Powers: Liam Connaughton is a mutant capable of generating and projecting highly destructive explosive energy. His mutant power appears to convert his own bio-energies into unstable concussive force that can be released either directly from his body or remotely at a chosen target. Unlike conventional explosives, the energy manifests without requiring a chemical fuel or physical detonator.
When employing his abilities offensively, Liam can unleash focused energy blasts or create localized explosions powerful enough to demolish structures and inflict severe concussive damage over a considerable radius. The exact upper limit of the explosive yield has never been established, although his earliest manifestations were sufficiently powerful to attract police investigations as apparent terrorist bombings.
Liam's mutant ability originally manifested involuntarily in response to emotional stress. During adolescence, he possessed little conscious control over either the timing or magnitude of the explosions, making his powers as dangerous to nearby civilians as to intended targets. This lack of control allowed a terrorist organization to exploit him as a living weapon.
Subsequent appearances indicate that Liam eventually gained a significant degree of mastery over his mutation. He has demonstrated the ability to consciously initiate detonations, direct the point of origin of an explosion, and discharge focused energy blasts rather than relying solely upon uncontrolled omnidirectional bursts.
Although Liam can produce tremendous destructive force, he has never demonstrated enhanced durability or immunity to external injury beyond whatever limited protection his own energy generation may incidentally provide. His mutation appears devoted entirely to offensive energy projection rather than increased physical resilience.
