THE TWELVE

THE TWELVE

Roster: Bishop (Lucas Bishop), Cable (Nathan Summers), Cyclops (Scott Summers), Iceman (Robert Drake), Living Monolith (Ahmet Abdol), Magneto (Max Eisenhart), Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Polaris (Lorna Dane), Professor X (Charles Xavier), Mikhail Rasputin, Storm (Ororo Munroe) and Sunfire (Shiro Yoshida)
First Appearance: X-Factor (Vol. 1) #14, March 1987 (first mention); The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #377, February 2000

History:
In the future timeline of the Askani, the fabled Twelve were a group of powerful mutants who could have potentially stopped the rise of Apocalypse, but for some reason failed. Information on the Twelve also existed in the present-day modern era, spread by Destiny's diaries and the time-traveling Askani sister Madame Sanctity, who inputed their identities in the Sentinel Master Mold. Rumors and confusion ran rampant about the Twelve's true purpose, and even their identities.

In the end, the Twelve were revealed to be a sham. Apocalypse deliberately started the legends of the Twelve in order to gather a special set of mutants. These mutants acted as living components to the very machine which allowed his ascension in the first place. His forces captured all of them, and the twelve mutants are put into containment capsules and then used in a special machine. The Living Monolith is placed in the center to bundle all of the energies involved. Polaris and Magneto as opposing magnetic poles are on an inner ring, Storm , Iceman and Sunfire as extreme forces of nature are on a middle ring, and the other mutants placed on an outer ring. Cyclops, Jean and Cable representing the unity of family, Bishop and Mikhail providing as control over time and space and Xavier providing the power of pure thought. Combined the Twelve grant Apocalypse omnipotence, so he has their energies transferred into the body of Nate Grey, aka X-Man, whom he wanted to use as his next host body.

Among those mutants rumored to be part of the Twelve were Apocalypse himself, Cannonball (Samuel Guthrie), Mirage (Danielle Moonstar), Psylocke (Elisabeth Braddock), and Franklin Richards.

LOURDES CHANTEL

LOURDES CHANTEL

Real Name: Lourdes Chantel
First Appearance: Classic X-Men (Vol. 1) #7, March 1987

Powers: Lourdes Chantel is a mutant born with the power of teleportation. Her ability operates by gathering ambient energy in the atmosphere and then shaping it into an energy matrix. Once shaped, she could mentally direct this matrix to dematerialize matter and objects; transporting herself, inanimate matter, and other people if they were in her vicinity at the time over great distances. With extreme effort, she could teleport herself and two others approximately 100 miles, although this exhausted her to the point of nearly collapsing. It took her time to recharge her energies and, after a major effort, she could only transport herself and one another a few feet.

OMEGA SENTINEL

OMEGA SENTINEL

Real Name: Karima Shapandar
First Appearance: X-Men Unlimited (Vol. 1) #27, June 2000

Powers: Karima Shapandar was transformed into a Prime Sentinel cyborg during Operation: Zero Tolerance, using the most advanced Omega technology implants. These implants wired themselves into her physiology at a genetic level, and reconstructed virtually her entire arms and legs along with considerable masses of technology in her stomach and along her spine up to the control circuitry in her brain. The Nannites flooding her cells were capable of regenerating large amounts of damaged or lost tissue and circuitry, and analyzing these damages in order to construct protective measures that prevent her from suffering from the same form of attack again. Her cybernetics give her superhuman strength, reflexes, and naturally high resistance to many forms of physical injury. She is equipped with telescopic, x-ray and magnetic resonant imaging visual abilities, in addition to proximity sensors that can detect masses and movement in her general vicinity. Her broadband and individual bio-scanners can pick up on all life signs on an area as wide as the island of Genosha, and perform medical scans on people to determine the extent of any injuries they possess. She also bio-tags individuals she comes across with her sensors, letting her recognize and pinpoint their locations specifically as she chooses.

