which was greatly enhanced by his mutant power. He was also an FRCSC (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada).

BERZERKERS

BERZERKERS*

Roster (from left to right): Anodyne (Madelyne Pryor-Summers); Master Builder (Paul Domenic); Earthshaker (Jeanne Chretien); Lore Lord (Samuel Ross); Cornucopia (Carla Ballenger); Brawler (Jacques Moreau); Beastmaster (Boyd Wilson); Pathfinder (Nick Rodriguez); and Lord of the Plants (Philip Descard).

First Appearance: X-Men & Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #1, December 1985

Powers: The "Berzerkers" received magically-inclined superhuman abilities after exposure to Loki's Fire Fountain. The Fire Fountain transformed the internal magic of a human being into an external expression, often causing personal aspects of someone's character to manifest as magical powers. The Berzerkers generally became larger and stronger than they were as normal humans as well, even if their gift did not relate to physical power. The side effect of the Fire Fountain was that it consumed the internal magic of people in order to create its effects, leaving those it transformed unable to imagine, dream, or create. The effects of the Fire Fountain were eventually reversed, turning those affected back into normal people.

As Anodyne, Madelyne Pryor became a healer. She generated a healing flame that, through contact, could repair any form of injury or illness in others (and likely herself). She could undo physical injuries, wipe away fever or disease, even eliminate fatigue to restore someone's stamina. In addition, Anodyne's power could erase mental or psychological problems, such as Aurora's personality disorder and Wolverine's berserker rage, leaving the latter unrestricted by his animal instincts. She could alter superhuman abilities from uncontrollable to controllable, as she did with Rogue's touch or Cyclops's optic blasts. She could even undo curses or purely mystical inflictions, such as Puck's "dwarfism" or the corrupting influence of Tanaraq on Sasquatch's psyche.

The Master Builder was an architect able to animate and reshape unliving materials. Prior to exposure to the Fire Fountain, he had a notebook filled with elaborately designed buildings and structures, and his power enabled him to form these structures seemingly out of nothing. The magical nature of his power means he may have literally conjured his structures from nothing, or perhaps he merely made use of nearby raw materials. Once created, he could also manipulate his structures in simple ways, such as barring a door or causing a walkway to move on its own. His lost internal magic meant that the Builder could only create things he had seen or remembered, though -- actual creation of new designs was beyond his abilities once he received his powers.

Earthmover was a geologist who developed power over rock and earth. She could animate large or small masses of geological material, forcibly pushing them in a given direction to create mudslides or speeding rocks. She could also manipulate tectonic activity to create earthquakes, cause cave-ins, and so on.

Lore Lord was a living library, able to access knowledge simply by focusing his mind on a given topic or chronicle. It was said that the "knowledge of the ages" flowed through him, meaning he could mentally recall "every book ever written, every story ever told". It was unconfirmed whether he merely meant every human book or story, but he could recollect vast amounts of information on any topic, translate languages, etc.

Cornucopia could conjure food and clothing at will. She could mend existing sets of clothes, or alter them in considerable detail to produce new garments. The mechanism by which she created food was never shown, but she could apparently summon an endless supply and variety of food out of thin air. Like Master Builder, though, Cornucopia could not create new recipes or clothing styles. She could only replicate what she saw or could otherwise remember.

Brawler demonstrated tremendous strength, endurance, and resistance to physical injury, even for the naturally powerful Berzerkers.

Beastmaster had a natural affinity for the animal kingdom. He could communicate with animal life and direct animals to carry out actions on his command. His abilities extended to Wolverine's animal side, allowing him to temporarily manipulate Logan's actions and blank out portions of his memory.

Pathfinder was noted to be a tracker, but his abilities were never fully shown. It's likely he had highly acute senses, the ability to detect spore and other traces of an animal or objects passing, and even a supernatural sense of direction or homing ability.

The Lord of the Plants was botanist by trade who gained the ability to manipulate plant life, causing it to grow at an accelerated rate and respond to his mental commands.

*The group was only referred to as "Berzerkers" in solicitation and promotional material, and never in the story itself.

DIAMOND LIL

DIAMOND LIL

Real Name: Lillian Crawley
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #11, June 1984

Powers: Diamond Lil’s mutant power constantly saturated her body’s molecular structure with an invisible bio-aura of reinforcing energy, rendering her virtually invulnerable to all forms of physical impact or assault, temperature extremes, or energy based attacks. However, her physical invulnerability deadens her ability to derive tactile sensations. Her hands and nails are similarly durable, even after being removed from her body, such as when she plucks a strand of her hair to use as a garrote. She couldn’t lift superhuman levels of weight, but she could smash objects a normal person can't, and support weights without her body buckling underneath.

Lillian Crawley is skilled in numerous street-fighting techniques.

FLASHBACK

FLASHBACK

Real Name: Gardner Monroe
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #11, June 1984

Powers: Flashback’s mutant power is the ability to psionically summon what he calls "future-selves", versions of himself from various random instances in the future (ranging anywhere from seconds to years from now). His power reaches into the future to pull his body into the present. He cannot converse with his future-selves or learn anything about the future from them. They are mindless automatons with the present-day Flashback's consciousness imprinted over theirs, essentially acting as extensions of his will. He can manifest his future selves anywhere within his line-of-sight, even in mid-air.

