SWAY

SWAY

Real Name: Suzanne Chan
First Appearance: X-Men: Deadly Genesis (Vol. 1) #3, March 2006

Powers: Sway has the mutant ability to alter how time is represented to her mind and body, apparently through a form of interpretation and manipulation of temporal energy. She is able to exert influence over nearby objects, causing them to slow down as they move or stop entirely, frozen in mid-air and mid-motion. This allows her to immobilize her opponents, dodge bullets, stop vehicles in their tracks, etc. Sway can affect specific objects by focusing on them, or simply expand her temporal inhibitor field outwards to affect everything in a radius from her position.

Sway is also capable of retro-cognitive projection, she can tap into residual temporal imprints in her immediate vicinity, forming holographic images that replay past events in front of her with complete audio and visuals. She is able to recreate events that occurred a few hours in the past, though Vulcan used her power to replay events many years earlier. She can apparently control the speed at which the events she sees are replaying themselves. Though Sway cannot re-see events that took place anywhere but in her current line-of-sight, she can follow phantom objects through time by physically moving herself to "keep pace" with things that had moved through her area previously. Presumably, Sway can perform other tracing or re-visualization acts using her powers.

PETRA

PETRA

Real Name: Petra (last name unrevealed)
First Appearance: X-Men: Deadly Genesis (Vol. 1) #1, January 2006

Powers: Petra is a geomorph with the mutant ability to manipulate all forms of earth and rock. She can levitate chunks of earth matter of various sizes, from the tiniest pebbles to boulders many times larger than a man. She is able to propel these rocks as projectiles, hurling them with enough force so that even smaller-sized ones can cause substantial damage. She can create simulated avalanches or hailstorms with her power. Petra can also cause masses of earth to rise out of the ground, blocking paths, elevating her to great heights on a column of rock, or directing these masses horizontally as battering rams or tidal waves of rock and soil.

On command, she is capable of making the ground become porous like quicksand beneath her opponent's feet, opening up chasms or fissures in the ground, and causing tremors to ripple through the earth. She can shape earth and rock with her mind, making it grow around her for protection or conceivably forming detailed shapes and sculptures that can be stationary or animated to carry out her will. Petra has also demonstrated the power to generate enormous pressure in rock by concentrating on it, allowing her to artificially recreate the natural conditions which form diamonds. It is unclear if she can shape and levitate diamonds just as easily as other geological materials.

D'KEN

D’KEN

Real Name: D’Ken Neramani
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #103, February 1977

Powers: D’Ken was a member of the extraterrestrial race known as the Shi'ar. The Shi'ar have both avian and mammalian characteristics: Although the Shi'ar are outwardly humanoid and mammalian in form, they have feathers instead of hair. At an earlier point in their evolution, the Shi'ar had fully-developed wings attached to their arms, enabling them to fly.

D’Ken possessed the conventional attributes of a Shi'ar, which gave him enhanced strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, and durability. The average Shi'ar possesses Class 1 strength and 20 times better endurance than a human.

DARWIN

DARWIN

Real Name: Armando Muñoz
First Appearance: Deadly Genesis (Vol. 1) #2, February 2006

Powers: Darwin possesses a reactive mutation which causes his physiology to respond to new environmental conditions. His mutant power enables him to adapt to various kinds of harsh environments in order to breathe underwater or in hazardous and anaerobic atmospheres, see in total darkness, and become flameproof in high-temperature areas. Darwin can survive varying levels of assault by becoming rubbery and pliant to yield with the impact, and is probably immune to most forms of drugs and injections. His intelligence apparently increased as a child because he subconsciously willed it to do so. Darwin manifests his power offensively to punch his attackers with rock-hard skin, or sharpen his flesh in order to cut through resistant materials.

The full extent of his power is unknown, but it is known that he survived for years having reduced himself to pure energy, and then later reconstructed a living body for himself once again out of this energy. During this time as pure energy, Darwin's life essence was hidden away inside of Vulcan, keeping them both technically alive in a catatonic stasis. The mutant energy flare released from M-Day brought Vulcan back to consciousness, and soon afterwards his mind was separated from Vulcan’s. Darwin's pure energy form quickly re-assumed human shape and proportions, and over the next few days completely reformed a functional organic body for himself through energy/matter conversion. The new limits regarding his powers remain unclear.