Karima's on-board central processing unit has vast data storage and collating ability, and a constantly active satellite modem allows her to access information the world over at a moment's notice. She has the capacity to project holograms of various kinds, usually technical in nature like full body scans or topographical representations of a landscape. She can also project an interactive hologram over miles to see, hear, and speak with people at distant locations. These holographic projections can lock on to one of her bio-tags to automatically materialize before a given individual she has met previously. For offensive purposes, Karima is capable of supersonic flight and has a wide range of weapons and devices stored in collapsible and retractable housings on her fingers, shoulders, wrists and forearms, abs, thighs and shins. In addition to searchlights, tracking lasers, rail guns, and plasma knives, she also has high energy volt-casters that telescope like tuning forks from the sides of her forearms. Her fingers are capable of extending razor sharp blades or projecting rapid-fire armor-piercing darts.

Karima Shapandar is a skilled markswoman, detective-inspector, and hand-to-combatant having graduated from the Stardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy.

X-51

X-51

Real Name: Aaron Stack (legal name); Z2P45-9-X-51 (model number)
First Appearance: 2001: A Space Odyssey #8, July 1977

Powers: X-51 was an experimental model of artificially intelligent robot, created by Doctors Stack and Broadhurst and raised by Abel Stack as if he were his son. Otherwise known as Aaron Stack or the Machine Man, X-51 possessed a solar energy power supply which gave him considerable stamina providing he powered down occasionally for sleep and recharge. He had superhuman Class 5 strength, reflexes nine times faster than a normal man, a titanium exo-structure that was both laser and temperature resistant, and computer-enhanced processing ability. In extreme temperature conditions, he could use thermal vents and siphons in his hands to drastically alter his body temperature and adapt to his surroundings. These thermal units could also be used to super-heat or freeze objects on contact. X-51 also had telescopic and infrared vision, and could receive radio and television transmissions from his environment, and use his eyes to project the television images for all to see. His neck, arms, and legs could each extend over 100 feet on collapsible metal cable. His right arm contained a series of weapon modules in his fingers, capable of projecting shockwave blasts, lasers, solar-intensity flames, or stun beams. He also had a projectile tangle wire in his chest which could wrap up and restrain his opponents. For transportation, he had retractable tank treads under his arms which could propel him along on his stomach, and plates on his feet which connect into a skateboard underneath him. Machine Man also had magnetic plates on his feet and suction cups on his fingers allowing him to scale surfaces, spring coils on his soles, and was able to generate anti-gravity in order to make him and anything he carried weightless. Jets on his boots could propel him faster with either his treads or skateboard, or combine with his anti-gravity generator in order to fly at supersonic speeds. However, his anti-grav units were significantly damaged and rendered inoperative shortly after he escaped into the real world. He did adapt a dimensional transfer device into his circuits, allowing him to teleport across a city in a moment's notice. Machine Man could modify his components for various situations, such as removing the wheels from his treads and attaching them to his feet to glide along on rail tracks, or affix his weapon modules to his soles and use them like a short-term rocket booster.

After being critically damaged in battle with the Hulk, X-51 was rebuilt with a large number of his experimental systems removed to cut down strain on his circuitry. His anti-gravity and boot jets were restored, but he could only fly at about 50 mph and his weapon modules, dimensional transfer, treads, skateboard, coils, etc were all disabled. He was given a number of new modular instruments stored in his belt which could be attached to his fingers if he needed them, including regular and electronic lock picks, spectroscope, cellular transmission receiver, laser torch, .357 magnum, video receivers so that he can see around corners and over a distance by telescoping his hands, and so on. He also began demonstrating the power to channel electricity and magnetism: He could expel his own power supply as arcs of electricity from his hands, or tap into generators and funnel that power through his hands as well, or use it to artificially construct a magnetic polarity field. Early on, he required a wig and synthetic face mask in order to disguise himself and walk among normal humans undetected. Later on, however, he adopted the ability to reconfigure his exo-structure, shifting between his regular armored appearance and a more human, plain-clothed look.

