Real Name: Irene Adler

Powers: Destiny possessed the mutant power of precognition. She could psionically perceive the events of possible futures in her mind’s eye. Although she was blind, Destiny could mentally scan the probability spectrum of alternate futures and mentally perceive sounds and sights of events that distinguish them. By concentrating she could focus on only the most probable alternate futures.

The accuracy of Destiny's ability to foresee future events decreased in direct proportion to the distance those future events lie ahead in time. The greater the time factor, the greater the number of alternate futures to scan. She could comfortably scan the alternate futures that exist from one second away up until those that exist fifteen minutes away. Hence, she could be 97% accurate in her predictions of the future ten seconds away or less. Despite the limited extent of her certainty, her long-range scanning could be of great use in the early detection of possible random factors that could disrupt her or her partners' plans. The more likely that a particular alternate future would manifest itself in her reality, the clearer and more distinct her mental impression of it would be. Less likely alternate futures would appear hazy and indistinct. If she left her precognitive perceptions fully open, she would "see" an overlapping succession of images drift in and out of focus as probabilities shifted and further elements transpired. By active participation in the events around her, she could help shift the probabilities toward desired ends.

Real Name: Opal Luna Saturnyne
First Appearance: Marvel Super-Heroes UK (Vol. 1) #380, December 1981

Powers: Opul Lun Sat-Yr-9, now using the alias of Courtney Ross, is an extra-dimensional version of the Majestrix Saturnyne.

She has a minor power of hypnotic influence, focused through her eyes, which allows her to manipulate unsuspecting people or those with weaker willpower than her. It is often used as a coercive measure, making people more willing to accept what she is saying and acquiesce to her wishes. She is also highly skilled in the art of seduction, which only increases her power's success against men. She occasionally employs a drug which can be inhaled or injected which artificially weakens the will of other people so they can be more easily molded with her powers.

Real Name: St. John Allerdyce

First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #141, January 1981

Powers: Pyro possesses the mutant ability to assume psionic control over fire. He can manipulate the size, shape and intensity of his flames. He can extinguish existing flames or feed the fire to make even the smallest spark grow to enormous size. Pyro can mentally regulate the flame's temperature, and shape it in any number of ways. He can cause columns or walls of flame to shoot up, form giant grasping hands out of flame, or project flame jets that tracked a moving target wherever it went. Pyro can create animated figures out of fire, forming fire-people, birds, or dragons that move and act under his commands. He can somehow forge flames that were solid enough to interact with physical objects, like flaming creatures which could lift up people in their hands. He can make his fire have sufficient solidity to achieve extra force, and make his fire so intense that bullets melt before they hit him. In order to control fire, it has to be within a 100 yard radius of Pyro and in his line-of-sight, he cannot manipulate a fire that he is viewing on live television. He is invulnerable to fire under his mental control, but if he was to take his attention from it, he could be badly burned. On two occasions Pyro has been known to fly or hover by propelling himself with fire.

Because Pyro can’t generate flames on his own, he always has a fuel pack and flamethrowers attached to his wrists as a part of his fireproof costume. His flame throwers provide him with a constant source of fire to manipulate and shoot on mental command, traveling a distance of 25 feet without Pyro's aid.

St. John Allerdyce holds a college degree and was an accomplished journalist for an Australian wire service. He was also a successful writer of gothic romance novels.

First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #148, August 1981

Powers: Caliban's mutant powers originally seemed to be advanced forms of natural animal survival instincts, detecting predators and the fight-or-flight reflex. Besides his chalk white skin and round yellow eyes, Caliban was a mutant detector, able to sense the unique energy rhythms being emitted by mutant biology. Caliban was able to gain a relative sense of how close or how powerful the mutant was within a 25 mile radius, and recognize the sensation if it was a mutant he had encountered before. During times of intense stress, mutagenically-altered adrenaline would flow through Caliban's system, triggering two new powers:

First, he developed superhuman Class 7 strength, as his muscles were pumped full of this adrenaline compound. Second, he also developed a fear-casting power which made him into an amplification unit for emotional residue -- absorbing the cast-off negative empathic energy other people around him were producing and then radiating it back into the environment at much greater intensities, often creating panic and hysteria.