While in costume, Flashback tends to materialize future-selves wearing a version of his own costume with a negative polarity on the color scheme, however the reason for this remains unexplained. When the future-selves are no longer needed, Flashback causes them to de-materialize on the spot, and they apparently return to the future at the exact moment when he summoned them.

BOX I

BOX I

Real Name: Roger Bochs
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #11, June 1984

Powers: Roger Bochs was an engineer and mechanic who was missing both of his legs from the lower-thigh down, whether by illness or accident is unknown. Though physically impaired, he possessed a brilliant intelligence and started up his own company, Bochs Enterprises, which dealt in engineering and robotics. This helped him to make a small fortune. It was during this time that the wheelchair-bound Roger created what is known as the Box robot and, later with the help of James MacDonald Hudson, the cybernetic remote that controlled it.

The original Box robot was made primarily of steel, had vast strength (it could press up to 40 tons) and was highly resistant to damage. It was mentally controlled from outside by a person wearing a psycho-cybernetic helmet. The helmet transformed psions from the wearer's mind into electrical impulses which it then broadcast to Box. The wearer needed only to will Box to perform an action in order to cause Box to do it. Moreover, the helmet allowed its wearer to perceive mentally the sensory data registered by Box: The wearer "saw" and "heard" what Box perceived.

His helmet was later stolen by James Hudson's enemy Jerome Jaxon, who used the Box Mark I to become Box II. The Mark I was destroyed in combat with Guardian, and the feedback in turn destroyed Jaxon's brain. Bochs went to work redesigning his technology to create a new Box, with the help of Madison Jeffries. The Box Mark II had few combat-based differences from the Mark I: It was slightly stronger (up to Class 85), it had powerful jets in the soles of its feet enable the robot to fly. Box also contained many different devices, among which were ones enabling it to tap into computers and receive or jam radio signals. Box contained special tracking equipment, and it could see in all areas of the electromagnetic spectrum. Other devices could also be installed within Box if the need arose.

The primary difference was that the Mark II was forged out of "living metal", a uniquely constructed alloy somehow capable of physically interfacing with organic beings. By touching the suit, Bochs could "phase in" with the metal, mingling his molecules with the structure of the suit itself and placing his mind directly inside the suit's control circuitry, literally becoming the robot. The living metal could also be programmed to recognize individual genetic codes, allowing Bochs to ensure that only he could "phase in" or "phase out" in order to control the suit. Walter Langkowski's spirit briefly inhabited the Box Mark II, making him Box III, but it soon departed the robot and allowed Box I and his partner Mr. Jeffries to operate in the field with Alpha Flight.

At one point, Bochs combined with Lionel Jeffries and the two of them became Omega. Morphed into a solid mass of flesh, Omega combined Scramble's organic-transmutation abilities with Bochs' imagination and creativity, but Jeffries was the dominant mind and soon "killed" Roger's consciousness while retaining his skills.

MARRINA

MARRINA

Real Name: Marrina Smallwood McKenzie
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #1, August 1983

Powers: Marrina is a Plodex, an extraterrestrial race whose hatchlings are genetically programmed to conquer. When the Plodex attempted to conquer Earth, their hatchlings were launched before they had received their genetic programming to enable them to survive on this planet. One of the eggs landed in the ocean and drifted across its floor for 40,000 years. In order to survive, the egg became water permeable, and the adaptable creature within the egg became amphibious. The egg was finally discovered more than 20 years ago by fisherman Thomas Smallwood. His wife Gladys forced the egg open. The creature within the egg, still primed for genetic conditioning, instantly took on humanoid form as soon as it made contact with the cells of Gladys Smallwood's body. Thus, Gladys Smallwood saw a humanoid infant hatch from the egg. Thomas and Gladys Smallwood adopted the infant, whom they named Marrina since Thomas found her egg at sea, and raised her as their daughter. Neither the Smallwoods nor anyone else in their community suspected Marrina's alien origin, and instead believed that genetic defects were responsible for her unusual appearance. Marrina had been "damaged" in her hatching, and therefore had no conscious drive to conquer, nor was she dominated by savage instincts. Instead, she had a normal Earth girl's personality.

She has yellow skin, green hair, webbed fingers and toes, and bulbous round eyes. She can breathe underwater indefinitely and see for great distances through murky waters. Her strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, and durability are all greater than a normal human's, allowing her to survive deep ocean pressures or freezing temperatures and move more freely through aquatic mediums than a normal person. She has innate sonar senses that probe her underwater environment, giving her a 360 degree awareness of her surroundings. She can swim at speeds exceeding 900 knots by dissolving the outermost layer of her flesh, revealing a frictionless second layer underneath. Either through some hydrokinetic ability or sheer velocity, Marrina was able to shoot out from the surface of the water and create a waterspout, with water streaming behind her in one long line as she traveled inside the waterspout through the air over land, reaching distances of at least one mile away from the edge of the water before the spout began to disperse. Marrina's Plodex heritage renders her highly adaptable to certain stimuli, and if her savage nature is somehow triggered she will mutate physically. Normally these changes are minor, including distortion of her facial features, claws, fangs, and the newfound ability to blind other people on contact thanks to a chemical oil released from her pores that constricts the pupils temporarily. On one occasion, her Plodex genes transformed her into the Leviathan, a sea creature of enormous size and strength, a serpent over a mile in length.