During a conflict with MasterMold, X-51 was temporarily taken over by the Sentinel and infused with nanite enhancements. He regained control of himself, and his new power capacity became dormant until he suffered critical systems damage in a battle with the Red Skull on board the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. He only sustained himself by downloading his consciousness into a Life Model Decoy, and later totally regenerated into a new Machine Man by attaching his original severed head in place of the LMD's own lost head. In this new form he had vastly increased strength and durability, as well as the hyper-adaptability of most later-model Sentinels. If he was damaged in combat, X-51's systems could repair that damage and adjust his systems to prevent him from ever suffering injury that same way again. He had extensive internal files on all known mutants and superhumans, in addition to ranged sensory scanners allowing him to make new identifications instantaneously. Whether based on past data in his files or new data acquired through first-hand analysis, Machine Man could reconstruct his internal systems in order to create a variety of defensive and offensive measures specifically tailored to battle any given opponent. He generally manifested concussive plasma blasts, telescopic arms, and supersonic thrusters as his typical features. In later months, Aaron demonstrated the ability to physically reconstruct his entire body at will, such as changing into a motorcycle-like mode for transportation. He is now capable of manifesting all manner of tools and weapons out of his chest or hands simply by willing them to form.

STEVEN LANG

STEVEN LANG

Real Name: Steven Lang
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #97, February 1976

Powers: Dr. Steven Lang was a baseline human with no superhuman powers, as well as an expert in robotics and genetics and the creator of the Mark III Sentinels. Later, he cybernetically linked himself to the artificial intelligence of his Mastermold Sentinel. However, the process of a mental connection for the two left Lang a mindless shell, while copying his personality and memory engrams into the Mastermold itself. While recuperating in a convalescent home, Lang was recruited to become part of the Earth-based faction of the techno-organic beings known as the Phalanx.

The Phalanx exist as incidental biological refuse created by Technarchy life cycles. When the Technarchy feed on organic life energy, they expose living matter to a Transmode Virus (which is part of their physiology) before consuming it. If all the techno-organic matter is not consumed, it may survive after the Technarchy moves on. Because Transmode-infected matter is highly contagious, infestations of techno-organic matter and beings may grow unchecked, often forming an offshoot known as the Phalanx. On Earth, the Phalanx were created deliberately by the Friends of Humanity in an effort to forge a new breed of living Sentinels to exterminate mutantkind. The original Phalanx drones and agents were created through exposure to the Transmode virus harvested from the ashes of the Technarch known as Warlock. The Phalanx assimilate the sentience of its victims in a manner that unified everyone infected by the Transmode virus into a collective intelligence (a vast hive mind where every memory, viewpoint, and sensory experience could be sampled and revisited by any parts of the whole, maintaining constant and direct telepathic communication between all parties). Lang's recruitment was meant to monitor and control the actions of the hundreds of Phalanx, needing his mind to act as an interface with the techno-organic collective intelligence.

As the human host of the Phalanx collective and a partial Transmode-infectee, Lang could manipulate the techno-organic matter of the entire race, communicate telepathically, and translate computer languages. He provided the collective with focus and direction and had access to all of the thoughts and actions of each Phalanx linked to the collective. The various "individual" Phalanx had only limited capacity for creative thinking beyond following the directives of the collective. Lang gave the Phalanx guidance and helped coordinate and update their mission parameters.

MADAME SANCTITY

MADAME SANCTITY

Real Name: Tanya Trask
First Appearance: Askani'Son (Vol. 1) #1, February 1996

Powers: Madame Sanctity’s mutant powers include vast psionic and chronal abilities. Her primary power is time-shifting, allowing her to generate chronal energies that enable her to travel forward and backwards in time or control her temporal synchronicity. This allows her to phase in and out of sync with the timestream altogether (as was the case when her power first manifested). She is capable of displacing herself and others at least 2,000 years into the future and back again, and can travel in astral form. She possesses telepathy allowing to read minds within a seemingly limitless radius, create psionic illusions, assume mental control of a person’s mind and body, project her astral form, and project psionic energy bolts that affect the mind. She is also a powerful telekinetic who can manipulate matter with the energy of her thoughts, create force fields and fire concussive psionic force blasts. By using her telekinesis to levitate herself, Sanctity can fly at incredible speeds. She can sustain shields that can withstand Jovian atmospheric pressures, and even repel nuclear weapon attacks.

