3-D MAN

Real Name: Charles Chandler and Harold Chandler

First Appearance: Marvel Premiere (Vol. 1) #35, April 1977

Powers: The 3-D Man is a combination of two originally baseline human brothers, Charles “Chuck” and Harold “Hal” Chandler. While testing an experimental rocket in 1958, Chuck was kidnapped by a passing Skrull stealth ship. He fought his way out and ultimately crashed the ship in a field near where his brother Hal was. The ship's crash caused an explosion, causing energies from the Skrull's experimental power source (a Trion shard of extra-dimensional energy) to burst outwards and irradiate Chuck, splitting him into two identical beings: One completely green, one completely red. He crashed in a field in the Mojave Desert where Hal was, and as the two Chucks ran towards Hal, they converted into energy and ended up super-imposed on Hal's glasses, creating a very special set of red and green 3-D glasses with Chuck's twin images imprinted on them. Hal came to discover that by focusing on the images of his brother in the glasses into merging on a flat surface, he would slip into a trance-like state as he initiated a dimensional transfer, so that Chuck's energy body would be reconstructed into material form in three-dimensional reality, a blending of his red and green halves.

Calling himself the 3-D Man, he possessed three times his previous athlete levels of strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, vision, hearing, durability, recuperative powers, etc. His strength and speed were around lifting 600 lbs and running 60 mph, respectively. The glasses upon which his images were imprinted were an artificial portal to a two-dimensional reality where Chuck Chandler resided when not manifested in the three-dimensional plane. The 3-D Man’s form could only exist in the material world for three hours before he would disintegrate into his two-dimensional component images and return through the portal. By concentrating on the images on his glasses, Hal Chandler mentally initiated the dimensional transfer that brought the 3-D Man into reality, Chuck Chandler himself couldn’t initiate the process. It’s also unknown what Chuck’s subjective experience was of the two-dimensional reality where spent most of his time.

Originally, the 3-D Man was animated by Chuck Chandler's mind, but later on Hal would also operate in control of the 3-D Man as well. Whenever Chuck was active, he was fully aware of what Hal had been experiencing while Chuck was "dormant", and likewise Hal remembered whatever Chuck did as the 3-D Man. As the years passed, Hal became an old man, even though he and his wife aged more slowly thanks to long-term exposure to Trion shard’s energies. The 3-D Man was still young and vital when called upon, but the effort was more and more draining on Hal's elderly body, and so he did so quite rarely. An encounter with the Trion shard's power-source and merging with the similarly-powered Triathlon led to a significant power increase. They eventually split, with Triathlon retaining his regular power levels, Hal Chandler returning to normal, and Chuck Chandler becoming human again for the first time in over 50 years, not having aged a day.

Chuck Chandler was a talented football player and an expert pilot; Hal Chandler was an experienced scientific researcher who requires eyeglasses and crutches to walk due to being astigmatic and suffering from poliomyelitis during his childhood.

As the 3-D Man, Chuck wore a specially-designed temperature-regulating NASA flight suit that took on a red/green color scheme and bonded to his skin when he was exposed to the Trion shard’s energies. Being transformed back into human form by Triathlon also transformed the suit to its original state and allowed him to remove it.

History & Powers: The Celestials are a race of extraterrestrial beings of humanoid form who possess untold cosmic power. Standing two thousand feet tall in full body armor, no being knows their planet of origin or what they look like without the armor. It has been theorized that the Celestials actually exist in hyperspace and that their armor is actually a channel which allows them to interact on various planes of existence. What is known about the Celestials is that they travel through space and manipulate the genetics of species on various worlds. They came to Earth over 1,000,000 years ago and performed genetic experiments on Earth’s highest lifeform: The nascent human beings. In order to test the adaptability of the human gene, the Celestials created two subspecies of the human race: The Eternals, who possess long lifespans and vast physical and cosmic energy-manipulation powers; and the Deviants, who possess an instability in their genetic code. The Celestials’ sole legacy to the mainstream human race was the implantation of a dormant DNA complex that would one day permit the emergence of superhuman abilities (mutants and altered human mutates). After performing their experiments, they left Earth. 

 

The Second Host of the Celestials arrived on Earth over 25,000 years ago to inspect the results of their first visit. They were sighted over the continent of Lemuria, the center of activity for the Deviants who had made human beings their slaves. The Deviants attacked the Celestials, who retaliated by unleashing a vastly powerful nuclear weapon that affected the earth’s plate tectonics. Repercussions of the explosion resulted in the continents of Lemuria and Atlantis sinking below the ocean and the division of Pangea. This event was referred to as the Great Cataclysm.
 
The Third Celestial Host arrived on Earth over 1,000 years ago. Their landing sight was arranged by the Eternals working in conjunction with the Incas of Peru. Upon their arrival, they were confronted by a contingency of Earth’s mythological gods from extra-dimensional realms. The gods were afraid that the Celestials had returned to judge humanity’s worthiness to survive. If the Celestials ruled against humanity, Earth would be destroyed. Among the gods were Odin of the Asgardian gods, Zeus of the Olympian gods, and Vishnu of the Hindu gods. The gods challenged the Celestials’ right to interfere in human affairs. The Celestials had threatened to permanently seal the gods’ dimensional portals to Earth if they interfered in Celestial matters again. Though the gods were forced to forego their involvement in the destiny of humanity, Odin planned an assault on the Celestials on their next visit.  