After agreeing to work for Apocalypse, Caliban was put through genetic engineering procedures that greatly enhanced his powers. His muscle mass increased phenomenally over his entire body, and he developed permanent levels of superhuman strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, leaping ability, senses, fangs, claws, and resistance to all forms of physical injury. In addition to his physical power, Caliban's fear-casting power developed a new wrinkle, according to at least one source. Caliban now seemed capable of absorbing fear to become "emotionally-charged", boosting his physical powers even further. He was also able to access this 'shadow force' more easily, causing tremendous fear in others on command. After leaving the employ of Apocalypse, Caliban deteriorated mentally to a child-like demeanor, and either lost his fear-power or simply could no longer remember how to access it. After being re-recruited as the Horseman Pestilence, Caliban regained access to a variant of his fear-casting power: By harnessing ambient emotional energy from his environment, he could direct a psychoactive virus at specific targets, a debilitating effect which somehow targeted both the psyche and the metabolism, causing his victims to experience fever and delirium in addition to a detrimental psionic pressure on their mind, bringing pre-existing emotional pain to the surface and inhibiting their thinking and actions.

It should be noted that, considering the permanence of his superhuman physical attributes, it is possible that Apocalypse was able to genetically modify Caliban's x-factor so that mutagenic adrenaline is maintained at a constant presence in his system, instead of just in times of stress, much like a type of naturally produced steroids. If it is similar to steroids, that chemical imbalance could explain Caliban's wild mood swings and mania following the changes in his powers.

Real Name: Bonita Juarez

First Appearance: The Incredible Hulk (Vol. 1) #265, November 1981

Powers: Bonita Juarez was accidentally exposed to radioactive materials dumped on Earth by a passing starship. This gave her the power to manipulate thermal energy. As Firebird, she can control the microscopic random motion of molecules, causing combustion to occur. She initially used her power to radiate flame, projecting bolts of fiery plasma from her hands, generating a bright and high-temperature aura around herself, and fly at subsonic speeds by using a combination of thermal updrafts and thrust. Her heat could reach temperatures as high as 5,000° degrees Fahrenheit.

Later on, she learned to manipulate her powers in many others ways, increasing ambient temperature around people to dehydrate them, forming convection currents to lift and maneuver objects from a distance, dispersing flames or plasma-based weapon signatures, etc.

Also, she has developed an as-yet-unexplained power to cheat death. When exposed to the deadliest of poisons or radiations, her body ignores them as if they were nothing. On one occasion, she suddenly became capable of breathing in space after flying beyond Earth's atmosphere. The true nature behind this ability is unclear.

Bonita holds a masters degree in social work is an experienced social worker with a natural gift for counseling troubled individuals.

Real Name: Mikhal Urklovitch Ursus

First Appearance: The Incredible Hulk (Vol. 1) #258, April 1981

Powers: The Ursa Major is a mutant born with the power to transmorph into the form of a bipedal Siberian brown grizzly bear. Like Colossus, the Ursa Major has mildly-enhanced strength and resilience even in his normal state.

His bear form is larger and significantly stronger than a normal bear, at Superhuman Class 25. He can trigger his transformation at will with the process taking less than 10 seconds to complete. The transformation adds approximately 700 pounds of muscle tissue, flesh, bone, and hair. In addition to superhuman strength, he also gains the reflexes, stamina, speed and durability of an adult Siberian grizzly bear. He has razor sharp claws on each finger used for attack, foraging, digging, and climbing. He has specialized pads on his bear feet that keep him steady on slippery ice and snow. His fur also has extra layers and insulation to protect his feet from the cold. His bear form has acute hearing and super sense of smell.

He possesses the necessary dexterity to lift and manipulate objects with his forepaws like a normal man and he retains both his human intelligence and speaking ability in both forms. Originally, if he remained in his bear form for more than 6 hours, he would lose control over his human intelligence.

Real Name: Arthur Dearborn

First Appearance: The Invincible Iron Man (Vol. 1) #143, February 1981

Powers: Dr. Arthur Dearborn was a Roxxon scientist who conceived and designed Star Well 1, a space station which stored energy and beamed it back to Earth as microwaves, providing heat and electricity. When his employers threatened to cease funding the project, he volunteered for an experimental procedure which converted his body into microwave energy, turning him into a self-sustaining energy being called Sunturion.

Despite his armored appearance, Sunturion is not technologically supported. Both his human appearance and his Sunturion identity are deliberate projections of his energy form. Sunturion absorbs various forms of energy for personal sustenance, including solar energy and different kinds of background radiation. He can fly and survive unaided in vacuum and has only minimal desire for food or oxygen. Arthur can transform completely into energy, beaming himself at the speed of light from one point to another. He can shift into intangible energy and has only minimal reaction to physical assaults even when solid. Sunturion can project microwave discharges of various intensity, cast microwave shields for defense, or shape energy into holographic projections.

Dr. Arthur Dearborn is an expert radiologist with Ph.D’s in physics and mechanical engineering.
