THE AMAZING MERWOMAN

AMAZING MERWOMAN

Real Name: Patricia Hamilton
First Appearance: District X (Vol. 1) #1, July 2004

Powers: The Amazing Merwoman was born with an aquatic mutation which granted her various fish-like features, including scales and webbed fingers and toes. She can breathe on land or underwater via membranes extract sufficient oxygen from ambient water to allow her to function normally while underwater. Because her physiology is adapted for moving through the thicker medium of water, she has greater strength, speed, reflexes and durability than a regular person.

Patricia Hamilton was an Olympic-class swimmer.

TOAD BOY

TOAD BOY

Real Name: Tarquin Berderaux
First Appearance: District X (Vol. 1) #2, August 2004

Powers: Toad Boy was born with a grotesque physiology that began to produce an addictive and hallucinogenic chemical in his body's secretions when he reached puberty. His mutant power was used as a source for a party drug called “Toad Juice”. It caused pleasant hallucinations in mutants, but can be fatal to baseline humans, causing rapid random mutations often resulting in violent deaths. Tarquin’s mother was both the first to discover his mutant powers and become addicted to their effects. Given that she did not show any extreme reactions to “Toad Juice”, she is either a mutant herself or has some immunity to its negative side effects on humans due to her genetic relationship to Toad Boy and her repeated and prolonged exposure to his secretions.

The full extent of Tarquin’s mutations was reversed by Mister M.

HANNA LEVY

HANNA LEVY

Real Name: Hanna Levy
First Appearance: District X (Vol. 1) #2, August 2004

Powers: Hanna Levy’s mutant power was an altered digestive system and metabolism. Her tongue is both elastic and prehensile, allowing her to stretch it to a few dozen feet long, guiding it like a whip or lasso towards a given target. The rest of her digestive system is mutated for a strict diet of insects. Her body’s gastrointestinal tract can only process insects, breaking them down for their high levels of protein, calcium, iron, and zinc until her cells utilize those elements absorbed from the insects during digestion.

Hanna Levy has a degree in social history and is a researcher for a prominent historical journal.

FILTHY FRANKIE

FILTHY FRANKIE

Real Name: Francis Zapruder
First Appearance: X-Men Unlimited (Vol. 2) #2, June 2004

Powers: Filthy Frankie's mutant power constantly generates volatilized chemical compounds in high concentrations that humans and animals can perceive by their sense of smell. As a result, he produces an intense body odor at all times from his pores, which changes depending on his emotional state. In a content mood, his body will emanate pleasant fragrances, scents, and aromas. When angered, his body would generate a putrid odor.

ARTURO FALCONE

ARTURO FALCONE

Real Name: Arturo Falcone
First Appearance: District X (Vol. 1) #2, August 2004

Powers: Arturo Falcone was born with the mutant power to produce quasi-sentient creatures out from inside his body, creating different lifeforms depending on his mood and emotional state. In his youth, he had a happy disposition, so his power spawned small, beautiful creatures. As he aged, his disposition became jaded which was exacerbated by alcoholism, causing his creatures to be more deformed and monstrous.

The creatures he later in life came to produce accumulated under his skin in blisters that aggressively released the lifeforms when popped. The blisters formed anywhere on his body, causing him to painfully release the creatures once when the blisters popped. In his downtrodden middle age, his power and the accompanying blisters caused him constant physical agony.

XAVIER UNDERGROUND ENFORCERS (X.U.E.)

XAVIER UNDERGROUND ENFORCERS (X.U.E.)

Members: Greystone (Devlin Greystone); Archer; and Fixx
First Appearance: X-Factor (Vol. 1) #140, December 1997

History/Powers: Native to the future of the alternate reality of Earth-1191, the Xavier Underground Enforcers were a rogue, unsanctioned group comprised of former operatives of the X.S.E. (Xavier Security Enforcers).

Greystone is a mutant capable of expanding his mass, increasing in height, weight, strength, and durability in the process. The larger he becomes, the more his physical characteristics and facial features are distorted by the process, making him extremely odd-looking and virtually unrecognizable.

Archer has the mutant ability to transform himself into a photoelectric energy form. He wears a helmet and full-body suit whenever he is transformed, and it may be necessary to contain his energies. Archer can focus his bodily energy into volatile lances of force beamed out from ports on his suit, like the back of his hand or his elbows. He also uses a cane/staff weapon capable of conducting his power into taser-like charges that incapacitate his opponents on contact.

