WIND DANCER

WIND DANCER

Real Name: Sofia Mantega
First Appearance: The New Mutants (Vol. 2) #1, July 2003

Powers: Sofia’s mutant power was elemental. She could manipulate ambient air molecules and use them to create controlled air funnels to lift herself off the ground and fly, or similarly lift and maneuver other objects with a degree of finesse. Sofia could produce compressed gusts of wind which could hurl things about with great force, create razor sharp winds that slice into and through her opponents, and form a cyclone expanding out from her position to pick up and throw about anything in her vicinity. She could also scramble someone's inner ear with concentrated air, causing them to lose balance and experience vertigo. Wind Dancer could also cause the wind to bring distant sounds into range for her to hear. She could either bring these sounds into the general area, allowing anyone nearby her to hear them as well, or carry the sounds directly to her own ears, so that only she could hear them. Just the opposite, Sofia could propel sounds away from her vicinity, creating zones of total silence.

After being depowered on M-Day, Sofia began using a collection of technology provided for her by the New Warriors. As Renascence, she carried a pair of pulse pistols and has a costume which generated a golden aura that acted as a protective force field. Her backpack had a set of six telescopic and retractable mechanical arms resembling those of Doctor Octopus. They're strong enough to lift her off the ground, strike opponents from a distance or deflect attacks, and project bolts of electrical fire from their tips. Like all members of the new New Warriors, Sofia had a utility belt with cartridges containing Pym Particles for reducing opponents down to size or impact webbing for quickly wrapping up and restraining felons. Her suit also generated an anti-gravity platform for flight and propulsion, and contained a "Ghost Mode" that rendered her intangible and utterly unaffected by physical assaults. Night Thrasher was able to remotely trigger the ghost circuitry, but it is unknown if he granted independent control of the ability to his teammates prior to the New Warriors' disbandment.

She has since died, and been resurrected and repowered under the mutant island nation-state of Krakoa.

WARWOLVES

WARWOLVES

First Appearance: Excalibur Special Edition (Vol. 1) #1, April 1988

Traits: The Warwolves are a race of sentient lupine/humanoid hybrid servants created through genetic engineering by Mojoworld scientists under the supervision of Mojo, Mojoworld’s ruler.

They can stand erect on their hind legs or walk and run on all fours. They have slick, smooth skin and sharp claws on each paw, the front of which have four fingers and an opposable thumb and can be used as hands or feet, while their hind paws have three toes with no thumb. They are immune to direct psychic attacks (like telepathy and telekinesis), can track prey by scent, have great leaping abilities, and can withstand great injury even when their malleable bodies have been damaged. The Warwolves can drain the life force of their victims, causing their skeletons and internal organs to dissolve, leaving behind their intact skin, which the Warwolves can then wear, changing their shape to match that of the victims. They can also mimic the voices of their victims, and those of others.

The Warwolves are ruthless hunters with a strong sense of humor who constantly bicker with one another. Each has a great fondness for televised entertainment and movies. Working together, multiple Warwolves can psionically create interdimensional portals and merge into a single being while retaining individual heads and psyches.

SPIRAL

SPIRAL

Real Name: Rita Wayword
First Appearance: Longshot (Vol. 1) #1, September 1985

Powers: Spiral is the future self of "Ricochet Rita" Wayword, a Hollywood stuntwoman who was attacked by Spiral and then followed the dimensionally-displaced Longshot into Mojoworld. Rita was left there, captured and tortured until insane. At some point in the future, she is physically modified by Longshot's creator Arize and Mojo until she became Spiral. Mojo then sent Spiral back in time to set into motion the events that led to her transformation in the first place.

Rita was bio-cybernetically altered, giving her transformed physical abilities and the capacity for magic. As Spiral, she possesses enhanced levels of strength, stamina, and reflexes, and has a total of six arms, two of which are partially bionic. Her magical powers are called upon and directed through an elaborate series of gestures and gyrations that resemble dancing. Her most common ability is the power to navigate dimensional pathways in order to travel through time and space, or between dimensional planes. Spiral can assault her opponents with spells that create concussive force, shatter solid materials, trigger temporary or permanent loss of superhuman powers, immobilize her victims or instantly renders them unconscious. She can also create solid force fields as domes or disks for protection. Spiral has mystical senses allowing her to detect a wide variety of things such as energy signatures, familiar psi-patterns, mystical occurrences, etc. She frequently employs a set of razor sharp swords or dagger in battle.

Spiral's mind has been shattered and rebuilt many times, and her memories come and go as she travels through dimensions. She frequently has limited knowledge of the future to come, but her knowledge of the past may be just as limited. At some point in time, she will create the inter-dimensional Body Shoppe that her earlier self has managed, and through it she can physically and mentally transform beings into whatever she desires.