DEATHBIRD

DEATHBIRD

Real Name: Cal'syee Neramani-(Summers?)
First Appearance: Ms. Marvel (Vol. 1) #9, September 1977

Powers: Deathbird is a member of the extraterrestrial race known as the Shi'ar. The Shi'ar have both avian and mammalian characteristics: Although the Shi'ar are outwardly humanoid and mammalian in form, they have feathers instead of hair. At an earlier point in their evolution, the Shi'ar's had fully developed wings attached to their arms, enabling them to fly. Deathbird herself is actually an evolutionary throwback who possesses these functional wings. Shi'ar females have mammary glands and are viviparous.

As a genetic throwback, Deathbird possesses much more obvious bird-like traits than the rest of her avian people, the human equivalent of a mutant looking like a caveman. She has roughly six times the strength of a normal Shi'ar, in addition to superhuman speed, agility, endurance, reaction time, and durability. She has razor tipped talons on the ends of her fingers, strong enough to slice into steel, and wings which extend underneath her arms and can be flapped with enough force to provide lift and flight. At times in the past, Deathbird used a set of telescopic javelins as her personal weapons. Most of these javelins were held in a brace circling her wrist, but she may have had other hidden on her person. Once removed from their cache, most of her javelins extended to their full 32-inch length. She can use these for close quarters combat or as razor pointed throwing weapons. Certain javelins were designed to explode or release toxic fumes on impact, and some were not designed to extend but instead remained in their shorter form and would discharge high-voltage electrical blasts when two were touched together.

VULCAN

VULCAN

Real Name: Gabriel Summers
First Appearance: X-Men: Deadly Genesis (Vol. 1) #1, January 2006

Powers: Vulcan possesses the mutant power to manipulate energy. He is able to tap into any existing source of energy and bend it to his will. He is capable of flight, presumably due to an influence over graviton particles, and is capable of accelerating from a standing start to leave Earth's atmosphere in less than a minute. He is also able to project devastating amounts of energy as light, heat, force, magnetism, and electricity by tapping into, amplifying, and directing naturally-occurring photons, static electricity, and thermokinetic activity from his environment. His power seems capable of producing some kind of protective field, since he can both survive in the vacuum of space and withstand severe physical punishment. He can control directed energy beams or assaults, causing them to disperse or mentally altering their course.

Vulcan can also feel out the power source of an energy projection, reaching out with his power to shut it down on command. He can also use his power to control electronic systems, the electro-chemical current in the brain, etc. His power apparently extends to controlling the bio-energy patterns produced by a superhuman's power signature, letting him manipulate their powers directly. He can suppress energy to render his opponents powerless or access their abilities for his own purposes. It also appears that he doesn’t share the mutual power immunity that exists between his brothers, Cyclops, Havok, and X-Treme. Even so, he is capable of using his mutant power to bend their energies to his will.

When M-Day occurred, Vulcan was directly exposed to the Collective energy wave following the Decimation. This boosted his powers to omega-levels while temporarily giving him access to the geomorphic and temporal psychometry powers of his former teammates (Petra and Sway), while hosting Darwin's reactive evolutionary form.

CORSAIR

CORSAIR

Real Name: Christopher Summers
First Appearance: The Uncanny X-Men (Vol. 1) #104, April 1977

Powers: Corsair is a baseline human from Earth who possesses no superhuman powers. Prior to his capture and enslavement by the Shi’ar, Christopher Summers was already a superb pilot, and thanks to his military training, skilled at the use of various weapons and at hand-to-hand combat.

A member of the United States Air Force, he earned the rank of Major. As Corsair, he developed himself into a brilliant starship pilot. He also greatly improved his skills at hand-to-hand combat and mastered the use of various Shi'ar weapons. Corsair also become a highly accomplished swordsman. He also carried exo-gems on his uniform to store objects within pocket dimensional space for easy retrieval, including a pair of pulse blasters, grappling projector, and an alien metal fencing sword.