MOIRA X

MOIRA X

Real Name: Moira Ann Kinross MacTaggert
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #96, December 1975

Powers: Moira MacTaggert possesses the mutant power of reincarnation. Upon her physical death, the sum total of knowledge and life experiences Moira has undergone is transmitted backwards in time, entering her still developing mind in the womb. She then relives the same period of time repeatedly from birth until the next time she dies by natural causes or other means. Moira reportedly has an eidetic memory, perfect recall of everything she has ever learned or experienced across ten lifetimes of activity. Through trial and error, Moira determined that her life would instinctively play out the same way unless she intentionally acted differently, causing new events to unfold.

It’s been presumed that Moira's power doesn’t create new timelines with each iteration, but rather annihilates the old timeline in place of the next one. However, this would mean that the progression of all of time and space is suspended indefinitely until Moira becomes immortal or her power is blocked somehow, which seems counter-intuitive. Furthermore, it has been speculated that Moira's x-gene still activates at puberty like a normal mutant. And so, while she always is born with her prior knowledge, the ability to cast her knowledge back in time does not activate until she's thirteen. Consequently, it’s presumed if Moira died in her lifetime before puberty, she would presumably die permanently.

Some form of secondary mutation linked to Moira's mutant power is a form of passive invisibility that conceals her mutation from others. Telepaths can scan Moira's mind without noticing her true nature, and Moira may even be able to actively block telepathic intrusion from someone who knows what she is. Similarly, during her third life, the precognitive mutant named Destiny confessed that Moira was difficult to read or predict at first, although after she learned Moira was a mutant her senses seemed to recalibrate, allowing her to perceive even reincarnated lives that Moira had not reached yet (although, given the circumstances, Destiny could have been lying). Finally, it seems implicit that mutant-detection technology like Cerebro has also proven incapable of detecting Moira.

Dr. Moira MacTaggert is of genius-level intelligence and was a Nobel Prize-winning geneticist. She earned a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of Oxford and is one of the world's leading geneticists, with special expertise in the study of superhumanly powerful mutants. Her 10 lifetimes (over 1,000 years) have armed her with significant experience, including expertise in the fields of anthropology and genetics, firearms mastery, and leading various mutant survival movements until their eventual downfall.

BASTION

BASTION

Real Name: Inapplicable
First Appearance: X-Men (Vol. 2) #52, May 1996

Powers: Bastion was the magically recreated form of the Nimrod/Mastermold Sentinel hybrid. During a battle with the X-Men, the hybrid was forced through the Siege Perilous, an inter-dimensional gateway bestowed upon the group by Roma, the Omniversal Majestrix. According to Roma, all who entered the portal were judged by “the highest of powers” and given a chance at rebirth. When it re-emerged from the portal, the Sentinel amalgamation was brought forth in a form no longer artificial, but one of flesh and blood. Unlike others who have gone through the same process, the Sentinel amalgamation would remember the process and assign his own beliefs to the motives of the “higher powers.” He would come to believe that the powers deemed him worthy of his most fervent desire. As such, this power, which he perceived to be feminine, transformed him into a man. Though now stripped of all artificiality and now a fully grown human male, the reborn Sentinel did not know what it was to be human. Furthermore, he had absolutely no memory of his former existence.

He originally appeared to be a synthezoid, a combination of mechanical and pseudo-organic parts which appeared outwardly human. He seemed to be stronger, faster, and possessed better sensory acuity than a normal person, and was immune to psionic probes. After Operation: Zero Tolerance was decommissioned, Bastion's old lives reasserted themselves somewhat, and he began to demonstrate the pre-programmed molecular conversion abilities possessed by Nimrod, reconfiguring his relatively normal techno-physiology to replicate many of the powers and technologies Nimrod once had. He even created an outer armored shell mimicking his old mechanical state. Since then, Bastion has frequently been reduced to little more than a disembodied head, but retains machine telepathy and contact molecular reconstructive abilities, enabling him to mentally override and control mechanical systems from a short distance away as well as fuse with other androids or robotics, converting them into new bodies for himself.

