Real Name: Marius St. Croix

First Appearance: Generation X (Vol. 1) #1, November 1994

Powers: Emplate’s mutation has rendered him out of sync with this dimensional plane. He stabilizes himself by absorbing the genetically-augmented marrow in mutant bones. Tiny mouths in his palms bite into his opponent's flesh on contact, and apparently absorb the victim's marrow by converting it into a type of bio-energy he can synthesize into himself. When Emplate has properly supped, he can control his dimensional synchronicity, deliberately stepping out of phase with our plane to move about invisibly, intangibly, and without making noise or leaving a scent.

Feeding on a mutant's marrow also allows Emplate to duplicate their powers, and these powers can become permanent if he feeds on the mutant for an extended period of time. Emplate can also duplicate bio-energy signatures on contact, thus allowing him to produce sonic blasts after being hit by Banshee's sonic scream. Furthermore, he has a unique visual perception allowing him to see a mutant's bio-signature as an aura of rainbow light surrounding them. He can also apparently draw some basic knowledge about that person and their life through that aura.

Powers: Gateway is a mutant and also a medicine man for his Australian Aboriginal tribe. He was well-versed in the quasi-mystical religion and practices of his people, including the "dream time". As a result, he possesses a wide range of powers and abilities not specifically attributed to either source. In either case, Gateway is capable of opening up portals between time, space and dimensions. He typically does this by whirling his bullroarer, but while his gateways sometimes materialized within the radius of the spinning rock, it is apparently not necessary for them to do so. The portals he opened can transport people to anywhere on the planet's surface, across decades of time, and into alternate planes of perception. It was through the last method that Gateway was able to visually show Wolverine how Magneto's "dark ego" infected Xavier's mind to create Onslaught.

Gateway has at least some form of telepathic perception and communication abilities. Although he rarely chooses to, he can speak aloud or mentally by projecting his thoughts at others. He is sensitive to the thoughts of others, and so always knew where the X-Men wanted to go when they were living in Australia with him, and when they wanted to be summoned home, despite not noticeably communicating with them in any way. Gateway can apparently perceive in advance any location to opens a portal to, a form of omni-clairvoyance which keeps him well informed about the past, present and future.

Real Name: Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix

Powers: M’s mutant power is that her mental and physical attributes conform to her notion of an ideal self. As such, she possesses Superhuman Class 50 strength, superhuman speed, endurance, reflexes, vision, hearing, intelligence, near-invulnerability, flight, and telepathy. She is fast enough to grab bullets out of the air and throw them back through a target at full speed. Her speed and advanced perceptual abilities allow her to search an entire filing cabinet in seconds to locate a single file. Monet also has a photographic memory, encyclopedic knowledge, and the ability to intuitively analyze any technological device, acquiring expert skill at operating it within moments. When her twin sisters were posing as her, the autistic twin Claudette would often take control of their shared body when the situation required M to focus on a problem or concentrate deeply. With her telepathy, she has demonstrated the power to read the minds of other people, project her consciousness into the astral plane, withstand psychic pressure exerted on her by other telepaths, plant powerful illusions in the minds of others, wipe their memories, or force them to fall asleep.

If was often suggested early on that M's physical powers were just an expression of tactile telekinesis. Later, Monet demonstrated actual telekinesis, applying force to matter over a distance without touching it. Whether she will demonstrate greater telekinetic abilities over time is unclear. She can also now assume the "Penance" form, with her mass compressing and restricting around her bones, creating an atrophied look. This transformation gives her skin a dark red coloration, which also making it razor sharp and diamond hard.