Fixx manifests mutant telepathy and telekinesis through the projection of psionic sprites. These sprites are little energy constructs that resemble tiny fairies with wings. By projecting a fast-flying stream of these sprites, she can hit an opponent or obstacle with solid impact, or she can throw a few thousand sprites into someone's path, creating a living wall that blocks their progress. Directing enough of the fairies to grab something or slip underneath it allows her to lift objects from a distance and cause the sprites to carry it about wherever she chooses. In terms of telepathic application, Fixx can use her sprites as spies and messengers, sending them out at the speed of thought to any location she wishes and enabling her to experience everything the sprite "sees" and "hears" there. If she wishes to communicate with someone, she composes a mental message and sends out a sprite like a carrier pigeon, seeking out the person she wants and entering their mental space, releasing the thought she sent directly into their mind. Anyone who absorbs a thought-sprite in this manner becomes psychically linked to Fixx, enabling her to pinpoint their location any time she wishes.

MOUNTJOY

MOUNTJOY

Real Name: Unrevealed
First Appearance: Bishop (Vol. 1) #1, December 1994

Powers: Hailing from the dystopian future reality of Earth-1191, Mountjoy has the mutant ability to fuse his molecular mass with another person. He can use his power in two ways:

By absorbing himself into another person's body, Mountjoy takes control over their actions as a ‘silent partner’. Generally, the victim (‘proxy’) is conscious, but Mountjoy’s facial features dominate the merger, and he is capable of reading through his host's mind so long as he is in their body. The second method by which he employs his mutant power is what he refers to as the ‘hostile takeover’, whereby he absorbs another person's body into himself. Mountjoy's metabolism begins to assimilate his victim's body after they are absorbed; if he isn't forced to divest them from his system in time, the victim simply ceases to exist as Mountjoy “digests” them entirely. Through a "hostile takeover", Mountjoy claims their psyche, memories, and any superhuman abilities his victim might possess. While his victim is still active in his system, they are frequently visible in some way, such as their face pressing out from the side of his skull, or extra limbs sticking out in various places. Mountjoy can also access and control their memories and superhuman powers up until the point they are completely assimilated into his structure.

Both methods are painful and uncomfortable to the victim, and the remnants of their bodies can sometimes be seen emerging from Mountjoy afterward, especially if a victim resists; if a victim resists during possession, Mountjoy cannot establish total dominance. He apparently can regain strength and vitality by absorbing others as food; and it's unrevealed if he eats or drinks.

Lastly, Mountjoy is capable of generating a “basilisk field”. Activated through eye contact, he can reach out and trap a victim in this invisible psionic field effect, which dramatically slows down their reflexes and reaction times within five yards.

He has enhanced strength and agility, performing gymnast-level acrobatics and leaping 12' high. He carries bladed weapons that he can hurl with deadly accuracy, a crossbow that fires poisoned arrows, and despite disliking firearms, he sometimes carries pistols that fire "anti-mutant" ammunition.

SHARD

SHARD

Real Name: Shard Bishop
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men Annual (Vol. 1) #17, June 1993 (in illusory form); The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #314, July 1994 (in reality)

Powers: Shard was born with the mutant power to draw upon ambient light and convert it into amplified blasts of concussive force from her hands. Upon her death, Shard's mind was transferred into a holographic matrix, allowing her to live on in part through an interactive imaging system. As a hologram, Shard was tied to the emitter bracelet that Bishop and later members of X-Factor wore, able to manifest herself only within a few dozen feet radius of it. She could be intangible or exist as a hard-light projection to interact with her surroundings. Because she could instantaneously relocate herself anywhere within the bracelet's projection radius, Shard also possessed limited line-of-sight teleportation powers.

After Bastion and Humanity's Last Stand disrupted her matrix, Shard became an independent entity, a photonic lifeform not tied to the bracelet or anything else. In this state, she no longer possessed her "teleporting" power, but she could still become intangible as necessary. Shard was now a self-sustaining hologram, feeding off of ambient photons to constantly replenish the light energy supporting her physical/mnemonic matrix. Furthermore, she could now gather and discharge the light energy she was formed of as photonic blasts, approximating her original mutant powers. Shard couldn't release too much energy at once, though, without risking her discorporation as she depleted the light energy resources holding her together. Just before her demise, Shard was reverted back to a human form when the Chronomancer reversed her personal timeline.

Shard is from Earth-1191 in an alternate future timeline roughly 100 years from now. In her timeline, she was a member of the X.S.E. (Xavier Security Enforcers), a mutant law enforcement agency inspired by the X-Men. As a trained police officer skilled in tracking, she had many years of armed/unarmed combat training and was a superb markswoman.

STYGLUT

STYGLUT

Real Name: Unrevealed
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #287, April 1992

Powers: A native on Earth-1191 in an alternate future roughly 100 years from now, Styglut was a mutant with energy conversion powers. He possessed the ability to drain the life energy of others upon physical contact and store it within his body cells. His body would then metabolize the life energy, processing it into a form of bio-electricity. He could then discharge this bio-electricity as bolts from his hands, or a radiant discharge in all directions.