Briefly, he was transmoded into the being called Template after infusion with a techno-mechanical virus cultivated by Mainspring. A derivation of the transmode virus employed by the Technarchy and the Phalanx to convert organic matter into techno-organic matter, the techno-mechanical virus was capable of transfiguring inorganic matter in much the same way. Techno-mechanical substance was not self-powering, as it contained none of the "lifeglow" found in techno-organic matter, but was capable of advanced morphing and reconstruction when fed sufficient amounts of artificial power. As the core of Mainspring's techno-mechanical system, Template had adapted an entire space station as an extension of himself, and could use its satellite communications to transmit the techno-mechanical virus down to Earth, "infecting" computers and other receivers with the virus as well. This let him reshape and animate such receivers from a distance and spread the virus through anything they touched. Later, Bastion was reborn by connecting his head to the deactivated body of an alternate future Nimrod, giving him his original synthezoid body and yet the full power of a Nimrod.

NIMROD

NIMROD

Real Name: Inapplicable
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #191, March 1985

Powers: Nimrod was the ultimate example of future Sentinel technology, designed to be a counter-measure for Omega class mutants in Earth-811. Although man-sized, Nimrod's power far exceeded his larger Sentinel brethren. He possessed Class 100 strength, considerable durability, a force field to maintain additional structural integrity, and the capacity for molecular-level reconstruction. Exterior damage could be repaired in a matter of minutes, and even being reduced to a pile of scrap metal would not stop Nimrod from regenerating himself back to full functionality. Nimrod's reconstructive abilities also enabled him to mimic a human appearance, operating unnoticed while in public. His programming also included a neural net processor enabling him to think and learn like a human, making him a more efficient infiltrator. He possessed wide range sensory and analytical capabilities, capable of locating and tracking mutants or any other specific individual across the island of Manhattan. His adaptive tactical abilities allowed Nimrod to manifest offensive or defensive measures of virtually any sort to deal with general threats, or create specific counter-measures to prevent any specific attack from being used against him more than once. He was even able to artificially recreate time travel mechanisms within moments in order to follow Rachel Summers back through time.

Among the features Nimrod has demonstrated in the past include blasts of concussive force, electricity, ultra-high frequency sonics, plasma bolts, wide-angle shockwebs, and a total disintegration ray. He can also use localized tractor beams and repulsor beams to lift and then pull or blast away objects as well. Similar repulsor technology also gave him the power of flight. He can produce a psionic inhibitor field to prevent telepathic communication in his presence, and immunize his body against telekinesis or molecular reconstructive assaults like Selene's. A synaptic dislocuter he once created could jam neural transmissions, and was powerful enough to even paralyze the Juggernaut. Against the Black King, he created a gravitational anomaly to counter Shaw's physical resilience, launching the man uncontrollably into the stratosphere. When dealing with a teleporter like Nightcrawler, Nimrod could sense electromagnetic fluctuations in order to predict Kurt's re-entry point ahead of time, or producing conflicting energy fields at close range, turning the displacement effect violently against his opponent. During his brief resurrection, Nimrod also demonstrated MIAD systems -- mutagenic inversion aerial drones, which locked onto the mutant energy signature of their targets, tracking them and then turning that energy signature against the individual. If necessary, Nimrod was even capable of extracting himself from hazardous situations through teleportation, although this seemed like a last resort.

LARRY TRASK

LARRY TRASK

Real Name: Lawrence Trask
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #57, June 1969

Powers: Larry Trask was a mutant with the power of clairvoyance. He could perceive objects, people, and future events without the use of his physical senses. His power usually manifested as him experiencing sudden visions of the future. He wore a medallion around his neck that was shaped and designed in such a manner to supress his powers and the ability of others to detect his powers via Cerebro, Sentinel tech, and so on.

Larry Trask is also the creator of the Mark II Sentinels. An improvement on the original Sentinel designs of his father, Dr. Bolivar Trask, the Mark II Sentinels possessed greater strength and durability, capture features such as sleep gas, weighted metal nets, and restricting metal coils, x-ray visi-probes for detecting inner workings and hidden power sources, and hyper-adaptability protocols enabling them to alter their combat parameters and weaponry as necessary to face any newly identified threat.