WILD CHILD

WILD CHILD

Real Name: Kyle Gibney
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #1, August 1983

Powers: Wild Child was a latent mutant whose feral attributes were triggered by the Secret Empire, and he was later indoctrinated with cell samples taken from Wyre, a mercenary selling his body to "The Breed" in order to produce living weapons.

As Wild Child, Kyle Gibney possesses heightened speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes, enhanced senses that give him acute night vision, increased hearing, and the ability to detect and track scents, pronounced sharpened tips to his finger and toenails, and a hyper-regenerative power enabling him to quickly recover from all forms of physical injury. However he was also borderline feral, a savage whose bloodlust was difficult to manage.

After the government sponsored Gamma Flight team disbanded, Nemesis apparently took Kyle to Department K for chemical therapy and engineering. He was physically altered so that he no longer resembled a mad dog in human skin, but became handsome and muscular. His healing powers were enhanced, but on the other hand his senses and claws were suppressed through psychotherapy and regular medication that dampened his animal instincts and inclinations. Kyle operated like this for a time as Weapon Omega, having now been classically trained in various fighting disciplines, but began having difficulty repressing his true nature. Ultimately, he adopted the identity of Wildheart, as a balance between his Wild Child and Weapon Omega sides. In a still-unrevealed occurrence, though, Kyle reverted back to his canine appearance, losing his handsome looks and becoming Wild Child once more.

SMART ALEC

SMART ALEC

Real Name: Alexander Thorne
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #1, August 1983

Powers: Alexander "Alec" Thorne was a mutant whose power granted him superhuman genius-level intelligence. A genius polymath, Alec Thorne was one of the Earth's most intelligent individuals. His brain processed information with almost computer-like precision and speed, giving him superhuman levels of data recall, innovation, pattern recognition, cognitive multi-tasking, and mathematical processing.

He wore an encephalo-helmet in his criminal guise as Smart Alec. The helmet further augmented his IQ and was equipped with scanners that expanded the range of his auditory and visual senses beyond human detection, allowing him to hear on every frequency and see on every wavelength, thus providing additional datum for analysis and consideration.

His numerous Ph.D.'s included astrophysics, mechanics, and ancient history.

PUCK

PUCK

Real Name: Eugene Milton Judd
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (Vol. 1) #1, August 1983

Powers: Puck was originally a baseline human who possessed no superhuman powers. He was a soldier of fortune in 1914 who stood over 6' tall when he attempted to steal the Black Blade of Baghdad. The sorcerer known as Black Razer, whose spirit was imprisoned inside the blade, was set accidentally set free by Judd. Razer used his magicks to drain the lifeforce of his victims, with the unique effect of reducing his victims in stature each time he drained them of some living energy. Judd managed to contain Razer's spirit inside himself, but was greatly diminished in size to roughly 3'6" in the process.

As compensation, he also became virtually immortal with Razer's magicks sustaining his lifespan indefinitely. Wracked by pain because of Razer's atttempts to break free, Puck had to relearn physcial skills and augment his mental ones, developing a unique fighting style to complement his size. However, after Raazer broke free, Judd was returned to his true height and age, making him a physically fit, but quite elderly man. Eventually being captured by the Master of the World, Judd was transformed into one of the horribly grotesque Remnant Men. Alpha Flight was able to restore him to a normal appearance using the Master's machines, but the only profile on file for Puck was his 3'6" stature. As a result, Judd's mass was compressed at a molecular level, reducing his size again but making him virtually indestructible.

A skilled acrobat, Puck often combined gymnastic moves such as cartwheels with his extensive martial arts knowledge to devastating effect. Immediately after the Master re-shrank him did Puck's compressed tissues give his body the consistency of condensed rubber, though the effect lessened over time. He possessed superhuman strength (initially up to 10 tons, now 1), speed (initially at 80 miles per hour, later at 40), durability (initially fireproof, resistant to falls and virtually invulnerable, later only slightly higher than normal human maximums), and stamina (initially eliminating fatigue poisons almost instantaneously). He was also a world-class climber, skilled picklock, expert bullfighter, and stealthy enough to sneak up on Wolverine's enhanced senses. His dense form and shortened limbs made swimming difficult.

He spoke 17 languages fluently, including English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and Tibetan. Trained in meditation and yoga, he used these to control pain and his body's autonomic functions, including breathing and temperature, enabling him to survive briefly in freezing Arctic waters on feign death, and he has limited knowledge of magic. A small implant in his mastoid sinus behind one ear allowed Alpha Flight to signal him when necessary. An old boxing injury left him with a misshapen right ear, a contracted hematoma ("cauliflower ear").