MALCOLM & RANDALL

MALCOLM AND RANDALL

Real Names: Malcolm (full name unrevealed); Randall (full name unrevealed)
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #282, November 1991

Powers: Malcolm (right) has the mutant power to project psionic waves into his environment. These waves relay brain wave information to him, enabling him to detect the presence of humans in his vicinity. Although he cannot directly identify the presence of mutants, he can recognize someone as not "baseline human" if they fail to register on his scans.

Randall (left) has the mutant ability to absorb any form of radioactive particles into his body and then dissipate them harmlessly into the atmosphere.

Malcolm and Randall hail from Earth-1191 in an alternate future timeline roughly 100 years from now. In their timeline, they were members of the X.S.E. (Xavier Security Enforcers), a mutant law enforcement agency inspired by the X-Men. As trained police officers skilled in tracking, they had many years of armed/unarmed combat training and were superb marksmen.

BANTAM

BANTAM

Real Name: Unrevealed
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #282, November 1991

Powers: Bantam is a mutant whose physical mutation has granted him a short misshapen green-skinned appearance. His mutant power has been described as anything from "trans-temporal awareness" to being a "chronal anchor", but it remains unclear what either of those actually mean.

Presumably, he is sensitive to the biological energy emissions of other superhumans, allowing him to locate the site where the energy was released and catalogue its presence from then on.

It has been mentioned that him tethering his power to that of Trevor Fitzroy allowed the latter to maintain greater accuracy for his portal-jumps through time in addition to space. Bantam's powers also allowed him to catalogue these various portals, mentally keeping track of which ones remained and where they opened to.

GATEWAY

GATEWAY

Real Name: Unknown
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #229, May 1988

Powers: Gateway is a mutant and also a medicine man for his Australian Aboriginal tribe. He was well-versed in the quasi-mystical religion and practices of his people, including the "dream time". As a result, he possesses a wide range of powers and abilities not specifically attributed to either source. In either case, Gateway is capable of opening up portals between time, space and dimensions. He typically does this by whirling his bullroarer, but while his gateways sometimes materialized within the radius of the spinning rock, it is apparently not necessary for them to do so. The portals he opened can transport people to anywhere on the planet's surface, across decades of time, and into alternate planes of perception. It was through the last method that Gateway was able to visually show Wolverine how Magneto's "dark ego" infected Xavier's mind to create Onslaught.

Gateway has at least some form of telepathic perception and communication abilities. Although he rarely chooses to, he can speak aloud or mentally by projecting his thoughts at others. He is sensitive to the thoughts of others, and so always knew where the X-Men wanted to go when they were living in Australia with him, and when they wanted to be summoned home, despite not noticeably communicating with them in any way. Gateway can apparently perceive in advance any location to opens a portal to, a form of omni-clairvoyance which keeps him well informed about the past, present and future.

MISTER M

MISTER M

Real Name: Absolon Zebardyn Mercator
First Appearance: District X (Vol. 1) #2, August 2004

Powers: Mister M’s mutant power is absolute control over molecular structures, enabling him to perform any conceivable feat.

An omega-level mutant, he used his power to heal living beings of mental and physical illnesses, produce energy blasts of heat, force, electricity, and nuclear energy, become intangible, genetically transform mutants into humans and even negate or augment mutant powers, generate simulacra of living beings, create force fields, levitate himself and other objects, survive massive injuries, create spontaneous nuclear reactions, repair damaged machinery, evolve life forms, and painfully or lethally scramble organic molecules.

He can turn an opponent inside-out, or exhibit sufficient control over his own molecular structure in order to reach into their chest with an intangible hand and stop their heart. His mind gives off a field of psionic static, making him immune to telepathic probing and creating painful feedback/severe disorientation for any telepath attempting to do so.

His head is crowned with a cluster of tentacles which he typically conceals beneath a fedora. Despite lacking any formal education, Mister M was an avid reader and a self taught authority on a wide variety of subjects.

BISHOP

BISHOP

Real Name: Lucas Bishop
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #282, November 1991

Powers: Bishop has the mutant ability to absorb various forms of energy on contact. Once internalized, the energy is normally metabolized into his personal reserves. Energy stored there boosts his natural physical vitality, amplifying his strength, endurance, and reaction time. Despite his enhanced physical build, Bishop's energized strength level easily exceeds a few thousand pounds when fully charged. Physical exertion depletes his additional energy, and he can also release his reserves into bio-concussive blasts generated from his hands. He also occasionally employs plasma rifles which have special conductive grips allowing him to focus his energy into the guns as a power source, using up less energy than his blasts do.