SENTINELS

SENTINELS

First Appearances: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #14, November 1965 (Mark I Sentinels); The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #57, June 1969 (Mark II Sentinels); The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #96, January 1975 (Mark III Sentinels); The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #151, November 1981 (Mark IV Sentinels); The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #2, April 1983 (Mark V Sentinels); The New Mutants (Vol. 1) #48, February 1987 (Mark VI Sentinels); X-Men (Vol. 2) #65, June 1997 (Prime Sentinels); X-Men Unlimited (Vol. 1) #27, June 2000 (Omega Sentinels); New X-Men #114-115, June-July 2001 (Wild/Mega Sentinels)

Powers: The Sentinels are large, semi-humanoid robots designed to locate and then either capture or kill superhuman mutants. Originally created by noted anthropologist Bolivar Trask, numerous improved Sentinels have been built since the destruction of the original models.

The Mark I Sentinels were the original Sentinels created by Dr. Trask and were roughly twice as tall as normal humans, and possessed considerable strength, speed, durability and, computing power. Each was equipped with chest-mounted concussive blasting rays, palm-mounted fiery heat rays, stun rays, destructo-beams, and finger-mounted micro-electric blasts. Naturally, they all each possessed a "computo-meter" able to detect the presence of mutants. Sentinels could also fly thanks to propul-units in their boots. Individual Sentinels were highly limited in their ability to respond to new situations. Though they could compute logical responses to given stimuli, they were unable to act on those deductions without input from the Master Mold or their section leaders. As a result, a Sentinel once came across the X-Men after they unexpectedly infiltrated the Hive, and literally just walked off to find someone to tell him how to respond to their presence. The original Master Mold was easily three times the size of a regular Sentinel, with equivalently higher strength and powers. It also carried a disintegration beam in one finger. The Master Mold was brought to life using an ionic power source, and it in turn was capable of creating new Sentinels by sending charged syntho-particles into high-tech cubicles. When a human operator manipulated the controls on this "birthing creche", the particles were recreated into solid matter using pre-programmed blueprints and data, mass-producing a new group of Sentinels every few minutes.

The Mark II Sentinels (created by Larry Trask) were now three times the size of a normal human, and stronger and more durable as a result. Designed to capture as well as kill, they carried internal supplies of sleep gas, restricting steel nets, and fast-extending metal tendrills which could wrap up their targets. More importantly, each Sentinels was also now far more adaptable to new situations, able to identify mutants and other threats and then compute a logical response to them. Their x-ray visi-probes enabled them to detect hidden power signatures and the inner workings of objects. Their adaptability extended so far as to allow them to reconfigure their internal structures, creating defenses and counter-measures specifically to use against any mutant's given powers. Their leader Number 2 was mutated somewhat by the sun, giving him the ability to modify his own programming parameters to some degree, achieving near total-sentience. He could also engineer ultra-linear leaps, space-warps which allowed the Sentinels to teleport on command across the planet's surface.

The Mark III Sentinels (created by Dr. Stephen Lang) were recreations of the Mark II design. They proved capable of mechanically reproducing the ultra-linear leaps that Number 2's "mutant power" allowed him to generate. Due to their operations base in outer space, the Sentinels were also equipped with the ability to project atmospheres, specialized force fields capable of temporarily maintaining a safe environment for humans or mutants in the vacuum of space. In most ways, however, they proved to be inferior to the Mark IIs.

The Sentinel models Mark IV-VI were created by Shaw Industries and were of better quality than Lang's recreations. They demonstrated the standard strength and durability of Sentinels, in addition to retractable tentacles, palm and eye-mounted energy bolts, and a "starfire sequence" which could temporarily blind their opponents. Unlike previous models, however, these Sentinels were remote-guided from a secure location, containing no adaptability circuitry themselves, but rather relying on outside input being fed into them from their controllers. Mark V upgraded the previous design and were more autonomous than their predecessors. They were equipped with features including a concentrated laser disintegration ray, sub-zero freezing beams, and anesthetic gas nozzles. Mark VI Stealth Sentinels appeared to be a modification of the Mark IV design. Their special features enabled them to become virtually invisible to detection, jamming radar scans and using liquid quartz displays to project an invisibility effect that made them undetectable to the naked eye as well. They possessed various defensive features including force beams, explosive bursts, knock-out gas nozzles, and retractable metal tentacles.