 

The Fourth Celestial Host came to Earth over 50 years ago to finally judge humanity now that the dormant DNA complex had finally emerged in humanity. Odin had created an invincible suit of armor called the Destroyer to battle the Celestials if humanity was judged against. The suit was operable so long as another being’s life force animated it. Odin joined forces with the Eternals, who joined together to create the Uni-Mind. Odin gathered all Asgardians, including himself, to animate the Destroyer. The Destroyer grew to the size of a Celestial and did battle with them. The Celestials obliterated the Destroyer with a single energy blast, dispersing the life forces that animated it. The Uni-Mind tried in vain as Arishem the Judge broke it apart with a wave of his hand, injuring all Eternals but killing only one. Earth’s mythological goddesses had found 12 human beings who represented the pinnacle of human genetic perfection. They showed them to the Elder Earth goddess Gaea, who presented these 12 humans to the Celestials as proof of humanity’s evolution. The Celestials ruled in favor of Earth and departed with the 12 humans who were called the “Young Gods”. The Asgardians were resurrected thanks to the Olympian god Zeus. 

 

20 years ago, the Celestials came to Earth to study the young mutant named Franklin Richards, the son of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four. Franklin possesses the mutant ability to manipulate and alter reality with his mind and created an entire pocket universe to save his family and the Avengers during a battle with the villain Onslaught. This feat placed him above the Celestials in power levels. The Celestials sent Ashema the Listener to Earth to show Franklin what he had created and force him to destroy either Earth or the universe he created. Franklin destroyed neither and returned the Fantastic Four and the Avengers to Earth. Ashema sacrificed her mind for the preservation of Franklin’s universe, which will exist within her mind forever. This allows the Celestials to get a first hand look into the structure and workings of humanity. Ashema remained in a catatonic state until revived.

No one knows the full extent of the Celestials’ power. They once withstood a full frontal attack from the collective might of the Asgardians and the Eternals. They are not indestructible, however. They once killed one of their brethren for breach of conduct. They have also been shown to resurrect the dead. The Celestials have erased themselves from the memories of most human beings in each of their visits. Only the Eternals, Deviants, the extra-dimensional gods, and a handful of humans remember the Celestials and the nature of each Celestial visitation.

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE

 

SUPREME INTELLIGENCE

Real Name: Inapplicable

First Appearance: Fantastic Four (Vol. 1) #65, August 1967

Powers: The Supreme Intelligence is the permanent ruler of the alien Kree and their empire. It is a massive cybernetic/organic computer network system comprised of 5,000 cubic meters of computer circuitry incorporating all of the Kree Empire's greatest minds in the areas of science, philosophy, politics, and military action. Their brains were preserved cryogenically and the aggregation of those brains created a single composite collective intelligence with a near-immeasurable data processing capacity, feeding knowledge and understanding from the cryogenically preserved brains. When wishing to interact with it, the Kree address it within its terminal chamber, where a holographic image is projected onto a gigantic monitor screen.

Supremor (the Supreme Organism) has existed for nearly a million years, and so its collection of knowledge and experience is virtually immeasurable. That combined mental energy can also be harnessed for psionic means, giving the Intelligence certain telepathic powers. It is capable of probing the thoughts and memories of sentient beings, communicating with them telepathically, and projecting subliminal thoughts into their minds in order to subtly guide their actions. This power is unhindered by distance, letting Supremor interact with minds in another galaxy entirely, yet its ability to interface with alien minds such as humans or Shi'ar is somewhat limited, prompting it to transmit its communications and influence primarily through their dreams. It can tap into the subconscious minds of sentient beings even when awake, though, and summon forth animated constructs from their memories. The Intelligence once forced Captain America into battle with six of his greatest foes, tangible phantoms pulled from his own mind to do battle with him, and later pulled a similar trick individually with each of a squadron of Avengers. The Supreme Intelligence can also teleport people across intergalactic distances, summoning them into its presence and later sending them back home. Whether this is an expression of its psionic powers or a mechanical system triggered cybernetically by the entity is uncertain.

"Supremor" is also the name of the physical manifestation, or avatar, of the Supreme Intelligence. The Supremor androids are largely based on the design of the Kree Sentry servitors, only aesthetically modeled to resemble a humanoid version of the Supreme Intelligence. Supremor is animated by a small portion of the Intelligence's life-force, acting as a quasi-independent extension of its creator's will, capable of individual thought and action in situations yet always bound by the Supreme Intelligence's guidance. The Supreme Intelligence is capable of animating at least three Supremor androids simultaneously. Supremor possesses Class 100 strength, superhuman endurance, lightning-fast reflexes, and considerable resistance to all manner of physical injury. He can project blasts of concussive force and mass-intensifier beams that impose tremendous weight down on an opponent. Supremor is also capable of using the elastic and prehensile tentacles on his head and backside to leech the intellect out of fallen opponents, storing their consciousnesses within him until he can transfer their minds into the Supreme Intelligence's own vast data-banks.

SUPER-SKRULL

 

SUPER-SKRULL

Real Name: Kl’rt

First Appearance: Fantastic Four (Vol. 1) #18, September 1963

Powers: Kl’rt is a member of the Skrulls, an extraterrestrial race native to the Andromeda galaxy who possess shape-shifting capabilities. He can morph between any number of humanoid appearances and sustain many kinds of physical assaults without undue injury by reconfiguring his adaptive molecules to undo the damage inflicted on him.

He became the first Super-Skrull via bionic re-engineering, allowing him to duplicate the combined powers of the Fantastic Four.

He can manifest superhuman strength (up to Class 10) at will by morphing his arms into sturdy, animated rock. His natural Skrull elasticity has been increased as well, allowing him to stretch to many times his normal length, compress his mass into a flattened state, coil and construct around objects, etc. He can summon high-temperature flame on command to project fireballs, streams of flame, or blast pyrotechnic force beneath himself in order to fly, and also is able to draw on hyperspace force to render himself or other objects invisible to detection, and cast invisible force fields to shields himself from harm.

The limitation on his duplicated abilities was that he often was forced to rely on cosmic transmission beams from the Skrull homeworld to sustain his powers.