In his early appearances, Bishop demonstrated the power to redirect energy in the same state he had absorbed it. He could, for instance, absorb Storm's lightning and then fire electrical blasts of his own. Bishop was apparently capable of using his personal reserves as raw fuel to feed any energy he was redirecting. In the above situation, this meant he could fire multiple electrical blasts, far more energy than the single lightning bolt he was struck with, by tapping into energies he had previously stored to continue recharging the electrical energy for his use.

He can absorb most kinds of energy, including kinetic, electromagnetic, and psionic. His system works best with active and directed energy signatures, like bio-blasts, laser guns, or electrical power lines. From ambient radiation, sunlight, and static electricity he picks up little to any charge from those sort of passive energies. He also cannot fully overcome solid-based kinetic assaults. Pure kinetic energy blasts or concussive explosions he can adjust to. He can absorb some of the kinetic energy from projectile assaults like bullets or crossbow bolts, but not enough to prevent them from penetrating his flesh. He's also still vulnerable to blunt force trauma or pressure based attacks. He also had a bionic right arm which amplifies his strength, contains retractable wire-guided pincers, and enables time-travel.

Bishop hails from Earth-1191 in an alternate future timeline roughly 100 years from now. In his timeline, he was a member of the X.S.E. (Xavier Security Enforcers), a mutant law enforcement agency inspired by the X-Men. A trained police officer skilled in homicidal investigations, he has many years of armed/unarmed combat training and is a superb marksman.

RUBY SUMMERS

RUBY SUMMERS

Real Name: Ruby Summers
First Appearance: X-Factor: Layla Miller (Vol. 1) #1, August 2008

Powers: Ruby Summers is a mutant from the future timeline of Earth-1191 and possesses a gestalt variant of her parents' (Cyclops and Emma Frost) mutant powers.

Instead of Emma's organic diamond, Ruby transforms into an organic version of ruby quartz crystal. As a result, she is nearly invulnerable and has a practical level of enhanced strength allowing her to exert 3-5 tons of force and pressure. Although she technically has a human form, Ruby has not reverted to normal in decades. She does not age or require conventional sustenance in her ruby form.

She is reportedly concerned that reverting to normal will restore her natural age, causing her to age decades in a moment if she changed back. Ruby can also project blasts of force from her eyes. These blasts are black in color for reasons unknown, but seem to function essentially the same as Cyclops' optic blast. Ruby uses her optic blasts sparingly, and seemingly cannot exert them as frequently as her father.

FITZROY

FITZROY

Real Name: Trevor Fitzroy
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #281, October 1991

Powers: Fitzroy possesses the mutant power to absorb life-energy from another person upon physical contact and convert it into temporal energy that can be used in a variety of ways. In his first appearances, Fitzroy was shown capable of draining a person totally of life-energy, a process which rendered them quite dead. He then converted this energy in order to create one-directional portals that connected two distant points in time and space. The flow of these portals was very specific: One end was the entrance, the other was the exit. If anyone tried to enter the exit-portal, their atoms would be scattered across the space-time continuum. Fitzroy could create an entrance-portal in front of him for a quick getaway to anywhere or time he could imagine, or do the reverse and cause an entrance-portal to manifest somewhere in space/time, allowing people or objects to come through an exit-portal near him. In all cases, it seems it was necessary for him to manifest one end of the tunnel within his immediate proximity.

Additionally, Fitzroy seemed capable of maintaining these portals indefinitely, they only needed to be powered up in order to open, not to remain open. His base of operations in his first appearances was apparently littered with portals he was keeping around for strategic means. There also seemed to be some sort of energy/mass factor for his portals: A certain amount of energy was required to allow a certain amount of mass to travel through them. If too much mass attempted to traverse a portal, such as if two people attempted to travel through a portal designed for only one person, their molecules could become fused and grossly distorted. Fitzroy originally believed his mutant power to be teleportation, until he absorbed enough life-energy to create a portal (which allowed passage through time, not just space partly due to the trans-temporal mutant anchor known as Bantam) where the time difference became more apparent.

He later expanded his power levels exponentially, and could possibly be considered Omega-level because of this. As the Chronomancer, Fitzroy learned how to manipulate chronal energy for feats other than portal creation. He could now freeze time around a moving object, holding it immobilized in midair and mid-motion until he let it free. Chronomancer could also accelerate the passage of time on a person or object, causing them to age past the point of decay and reduce them to dust. He even was capable of reversing the personal temporal characteristics of Shard, beginning a transformation that would have reverted her from a photonic lifeform back into a being of flesh and blood.

Fitzroy often employed a suit of crystallized omnium-mesh power armor when going into combat. This suit amplified his strength considerably, and protected him from physical assaults while refracting energy bursts to avoid damage from them. It could also turn him invisible for periods of time, and some versions of the armor included razor sharp nails on the gauntlets' fingers.