Omega Sentinels, Hunter-Killers, were the futuristic Sentinels in Earth-811. Their war systems were designed for excessive combat with mutant entities, and thus had highly advanced adaptability circuitry, enabling them to identify threats and adapt offensive protocols or defensive countermeasures for them at a greatly accelerated rate over their "ancestors". They also contained a shared data net, which prevented any attack used on one Sentinel from later working on any other Sentinel. The Omega Sentinels' reconstructive abilities were impressive as well, enabling them to quickly cannibalize raw materials from the environment, remolding them into suitable components for repair work on their systems. Their metallic hand-coils were now strong enough to penetrate straight through solid metal. The Omegas could also generate power-dampening energy spheres to contain and transfer their prey. Some at least also seemed to have the power of independent teleportation for deployment or recovery of units.

The Prime Sentinels were a cybernetic fusion of humans and Sentinel technology. Each could function effectively as a "sleeper agent", looking and thinking like a completely normal human being until confronted with a mutant threat, at which point their nanotech metamorphic tissue would manifest and convert them into active Sentinel agents. Prime Sentinels possessed a number of integrated features, including superhuman strength, endurance, reflexes, durability, expansive force fields, and regenerative powers which could repair their mechanical components and even preserve their organic parts to a degree as well. Their sensors were as keen as any previous model of Sentinel, granting superhuman sight, hearing, the ability to detect mutant and superhuman energy signatures, and multiple scanning frequencies including sub-visual, thermal, sonic, and bio-kinetic. They were capable of firing specially-primed bio-blasts keyed to the specific genetic matrix of a given target, causing maximum damage. They could also fire plasma bolts, laser light beams from their optics, and a wide-angle annihilation beam. Designated Prime combat units could also feed off of each other's energy generators, working together to create a high-yield explosive discharge. The Prime Sentinels contained internal cloaking systems, allowing them to become functionally invisible to all electronic means of detection. They were also capable of flight.

Awhile after the Mark I Sentinels were publicly unveiled, the designs of the Mark I Master Mold unit had been acquired by some division or project funded by the US government. They then used the blueprints to secretly build a Master Mold factory in the highlands of Ecuador. While this Master Mold was designed with an artificial intelligence, the intelligence of this unit was much different, as it was precision-engineered to adapt to its environment and programmed to build “Wild Sentinels,” using any and all technology within its radius. The result was a breed of Sentinels which more resembled small, two-legged dinosaurs. Some models displayed serpentine-like lower halves, and yet others resembled giant insects like spiders and locusts.

The project was eventually abandoned, but when the facility was re-discovered, it was empty, with the exception of its Sentinel guardians. A programming error that the government team had accidentally copied from Bolivar Trask’s original schematics resulted in the Sentinel guardians allowing both control of the robots and entry to them to only individuals with the Trask DNA. Cassandra Nova discovered that flaw decades later and then sought out and recruited Dr. Donald Trask III, a nephew of Bolivar who lived in Albuquerque running his own dental practice. With Donald’s presence, Cassandra gained entrance into the facility and convinced him to order the Master Mold unit to construct two immense Mega-Sentinels, which they then sent to the island nation of Genosha. There, the two Mega-Sentinels annihilated over sixteen million mutants.

The Wild Sentinels possessed self-construction and -reconstruction capabilities that enabled them to cannibalize scrap metal and raw materials into highly variable, but functional body types, which were typically equipped with more conventional armaments like blades, whirling buzz saws, incorporated human handguns or heavy artillery, restraining chains, and rocket boosters for flight.

The Mega Sentinels were a form of Wild Sentinels designed for wide-scale genocide, possessing enormous size, coherent particle beam cannons, scattershot piercing lasers, and various additional weapon systems, capable of terrestrial and orbital flight.
