SIBERCAT

SIBERCAT

Real Name: Illyich Lavrov
First Appearance: X-Factor Annual (Vol. 1) #1, October 1986

Powers: Sibercat is a mutant possessing feral attributes. His feline mutation grants him skin covered with orange and black tiger-striped fur, augmented strength, speed, agility, endurance, and reflexes, as well as hyper-keen animal like senses, an increased recuperative ability, and razor sharp claws on the end of each finger.

BLIND FAITH

BLIND FAITH

Real Name: Alexi Garnoff
First Appearance: X-Factor Annual (Vol. 1) #1, October 1986

Powers: Blind Faith is a mutant telepath who specializes in hypnotic manipulation. He casts psionic energy from his eyes to entrance others, leaving them highly open to suggestion. Once hypnotized, he can command others to perform simple actions upon request, or leave post-hypnotic suggestions in their minds to influence their behavior after they emerged from the trance. In this manner, he can alter someone's memories or compulsively carry out specific instructions without question. He can also telepathically sense all minds in his vicinity.

Alexi Garnoff is an ordained Catholic priest.

URSA MAJOR

URSA MAJOR

Real Name: Mikhal Urklovitch Ursus
First Appearance: The Incredible Hulk (Vol. 1) #258, April 1981

Powers: The Ursa Major is a mutant born with the power to transmorph into the form of a bipedal Siberian brown grizzly bear. Like Colossus, the Ursa Major has mildly-enhanced strength and resilience even in his normal state.

His bear form is larger and significantly stronger than a normal bear, at Superhuman Class 25. He can trigger his transformation at will with the process taking less than 10 seconds to complete. The transformation adds approximately 700 pounds of muscle tissue, flesh, bone, and hair. In addition to superhuman strength, he also gains the reflexes, stamina, speed and durability of an adult Siberian grizzly bear. He has razor sharp claws on each finger used for attack, foraging, digging, and climbing. He has specialized pads on his bear feet that keep him steady on slippery ice and snow. His fur also has extra layers and insulation to protect his feet from the cold. His bear form has acute hearing and super sense of smell.

He possesses the necessary dexterity to lift and manipulate objects with his forepaws like a normal man and he retains both his human intelligence and speaking ability in both forms. Originally, if he remained in his bear form for more than 6 hours, he would lose control over his human intelligence.

VANGUARD

VANGUARD

Real Name: Nikolai Krylenko
First Appearance: Iron Man (Vol. 1) #109, April 1978

Powers: Vanguard's mutant power generates a reflective energy field virtually identical to that of Unus the Untouchable. Vanguard is protected from nearly all possible forms of injury since his force field harmlessly repulses all forms of matter, electromagnetic, and kinetic energy, sending them back at the direction from which they originated. The critical ranges for his repulsion seem to be: Electromagnetic energy from 15 eV to 800 eV (electron volts) and kinetic energy from above 100 joules to 30 million joules. Thus, if a laser beam strikes his force field, it will be redirected back at its source. Even the concussive force of a punch will be repelled with equal force. Although the field never totally disappears, its effectiveness can be diminished by Vanguard's physical fatigue, repelling energy with less force than its bombardment.

By mentally adjusting the intensity of his field, Vanguard can control the amount of force with which projectile attacks are repelled and can even use his power to repel nearby, stationary objects that are not being directed at him. For long range assaults, he employs a focusing lens mechanism built into the hammer and sickle he carries, which channels his force field into a concussive blast when he crosses the two weapons over his chest. The hammer and sickle are also equipped with electromagnetic guidance circuitry that causes them to return to his hands after he throws them. Later, Vanguard became the Red Guardian, using a badge-shaped Vibranium shield.

DARKSTAR

DARKSTAR

Real Name: Laynia Petrovna
First Appearance: Champions (Vol. 1) #7, August 1976

Powers: Darkstar’s mutant ability attuned her into the physical substance of the Darkforce Dimension. The substance is intense black extra-dimensional energy and she can manipulate it to her will. She is connected to it by means of her consciousness being divided between her physical body and a Darkforce representation of the same, the two symbiotically linked.

Darkstar can project the Darkforce into simple mentally controlled forms such as pincers, rings, columns, spheres, and so on. She can form objects with the density of steel. She can form objects with a maximum volume of approximately 750 cubic feet, sufficient to encompass ten human beings comfortably. These objects are solid and well defined while she consciously wills them to be. If she is rendered unconscious, they dissipate. Darkstar can also project the Darkforce as a beam of solid force, capable of impacting an object with sufficient power to rupture 3-inch solid high-carbon steel or tip over an average, loaded railroad boxcar (15 tons).

Darkstar can also employ the Darkforce to teleport herself and up to three others. She does this, in a manner similar to that of Cloak, by entering into the Darkforce's dimension of origin, traversing a distance (which may or may not be the linear correspondent distance in this dimension) and reemerging in Earth's space. She has so far been able to travel a maximum distance of about 4 miles in this way. Because crossing through the inter-dimensional portal disorients her sense of direction, and the light of the Earth dimension blinds her for several seconds upon reemergence, teleportation is risky. It also takes her several seconds to create a portal into the Darkforce dimension, preventing her from teleporting out of the way of such high velocity danger as a bullet.

Darkstar can utilize the attractive force of the Darkforce dimension to fly. By generating a virtually invisible portal into the dimension in the contour of her body, she balances its attractive force upon her against that of Earth's gravity, without passing through the portal. She can fly at speeds up to 120 miles per hour, the maximum velocity at which she is still able to breathe. She cannot support the weight of anyone other than herself while in flight.

Darkstar has often been described as having a "Darksoul", a second form of life essence overlapping her natural lifeforce to act as the source of her powers. She is a fair hand-to-hand combatant (trained by the KGB) and is fluent and both English and Russian.

GREMLIN

GREMLIN

Real Name: Kondrati Yurivich Topolov
First Appearance: The Incredible Hulk (Vol. 1) #163, May 1973

Powers: The Gremlin's father, the Gargoyle, was involved in an accident that unleashed radiation that horribly altered his face and body while vastly increasing his intelligence. The radiation that altered him was also passed on to his son, who was born a mutant as a result. He inherited the Gargoyle's grotesque appearance and genius-level intelligence. Accounts vary as to the exact age of the Gremlin, but it is known that he is not yet an adult. He matured rapidly and developed a mechanical and bio-genetic aptitude well above normal.

The Gremlin's mutation consists of having a large head, a small body, and superhuman intelligence. He can rapidly accumulate knowledge, recall it, apply it, or some combination of the above.
